Q: 1. How un-sealed against weather is the Otus? I have a Milvus 15/2.8, and now an Otus 28/1.4. The 50 or 55 is next, which I plan to use for landscape and astro-pano with my 810A. I don't plan to be in rainstorms or sandstorms, but the lack of weather-sealing has me a bit concerned, given its expense what was Zeiss thinking?, and the fact that I will be taking pics in marine shore and humid environments.

A: The ZEISS Otus lenses are not weather sealed. As long as the lens is not exposed directly to rain or dusty environments, there is little risk of damage. When used in high humidity conditions, care should be taken to acclimate the lens to prevent internal fogging of the elements. Storage of the lens under these conditions should be done in sealed bags using a desiccant.

Q: 2. Is this manual aperture

A: No, the aperture on the ZEISS Milvus 50mm f/1.4 ZE Lens for Canon EF is controlled from the Canon camera body.

Q: 3. How does this lens perform wide open for astrophotography?

A: You can judge the performance of the Milvus 1.4/25 lens by reviewing the MTF chart in the data sheet. ZEISS provides the performance at wide open and stopped down, so you can compare the results to determine both the sharpness at f/1.4 and at f/4. The lens performs very well at wide-open and would be well suited for astrophotography. The data sheet is available at: a href= https://www.zeiss.com/content/dam/camera-lenses/files/service/download-center/datasheets/milvus-lenses/datasheet-zeiss-milvus-1425.pdf target= _blank https://www.zeiss.com/content/dam/camera-lenses/files/service/download-center/datasheets/milvus-lenses/datasheet-zeiss-milvus-1425.pdf/a

Q: 4. Can you let me know which way around the focus rotates on the Otus? Same as the regular Nikon lenses or the same way as the Canon version. Thanks

A: The Nikon F version rotates the same way as Nikon lenses (i.e. the scale reads from infinity on the left to MFD on the right) and the Canon EF version rotates the same way as Canon lenses (i.e. the scale reads from MFD on the left to infinity on the right).

Q: 5. I see aperture ring and numbers in the product image. If this was used on D7200, does the camera recognize the aperture selected on the ring? And how do the 1/3 aperture stops work?

A: The aperture selection on the ZEISS Milvus ZF.2 lenses can be done using the ring on the lens barrel, or via the sub-command dial on the camera. This choice needs to be made in the set-up menu on the camera (refer to the D7200 user manual for more information). When the aperture ring on the lens is chosen, the aperture is changed in 1/2 stop increments. When the aperture is controlled via the camera using the sub-command dial, then the aperture can be controlled in 1/3 stop increments. When using this method, the aperture on the lens should be set to the lowest level until it clicks into place. Otherwise you will see EE readings in the camera menu.

Q: 6. Will this work on a Fujifilm GFX100? Is the image circle large enough to cover it's sensor.

A: Yes. The following unit needs an adapter in order to mount to the GFX system. Metabones Lens Adapter for Nikon F-Mount, G-Type Lens to FUJIFILM G-Mount GFX Camera BH #MEBNFGFGBM1 • MFR #MBNFG-FG-BM1 https://bhpho.to/3FHbTD9

Q: 7. Has anyone tried adapting the otus 85 to Fuji GFX50 ? Will there be vignetting ?

A: There would be at least some vignetting using a full-frame lens with a larger sensor like that on the GFX50.

Q: 8. is this len manual focus?

A: The ZEISS ZF.2 lenses are manual focus, but do provide communication with the camera body via a CPU. This allows for the use of various functions, including the exposure meter, various exposure modes, transfer of meta data and focus confirmation. You can learn more at: a href= http://www.zeiss.com/camera-lenses/en_de/website/photography/what_makes_the_difference/manual_focusing.html target= _blank http://www.zeiss.com/camera-lenses/en_de/website/photography/what_makes_the_difference/manual_focusing.html/a anda href= http://www.zeiss.com/camera-lenses/en_de/website/photography/what_makes_the_difference/camera_mounts/zf2_lenses.html target= _blank http://www.zeiss.com/camera-lenses/en_de/website/photography/what_makes_the_difference/camera_mounts/zf2_lenses.html/a

Q: 9. What Zeiss Lens gear do you use with this lens? Small, mini or medium?

A: This will require the "large" Zeiss lens gear.

Q: 10. Can you confirm if this model has hard stop focus ring at infinity like other Zeiss models or does the focus ring move past infinity?

A: The Zeiss Otus 1.4/28 focuses beyond infinity, as does the other Otus lenses. The special glass types used in the construction of the lens are sensitive to thermal expansion, so a hard stop would cause infinity problems at high temperatures.

[Yes] Video Copilot's element 3d is a great plugin. It allows me to bring my objects that I have modeled in Lightwave, into After effects. This has helped speed up production, because I don't have to render out the scene first. I can take my model straight into After Effects and then render my scene. All in After Effects.

[Download] So glad I made this purchase. I was in a hurry to meet a deadline and Element 3D has been hands down the fastest most efficient way bring 3D objects into After Effects and create 3D scenes to composite into your videos. The ability to drag .obj files into After Effects is huge and the speed at which the program functions is incredible. I've been editing off a laptop with 16G RAM and a NVIDIA 1050 3G graphics card with After Effects CC 2020 and moving around my scene in the 3D viewer is instantly responsive without any lag or dip in resolution during camera rotation.
