Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a cable pass through from the front pocket to the main compartment to allow connecting to a MX-Hirose DC power input sled from a NP1 style battery?

A: Yes, the Strut STR-MP6 Custom-Fit Field Case for Sound Devices MixPre-6 has a small opening to pass cables through to the main compartment from the front pocket.

Q: 2. Is this compatible with the new mark II line? Like the MixPre-3ii?

A: Yes it is.

Q: 3. May I know the finished length, width and height of this product? What is the maximum length, width and height that it occupies?

A: The Oklahoma Sound PRC200 Multiuse Presentation Cart BH #OKPRC200 dimensions are 18 x 40.5 x 30".

Q: 4. Is there a voltage regulator inside or does ist pass through voltage/current from the 7,2v l-mount battery?

A: Voltage regulation not needed with Sony l type batteries it’s designed for those

Q: 5. Will this bag have enough room to fit the 442 and a Tascam DR-480 recorder at the same time? Meaning is the other slot big enough for a Tascam recorder?

A: This bag is not kept in stock at B&H or PortaBrace. After 5 weeks of not receiving bag I cancelled order and got a refund.

Q: 6. Will this work with a Sound Devices 302?

A: This bag is made specifically for the Sound Devices Mix Pre 3, which is smaller than the 302. The Porta Brace Silent Audio Organizer Case for Field Recorders, B&H # POAO15SILENT would be a great option.

Q: 7. Have anyone tried to fit a 702 in this bag ?

A: The Strut STR-MP6 is a custom-fit field case for the Sound Devices MixPre-6 and the dimensions of the MixPre-6 are 1.4 x 6.5 x 4.6" (36 x 166 x 118 mm). The dimensions of the Sound Devices 702 are 1.8 x 8.2 x 4.9” (45 x 209 x 125 mm) which is larger than the MixPre-6 on all sides, especially for the length across which is 1.7" longer. The 702 is not going to fit inside the STR-MP6 case. We do have other cases that will fit the 702, like the PortaBrace Audio Recorder Case for Sound Devices 702, 722, and 744 (B&H # POAR7B) and PortaBrace Audio Organizer Case (B&H # POAO15XB).

Q: 8. Just verifying it works with the Sound Devices 744T?

A: Yes. This AC adapter is compatible with the Sound Devices 744T.

Q: 9. It states this can accommodate L series sled option. Will it actually fit with 1 or t2 np batteries in sled while using the Mixpre-6?

A: Yes it does. I just picked up the L-series sled and two Watson NP-F770 batteries (4400mHa) and have them installed on the Mixpre-6 in the Strut case. It's hard to tell from the picture, but there is a slot in the bottom of the case through which the sled protrudes, allowing you to install / swap batteries, and two velcro flaps that wrap around the whole assembly. The flaps are long enough that they would easily wrap around two of the biggest L-series batteries (7800 mHa). The batteries recess quite a bit into the sled, so they don't stick out as much as I expected . . . and actually allow you to stand the mixer up on a flat surface which is a nice happy accident.

Q: 10. Will this work with a AS 688?

A: Sorry, not sure. Purchased as replacement for Pux-240

[0.285 lb] I actually ended up getting this cable to help me power an ssd to work with an older device that outputs at low power through some usb-a ports (a wii u gaming console, actually). It works like a charm, although I had to switch up my ssd since the old one's usb-c port was too recessed to have a stable connection with the cable. Overall very happy with my purchase, especially given that the cable has more uses with the actual mixpre systems that it's intended for should I choose to invest in them ^^

[Black] We use the MixPre 6 II to both record ISO tracks on a podcast and send a mix into the computer for livestream. But we're using a 2015 MacBook Pro, so without this cable we couldn't get the device to last long enough. This cable solves it all and makes the workflow a breeze!

[Black] This saved the day on a remote job that I had. The mx-powersled fits snug on the mixpre 3 and makes it possible to unplug and go. I powering it through the usb c but this makes it far more accessible and easier to manage.

[0.285 lb] Needed to connect RAVPower USB battery to MixPre 6. Works great.

[Black] Upgraded my sound kit with the new MixPre-6 but didnt want to power via, USB-C, AA or L-Mount.  This allows me to use my existing NP-1 distribution system. Its a tight fit and can be hard to unmount and swap SD cards.

[0.285 lb] Snaps in really securely and is solidly all metal, though you have to be careful when inserting. I also have the 8 battery sled and the Sony sled but even those don't match the run time of this with a v-mount battery. You can also use this with an NP1 cup. The Sony sled holds batteries in awkward positions. The only downside of this unit is that you have to use this and the battery with a decent size bag.

[Black] Sled is very well constructed and provides a nice alternative to powering your MixPre-6/3 while freeing up the USB-C port for streaming.

[0.285 lb] I got this cable to connect my MixPre 3 to my computer to use it as an audio interface. A standard USB-C to A cable will work but the mixer will run in low power mode, limiting functionality. This cable allows full power, full functionality when connected to a computer, though it does require two free USB A ports.

The cable seems sturdy and high quality, which is good because it's not inexpensive.

Basically, it does what I needed it to do and seems like decent quality, I'm happy with it.

[0.285 lb] The Sound Devices MixPre-6 II is a great, compact recorder, but it eats AA batteries for lunch.

Some users power their MixPre-6 II (and MixPre-3 II) with USB power banks, but the USB connection is fragile and risks getting pulled out of place while in use. Enter the Hirose adapter.

If you’re using one of the smaller MixPre units, there’s nothing like an NP-1 or HiQ battery for getting through an entire production day, and the Hirose adapter allows for use with the proper battery cup.

The MX Powersled features solid, metal construction that snaps easily in place on the recorder. This is a great power solution for the MixPre-3/6 II recorders.

[Black] It's a bit annoying that one needs this cable in the first place to power the MixPre while using it as a USB interface. I considered a Hirose power sled adapter but that was going to be a lot of trouble and expense. Against Sound Devices' recommendation I tried a couple workarounds using other types of USB-C adapters designed for other devices and predictably they didn't work. So you do need this cable, and at least it's nice and sturdy with heavy gauge wire and a handy 6' length. As per a YouTube video I use it with a powered USB hub (TenDak) connected to an iPhone with the lightning-USB camera adapter. It's a little kludgey with all the wires and adapters but it does work reliably, allowing me to use very high quality mics and the MixPre's excellent preamps and ADC for recording video on the iPhone with a third party app (ProMovie). This saves a ton of trouble syncing and mixing the tracks post-capture. So overall I can't complain, it does the job I needed!
