Lomography's La Sardina line of cameras are 35mm film cameras featuring a sardine-can shaped body, 22mm wide-angle plastic lens, built-in optical viewfinder, and multiple and long-exposure capabilities. This DIY White edition features a customizable blank body that can be decorated in any manner of your choosing.

This wide-angle plastic 22mm lens has an angle of view of 89°, giving a broad perspective and great depth of field. A fixed f/8 aperture is suitable for most shooting applications and two-stage focusing gives you the option to focus between 2-3.3' / 0.6-1m and from 3.3' / 1m to infinity. The plastic construction gives images a soft, dreamy quality that truly defines the "toy camera look."

Two exposures settings are available: N (1/100th sec.) or B (bulb) for controlling exposure lengths to suit different lighting situations. Additionally, an MX mode is available, which allows you to record unlimited multiple exposures on the same frame. The bulb setting allows you to record long exposures, which is further benefited by the inclusion of a 1/4" tripod socket and a cable release socket to help prevent camera shake.

A dedicated micro contact is available in order to use the included Fritz the Blitz flash for more creative exposure possibilities or for simply adding additional light to the scene. This external flash attaches to the side of the camera and features three distance settings (5.25, 4, and 2') for greater exposure control when shooting. Additionally, four colored filters (blue, yellow, white, and red) are also included to creatively modify the color of the flash output.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it come with film?

A: No, film is not included with the Lomography Diana F+ Medium Format Camera (Teal/Black). Film would have to be purchased separately. You may view the options available under the Accessories tab on the webpage for the camera.

Q: 2. what type of projecter should i use to show the movies?

A: You will need a 35mm film projector. Those are very hard to find and very rare. When you do find them they are very expensive unfortunately. Usually you need to scan the film to a computer in order to see the movie.

Q: 3. If the camera can only shoot 144 frames per roll, does that mean for each 6 seconds (standard 24fps) video, we have to switch a new roll?

A: The film is actually around 4-6 fps max. It's hand cranked so there's no way you get 24fps. A film roll actually gives about 30 seconds of film. Think of it more like an old silent movie type rate. I got an 8 scecond sequence from 22 frames as an example.

Q: 4. Hey BH!This camera with flash comes with the colored filters for flash?

A: Yup! Four filters. White, yellow, blue, and orange/red

Q: 5. Can you develop this film in a dark room?

A: This camera uses standard 35mm film. You can use any standard color or black and white film and develop it in an appropriate dark room.

Q: 6. I bought the Lomographic sprocket rocket (hp400) and would like to know if anyone knows how long the developed photo is. I've had a panoramic camera in the past and the developed photo was 12 long. 2. I also have a Nikon N90s which uses 4AA batteries, along with 4 AA's in the flash. Any strong recommendations on type of battery? I'm finding Duracell are weaker and energizer last longer. So, any suggestions?

A: In regard to the Sprocket Rocket: The size of the print just depends on what you request. The image on the negative is about twice the length of a standard 35mm frame. I've printed images from the Sprocket Rocket on 8x10 paper. You can really print them at almost any size.

Q: 7. Glass or plastic lens elements? If glass, any chance they are coated?

A: The lens is made of glass and is coated.

Q: 8. Does this print instantly like on the spot a few seconds after shooting a picture ?

A: Its not an instant camera. After shooting you will need to develop the film

Q: 9. After developing and scanning the negatives, how do you turn them from stills into a movie?

A: You can send it to these people as the negatives or scanned digitally: https://filmphotographystore.com/products/film-scanning-services-lomokino-movie-maker-35mm-film-scanning?_pos=2&_sid=d6100359a&_ss=r

Q: 10. does it produce sound?

A: The camera is crank 35mm moving film camera. It does not record sound. If you are referring to the sound the camera might make while recording, it is very minimal.

[Included] Y'all, this camera is so much fun! I've had a blast figuring it out and enjoying the ROCKIN' pictures I get from it. If you haven't used film (in a while or ever), it takes some getting used to, and learning how much light you need is a bit of a trial-and-error process, but once you get going, I don't know how you could possibly not love it.

[Yes] First roll of film turned out well. Multiple exposure experiments worked! Used 400 speed film. Quality is rather retro looking, but that's the point. Had a lot of fun with it.

Take note, there is a massive space between shots on the negative which is kind of wasteful, that is, if you turn the Advance Wheel until it stops. Next time I will not advance it so much and just watch the tick marks, and try overlapping panoramic shots. Also did not need the flash or book, wish I wasn't forced to buy those... Otherwise very pleased!

[Bulb Mode] This picture book is simply amazing. You're getting two books for the price of one. It also comes with a free camera in it that's pretty good too. But the book, man, you gotta get one.

[1.85 lb] What advantages does this 35mm camera have over the medium format Diana? It has a built-in connection for a plunger. You have the advantage of square format or 1/2 frame 35mm, even to choose the format from frame to frame. It has an additional zone focus setting over 120 Diana zone focus system. It maintains much of the toy camera softness and artsy picture imperfections.
