Q: 1. Why do we need a coax cable?

A: It depends on where the Internet Service provider brings the COAX into the house. Some do come with a short COAX in case you have coax throughout the house and you have a wall port that you want to wire the Modem to. Some ISP providers wire the cable through the wall and go directly to the modem.

[512] I have this and a smaller one at the other end of the house. I have 10 G between. All my 2.5 stuff came up to speed too. I am happy with my purchase.

[Yes] The QNAP does extremely well using auto negotiation on my mixed network. All 10 Gb network cards (OWCPCIE10Gb) from B&H run at rated speeds. Direct 10 Gb transfers between (2) computers with NVMe drives averages slightly over 1 GigaByte/s. Primarily purchased for large backup image and rendered file transfers between multiple computers and a backup server using CAT6a (10'-30') and CAT8 (95'-120') cables. No dropouts during multiple transfers taking place. Plays well with the 2.5 Gb cards and (1) ancient Intel 1.0 Gb card still in the network as well. Also will support up to (8) VLANs, link aggregation and Spanning Tree Protocol.

Management is web based, straightforward and easy to set up or change using either the MGMT RJ45 port or web browser connected via the RJ45 or SFP+ ports. Used an SFP+ module to test all SFP+ ports. All port properly negotiate to NIC rated speeds.

Switch is quiet even though the twin fans spin at 4k+ RPM. (3) fan curve options in setup. The front and top surfaces stay between 89° to 94°F (pyrometer checked). SFP+ module tops out at 95°F on the exposed faces under load. Rated maximum power is 48.6 watts. Internal DC power supply with a 120V AC cord instead of a clumsy 4+ amp power brick.

Have a few more 10Gb cards to purchase yet. Only had it for a few weeks, but it's certainly been doing the job. About the same price as a Netgear 10 port 10Gb managed switch, 4 ports of which are only 2.5Gb. Only about $50 more than a Buffalo 8 port 10 Gb unmanaged switch.

A switch that you can grow into instead of out of for a SOHO network. It's a keeper fer shur.

[16.615 lb] I am normally a person that uses enterprise equpment like Cisco, Brocade, etc.

Wanting high performance hardware with all the features expected in a professional environment.

Getting a consumer switch means giving up a lot in some situations.

I just recently upgraded to Wifi 7 and needed a switch for Multi-Gig RJ45 and instead of getting a switch with just enough ports for similar cost, this switch had by far the most 10gb connectivity for the price and it was also managed to allow me to do mose of the basic things I want to do.

It runs completly silent, and nice and cool.
For the average home this might be expensive but for someone who needs it, they know this is actually pretty cheap.

[Fan] I have primarily used HPE/Aruba switches for the last 20 years but they are becoming more and more expensive and more difficult to recommend to small clients. I tested out a Netgear M4300 3 years ago and it had all of the features I needed for a much better price.
This is actually the 4th Netgear M4300 model I have purchased and its a great device. It has a large feature set similar to the HPE/Aruba switches I have used before. The web and command-line interface are both fairly intuitive. The manuals are very detailed.

[0.8 to 2.3 µs] This is small but mighty. Fast internal bus, really simple user interface (it’s a switch, but it has good stuff like bonding that is really simple to set up).
Easy 10.

I don't have a lot of experience setting up networks but this switch is so user friendly.
The login interface is super clean looking and easy to navigate.

[56.3 dB] I was looking for a network switch for my office that could handle 10-gigabit connections over RJ-45 (to connect my PC and Synology NAS) but it was difficult to find one that didn't have negative reviews either due to heat or noise. I gave this switch a shot and it's worked extremely well so far. You can set it to use a quiet profile for the fans so that it's not quite as loud and it's been very reliable and performant so far. I can easily transfer While the unit is certainly not silent (the fans are small and can produce a high-pitch hum at times), it is quiet enough to be placed in my office and blends in with the fan noise from other devices like the NAS. Unless it's under a high load or I'm specifically listening for it, I don't even notice it. With larger transfers, I have seen transfer speeds of 550 MB/s to an SSD on my NAS, which is about what I would expect.

[320 Gb/s ] This switch was a breeze to deploy, and we've seen a huge improvement in quality across all of our NDI devices compared to our previous Cisco switch, which was forced on us by our IT group.
