Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the manification?

A: The Explore Scientific FirstLight 150mm f/5 Reflector Telescope (OTA Only) BH #EXFLN150750 • MFR #FL-N150750 has a 750mm Focal Length, f/5 Focal Ratio Magnification will be determined on the millimeter of the eyepiece being used.

Q: 2. Could you use with Skywatcher EQ35 mount?

A: Yes,both are compatible & use the same Vixen-Style Dovetail Plate.

Q: 3. What's the weight of the 8 OTA version?

A: The Sky-Watcher website lists it as OTA Weight (with accessories) 21 lbs

Q: 4. 2. I have a Celestron Nexstar 5SLT, and I wonder if I can purchase RC6 and use the same Tripod & Mount of the 5SLT, as my budget is limited (I am not going to add an SLR camear on the mount)? If not, please advise. on alterantive.

A: Yes this OTA has a Vixen Style Mount, so it will mount onto that Tripod set up.

Q: 5. What is the maximum effective magnification? on the iOptron website I see 180 but I would expect around 300, from a 6" telescope. Can you please clarify?

A: The magnification is approximately 27X without an eyepiece. That now changes when you add the magnification of the eyepiece into the equation.

Q: 6. If it weighs 18 lbs. why does it say its Package Weight is 15 lbs?

A: A correction order has been submitted to the B&H web content team.

Q: 7. Does it come with a tripod (stand) or where can one be gotten?

A: So it does not come with a Tripod unfortunately. However you can buy one for the model. The BRESSER Exos-2GT Computerized German Equatorial Mount with Tripod would be a great choice.Website link: http://bhpho.to/2bN3Fx3

Q: 8. Is the focuser and the primary mirror threaded together? meaning are they coupled in such a way, when the focuser moves primary mirror moves with it? Thanks

A: No, when using the iOptron Photron 250mm f/8 Ritchey-Chrétien Catadioptric Telescope the focuser and the primary mirror are not threaded together. iOptron describes it this way: "With the primary mirror fixed in place, iOptron installed a precise two-speed Crayford-style focuser with a 10:1 reducer that allows for fast coarse and precise fine focusing without the backlash that occurs in the more common rack-and-pinion design—essential for astrophotography or splitting objects that are close together, like binary stars."

Q: 9. What type of finder scope and diagonal are required to use this scope? As in, what are the specifications to purchase the right items to fit on the scope?

A: On the diagonal. You have to decide on 45 degrees or 90 degrees. also a regular diagonal or an erecting prism diagonal. When you look through a telescope the view is always inverted with out the use of some kind of erecting device. B&H most popular finder scope is the Celestron StarPointer Finderscope BH #CEFSSP • MFR #51630 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/202036-REG/Celestron_51630_Star_Pointer_Finderscope.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/202036-REG/Celestron_51630_Star_Pointer_Finderscope.html

Q: 10. What is the maximum effective magnification? I am asking since at the iOptron website its wriiten 180, however other 6" telescopes usually have around 300 max effective magnification. Thanks

A: The stated lower magnification could be because of the stated shorter focal length of the OTA.

[600 mm] I purchased this after doing some research. I had heard that these could have a problem with collimation and may not work all that great for observation. I found neither of these to be a problem. When the IOptron 150mm f/9 Ritchey- Chretien arrived I set it up the first opportunity I had for clear skies and checked the collimation using a de-focused star and it was fine. I tried a few photos of DSOs which also turned out good. A few night later I had a chance to try it out on lunar observation and again it worked well. So, Im happy with the purchase.

[600 mm] So far I am very happy with the telescope. It does have a narrow field of view so it takes some precision to line it up but everything else is very nice.

[600 mm] Have had it out once since receiving, and, so far, am very happy with the scope. B&H Photo was also great in communicating tracking and ETA information. Highly Recommended for your astrophotography and/or astronomy desires.

[f/4] I've purchased this equipment for two reasons:
1- It was available! (Rare these days),
2- I just watched a guy on youtube making a review about this exact model. He just showed every aspect of the equipment in real life. He mentioned that he did not even needed to collimate out of the box and also said the image is very sharp for astro-photography. That was the point that really got me. After that I decided to take the plunge. Here I am, after about a month using it, I can tell it's a great telescope. The image is great. I did not collimate as well and yes the image is great! No chromatic aberration, no coma and the likes. I will later on check the collimation just out of curiosity. Yes, it's a great telescope! I have nothing to complain about it. The focusing system is very precise, and smooth. It's a solid piece of equipment. The design and color choice also is also pleasing to me. B&H had this BIG BOX from NY to AZ for FREE in two days! YEEPEEE! Very happy with my purchase.

[f/4] Purchased primarily for astrophotography with my Nikon Z50 and Z6 mirrorless cameras. Combined with the SkyWatcher aplanatic coma corrector and AZ-EQ6 mount, I am so far getting good results from rural NJ skies. The scope is solid, hold focus for hours, and I have only had to collimate it once. The baffles due a great job of suppressing internal reflections, but I've had to watch out for light leakage from behind the primary due to the mirror cell design. Limited visual use but I did get very sharp images at 200x. With the Z50 stars are sharp except in the very corners, where a tiny bit of uncorrected coma still shows. With the full frame Z6, the edges and corners show too much residual coma for my taste, but that might be the result of the coma corrector requiring a spacing adjustment. Overall very satisfied.

[Vixen Style] Well machined steel OTA with top notch baffling and gorgeous glass! I was (and still am) amazed by the low price on this amazing scope. It has so far yielded me some of the best views of Jupiter I have ever seen. Clear bright and high contrast I can't believe how incredible the views have been through this RC! Great delivery and shipping to Canada...Astronomy, iOptron Photron 150 RC and BHP...what a great combination!

[f/4] So far, the telescope has performed beyond my expectations. It arrived perfectly collimated and images have been sharp. Please.

[f/4] Great little light-weight telescope. I use it as a secondary scope on my iOptron Mini-tower II mount. The scope provides great, large FOV, views. For some reason I didn't realize that the telescope came with any eyepieces, so that was a pleasant surprise when I opened the box.
