Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with PCI 1X Gen 2.0?

A: Yes, the Sonnet Allegro 2-Port USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C PCIe 3.0 Card BH #SOUSB3C2PME can be installed on a PCIe x1 Gen 2 slot.

Q: 2. If I use a USB-C to Thunderbolt Adapter from Apple with it, will I be able to read a Thunderbolt hard drive with my Mac Pro 5.1?

A: The answer to your question is No. Thunderbolt devices require a Thunderbolt port. The Thunderbolt 3 vs USB-C issue can be confusing due to the fact that each use the same Type-C connector. As well, Thunderbolt 3 encompasses USB-C, but not vice versa. The simple rule is that a USB-C device works in a Thunderbolt 3 port, but a Thunderbolt 3 device will not work in a USB-C port.

Q: 3. Will this work with a M1 mac as an external drive?

A: You would need to place it in an enclosure but it would have to be a Thunderbolt enclosure. Please consider the G-Technology 500GB G-DRIVE mobile Pro Thunderbolt 3 External SSD (B&H # GT0G10310) or the Samsung 500GB X5 Portable SSD (B&H # SAMUPB500BAM) as ready, out-of-the-box alternative that will give you performance close to this M.2 module.

Q: 4. will this work with the hp z840 ?

A: Yes, provided you have an available PCIe 3.0 x4 slot.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with the Dell Inspiron 3670. I would be replacing the current SSD for more space. Also, what cloning software would you recommend?

A: This BH #SAMZV8V1T0B • MFR #MZ-V8V1T0B/AM SSD would be compatible with a Inspiron 3670.

Q: 6. Specs specifically do NOT mention compatibility with USB 3.0. Is it the case that this card is not compatible with 3.0?

A: The HighPoint RocketU 1344A 4-Port USB 3.1 Gen 2 PCIe 3.0 x4 HBA Controller Card B&H # HIRU1344A supports all previous generations of USB. It is compatible with USB 3.0, 2.0 & 1.0.

Q: 7. if i connect this card to pcie 2.0 is it i will get same speed?

A: It runs 1x on a PCIe 3.0 and 2x on a PCIe 2.0 giving you full speed on either type.

Q: 8. Does this work in a 2019 Mac Pro?

A: Yes, the Sonnet Allegro Pro 8-Port USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C PCIe 3.0 Card is compatible with the 2019 Mac Pro.

Q: 9. Is this a good choice for a boot drive in a 4k editing laptop?

A: The Samsung 1TB 980 PCIe 3.0 x4 M.2 Internal SSD is great for using in a 4K editing workflow when used with an external enclosure such as the Sabrent USB 3.2 Type-C (BH #SAECSNVE).

Q: 10. will this ssd work with Acer tc-865 desktop computer?

A: The TC-865 Desktop is not listed as having the M.2 port capable of accepting this type of drive. The machine only has SATA type ports.

[0.54 lb] With Unraid, its plug and play.
Windows and PfSense both need a driver installed prior to functioning.

For Windows check the Marvell website for AQtion drivers.
For PfSense look up the freebsd aquantia-atlantic-kmod driver.

In regards to that not recognized statement.
I, at first, had a similar issue; the cards did not get picked up by the system.
Cards work well once seated properly.
I suspect the brackets are not perfect and hold the card just out of the slot.
I bent the top part ever so slightly so it sits properly in the slot.

[ PCIe 3.0 x4] The QNAP does extremely well using auto negotiation on my mixed network. All 10 Gb network cards (OWCPCIE10Gb) from B&H run at rated speeds. Direct 10 Gb transfers between (2) computers with NVMe drives averages slightly over 1 GigaByte/s. Primarily purchased for large backup image and rendered file transfers between multiple computers and a backup server using CAT6a (10'-30') and CAT8 (95'-120') cables. No dropouts during multiple transfers taking place. Plays well with the 2.5 Gb cards and (1) ancient Intel 1.0 Gb card still in the network as well. Also will support up to (8) VLANs, link aggregation and Spanning Tree Protocol.

Management is web based, straightforward and easy to set up or change using either the MGMT RJ45 port or web browser connected via the RJ45 or SFP+ ports. Used an SFP+ module to test all SFP+ ports. All port properly negotiate to NIC rated speeds.

Switch is quiet even though the twin fans spin at 4k+ RPM. (3) fan curve options in setup. The front and top surfaces stay between 89° to 94°F (pyrometer checked). SFP+ module tops out at 95°F on the exposed faces under load. Rated maximum power is 48.6 watts. Internal DC power supply with a 120V AC cord instead of a clumsy 4+ amp power brick.

Have a few more 10Gb cards to purchase yet. Only had it for a few weeks, but it's certainly been doing the job. About the same price as a Netgear 10 port 10Gb managed switch, 4 ports of which are only 2.5Gb. Only about $50 more than a Buffalo 8 port 10 Gb unmanaged switch.

A switch that you can grow into instead of out of for a SOHO network. It's a keeper fer shur.

[ PCIe 3.0 x4] Shipped fast. Packaged very well. Instructions were straight forward. I wish I would have done more research as I ordered the short height but I do have a normal height slot in my Qnap NAS as well. Worked great in the short slot. Easy to install. If you’re looking for easy 10gb in your Qnap NAS I would def recommend. This was the best price and shipping of all the “Certified” Qnap Pcie expansion cards. 10/10

[ PCIe 3.0 x4] For those computers that only have spare PCI x1 slots.
Works great, increases the network bandwidth.
Recommend if possible getting a computer with at least a spare PCI x4 slot and the 10 Gbe version of this card !!!

[ PCIe 3.0 x4] Originally bought the wrong card with the ports for using fiber or something, so after figuring that out we had it replaced with this. THIS is the model you can plug normal RJ45 Ethernet cables into. The difference in the name is , I think ONE letter, so be vigilant. This was crazy easy to install, too. Just remember you ethernet cables need to be Cat6A or higher. Cat 7, 8, etc... work just fine. Just don't go lower than Cat6A, imo.

[0.54 lb] PCI-E 1x, 5Gbps, multiple brackets, Win11 had drivers, running on W480 chipset motherboard. Large file transfers over the network sustained 450-600MB/s for 30 minutes.

[ PCIe 3.0 x4] This is small but mighty. Fast internal bus, really simple user interface (it’s a switch, but it has good stuff like bonding that is really simple to set up).
Easy 10.

[ PCIe 3.0 x4] I was looking for a network switch for my office that could handle 10-gigabit connections over RJ-45 (to connect my PC and Synology NAS) but it was difficult to find one that didn't have negative reviews either due to heat or noise. I gave this switch a shot and it's worked extremely well so far. You can set it to use a quiet profile for the fans so that it's not quite as loud and it's been very reliable and performant so far. I can easily transfer While the unit is certainly not silent (the fans are small and can produce a high-pitch hum at times), it is quiet enough to be placed in my office and blends in with the fan noise from other devices like the NAS. Unless it's under a high load or I'm specifically listening for it, I don't even notice it. With larger transfers, I have seen transfer speeds of 550 MB/s to an SSD on my NAS, which is about what I would expect.
