A: Be sure the SSD is properly attached, open disk utility to view all connected devices check if formatting is an issue. Also check the drive on other units to see if it's a issue only on one machine, or if it could be the drive itself.

A: You can use SATA III drives in the Sabrent 2.5" SATA to USB 3.0 Tool-Free External Hard Drive Enclosure but they will only get SATA II speeds.

A: The StarTech 3.5" USB 3.0 SATA III External Hard Drive Enclosure with UASP (Silver) BH #STS3510SMU33 has been successfully tested by Startech with up to 14TB Drives. Bigger drives might work but it has not been validated by Startech.

A: Yes, as long as the drive and your operating system supports that.

Q: 8. I'm considering this to clone an existing laptop hard drive to a new, larger hard drive. Is the newly duplicated drive bootable once installed in the laptop?

A: In my experience, yes. the caveat is that i copied to a drive that is the same size as the original. I have not tried it with different sized drives.

Q: 10. Obviously this will be drive dependent but I want a ballpark idea of how long this takes to erase per terabyte?

A: the time it takes to erase the drive will be based on the speed of the drive and software being used

[1x 2.5"] I've been using many enclosures before . this one has a very good vantilation . I use it for hours just regular warm no heat at all . The USB 3 speed my hard drive I did not expect that . Good blinking blue light when connect . 5

[ASMedia ASM1051] Pulled hard drive from defective Macbook Pro. Install was relatively easy. Seems to read/write pretty quickly. 5

[0.45 lb] Had no errors and impressively good performance doing partition clones using CloneZilla. Saw effective speeds exceeding 3 MBPS on large transfers from local SATA 3 disk to SSD and or SATA 3 HDD in this enclosure. Transfers were 150 MB to 980 MB. 5
