[15.6"] The Viewsonic VG1655 is an amazing monitor. It feels solid and the image is bright, sharp, saturated, and truly gorgeous. The screen's 16:9 aspect ratio allows multiple app windows to be displayed simultaneously while remaining readable, even with the Windows Scale display setting at 100% rather than 125%. The rear has a swing-out support that can prop up the monitor horizontally or vertically. The magnetic snap-on screen protector is actually quite rigid when mounted and should provide ample protection. The included cables should handle any connection scheme.

My application is as a part of a telescope control computer that can be taken into the field. The computer is a mini-PC that normally runs off a 12Vdc adapter. The monitor can be powered from one of the computer's USB ports. With a 12V/6000mAh lithium battery, the entire package will run for about four hours. Haven't tried it yet with a 12V sealed lead acid battery, but I suspect up time to be longer.

Overall, the package is a bit more cluttered than using a laptop, but the performance and flexibility are greater, IMO. Minor criticisms: 1) the included cables are all longer, thicker, and more rigid than seems necessary, but that might be an advantage for some, and 2) built-in speaker volume and quality are a bit wimpy, but they are included and still consistent with how the monitor will be used.

The Viewsonic VG1655 is one of the few products I've purchased that so well exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.

[146 ppi] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I work from home, it's challenging to get everything done when I need to shrink all the windows and tabs to fit my laptop monitor. I used to have an additional desktop monitor, but it was so large and heavy and not very portable for using not only at my desk, but from the couch or out on the patio. I started using the ViewSonic display just a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it! It's lightweight, glare-free, and easily portable to set up beside me on the couch or out on the patio. It's simple to plug in the two cords from the ViewSonic display to connect it to the laptop. The cords are long enough to give a little flexibility for adjusting your position, but not so long that they get in the way. I only wish my laptop monitor was as good as the ViewSonic display!!

[15.6"] [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has to be one of the best pictures I have ever seen from a monitor that was used outside. We are in the security business and need monitors for our outdoor cameras systems, this one hands down is the best.

[1000:1] Lightweight and compact, pairs perfectly with my portable, high powered NUC - duplicates my desktop system.

[15.6"] Got this to travel with, and so far it works great. No power cord needed when powered up by my Mac Mini via USB-C.

[1920 x 1080] Great portable light weight monitor. It was easy to connect to my laptop and my smart phone. It comes with all the necessary cables and a cover to protect the screen. This was a worthwhile purchase, I recommend.

[IPS-Type LCD] I've connected this small monitor to an iPad and MacBook via USBc and a Mac Mini and AppleTV via HDMI. It just works. Not much in the way of instructions provided, took me maybe 15 minutes to find and figure out how to attach the screen protector and another 10 to navigate the setup menus, Looks well thought out. Can't comment on durability, but seems solid enough for casual mobile use. The display image is about what you'd expect for this price range.

[146 ppi] This portable monitor is a great addition to my traveling setup. It is the size of a laptop screen and fits easily in my backpack along with my other gear. Screen quality is excellent.

[1000:1] This is my first portable monitor. Before purchase the main concern was whether there would be any audio or visual lag, and I am pleased to report that there is none that I can perceive (I'm an older gamer in my 40s). Both Nintendo and Sega mini consoles work well with the screen and the sound coming out of the headphone jack goes straight to my speakers without any delay. Nintendo Switch works fine and while I haven't had a chance to test PS3/4/5 yet, I'd imagine they should work fine as well.


Colors seem natural and vivid, especially when placed next to a cheaper laptop with weaker colors. Red looks red rather than orange.



When it came to portable monitors and gaming consoles, it was difficult trying to find a definitive answer on the internet as to which have lag and which don't. Compared to more expensive gaming portable monitors, this monitor at $200 was a smaller risk to take and I am glad that the risk paid off.
