Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. would this lens have focus conformation on the canon 5DS?

A: Confirmation. Yes. The focus points will light up when in focus.

Q: 2. Can ZEISS Milvus 21mm f/2.8 ZF.2 mount on a D850 without adapter?

A: Yes, the Nikon D850 uses a F-mount. The Milvus lineup also uses the F-mount. So you will not need an adapter to use this lens on the D850.

Q: 3. I love Zeiss lenses & currently own milvus 25mm & APO Sonnar 135mm lenses. I currently have Sigma 85mm Art lens & thinking of buying a Milvus 85mm or Sigma 105mm Art lens & sell 85mm Art later. I shoot portraits using live view, so manual focus is not an issue. From purely optical quality perspective, which lens is the better in terms of bokeh, color, micro contrast, sharpness an subject separation ability?

A: My recommendation is to rent the lens and compare. Many of the attributes you call out are subjective and cannot be measured / compared between brands. The only way to know for sure is a side-by-side comparison using the same camera, lighting and subject matter.

Q: 4. How un-sealed against weather is the Otus? I have a Milvus 15/2.8, and now an Otus 28/1.4. The 50 or 55 is next, which I plan to use for landscape and astro-pano with my 810A. I don't plan to be in rainstorms or sandstorms, but the lack of weather-sealing has me a bit concerned, given its expense what was Zeiss thinking?, and the fact that I will be taking pics in marine shore and humid environments.

A: The ZEISS Otus lenses are not weather sealed. As long as the lens is not exposed directly to rain or dusty environments, there is little risk of damage. When used in high humidity conditions, care should be taken to acclimate the lens to prevent internal fogging of the elements. Storage of the lens under these conditions should be done in sealed bags using a desiccant.

Q: 5. will the Blackmagic 6K Pro control the electronic aperture?

A: Yes, ZEISS Milvus 21mm f/2.8 ZE Lens for Canon EF has the electronic contacts on thelens mount which would allow Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro (Canon EF) to control aperture and other electronic feature on the lens. The focus is the only manual operation that you can not control through the camera.

Q: 6. Would the Zeiss Large Lens Gear fit this or do you recommend a different one for cinemod?

A: The ZEISS Lens Gear (Large) is not compatible with the ZEISS Milvus 15mm f/2.8 ZE Lens for Canon EF.

Q: 7. Does the Milvus provide focus assist in the view finder?

A: Yes, with the shutter pressed half way and as the lens is focused, the focus assist in the camera viewfinder is utilized.

Q: 8. Is this lens made in Germany? Or Japan?

A: The following lens is made in japan.

Q: 9. Does this lens have internal focusing? I would be using it with a matte box and would like to keep the option of filters open.

A: The ZEISS Milvus 1.4/25 features internal focusing and there is no front telescoping of the barrel while focusing.

Q: 10. Does this lens have an aperture ring? With all these product images, there is not a single picture that shows apertures

A: No, you control the aperture through the camera body.

[Parts & Labor] One of the reason why I purchased the K-70 from B&H was the availability to purchase the Pentax extended warranty (extends it to 3 years) at a reasonable price. B&H has an excellent reputation and being able to purchase the extended Pentax warranty was icing on the cake.

[Extended] A sudden gust of wind blew over my tripod and sent my last camera, only 1 year old, crashing to the ground rendering it inoperable. Unfortunately it is too costly to fix nor do I have any insurance on it. It's not only the cost of the camera that I lost but also the investment in time getting to know my camera. In my opinion, it's well worth it to protect my investment.

[Parts & Labor] I haven't had to use the extended warranty or damage protection yet (knock on wood) but I feel confident having it. I was able to create an online Sony portal to refer back to my coverage and get relevant information. It was easy to set up and at a great price.

[Parts & Labor] The Sony Factory Extended Warranties are an excellent addition to any new VTR or camera purchase. There are no difficult third party hoops to jump through or requirements to satisfy. You simply register the item and the warranty online, and submit a copy of the receipt and warranty with the unit when it's sent in for factory service instead of submitting payment information. All other aspects of the factory repairs remain the same, except that the end user doesn't pay for them! I would highly recommend this purchase to anyone buying new Sony products.
