A: The vello 60 hood fits this lens. I could not find a canon hood made for it.

Q: 5. what is the diff between EF and EF-s lenses?How important is STM on a lense for this camera?

A: EF lenses are full-frame lenses designed by Canon that are compatible on all Canon EOS 35mm SLR and DSLR cameras alike, manufactured since 1987. All Canon EOS cameras have a red dot on the lens mount and can accommodate an EF lens. Canon EF-S lenses are designed for Canon DSLR cameras that use the smaller APS-C 1.6x cropped sensor cameras. Canon EF-S lenses have a white square on the lens mount, and only attach to the smaller sensor Canon cameras with a white square on the lens mount. STM lenses use Canon's new Stepping Motor designed for smooth, quiet and fast focusing during video recording when using a camera compatible with Movie AF. Video capture is the only time you may notice a difference between STM and non-STM lenses, so if you are using continuous autofocus with the Canon SL1, then an STM lens would be beneficial.

Q: 6. After taking a picture, nothing comes up on the screen.What do I do?

A: In the camera Menu you have the option to set "Image Review". Most likely this is set to off. If you wish to see the image, select one of the options for reviewing the image right after it is taken.

A: This product comes with a one year, limited Canon USA warranty.

Q: 8. This camera is compatible with analog 35-80mm lens and flash 380EX?

A: The Canon 380EX will work but not on all functions, such as rear curtain sync. It will work in general E-TTL.If the lens you are referring to is the Canon FD mount 35-70 that will not fit on the camera without an FD to EOS mount adapter.

A: Yes it has an optional IR remote you can buy

[0.325 lb] I am very satisfied with this camera. It takes fantastic photos, is super easy to use, light weight and not bulky to carry around. [Yes] For a small camera, this packs a wallop. One of the nicest features that I like is the silent shutter mode. I have it paired up with a 1.4 50mm and the pictures come out great. Sure the focus isn't the same as my 5D, but still pretty spot on. Great buy to have as a walk around camera. Very light weight and the battery holds up well. 5

[Yes] No issues. Installation was easy as you can use the lip on the inside edge of the screen for a guide while applying the screen protector. The touch screen still works flawlessly. 5

[Yes] I wanted an updated DSLR to replace an old EOS Rebel and wished to dedicate it to 'Big Bertha' my wife's telephoto zoom, so I didn't want to spend a lot, but i needed a capable camera that would not disappoint. I got the SL1 because it had many features of its bigger brothers yet was inexpensive and very light. Some claim to want a beefier DSLR to 'balance' their heavy lens. After lugging around such a heavy combo, I opted for the opposite approach. Buying the SL1 reminded me of buying my VW Rabbit instead of the GTI. You get most of the desired features, lose some performance, but still get all the fun while saving a lot of cash. This camera will not disappoint. 5

[0.325 lb] This is my novice entrance into photography. From what I can tell the camera is great for a beginner. It came highly recommended by friends that are professional photographers. Everything is easy to get to and is pretty light. This body will last me a good while and I look forward to see in it produces everytime I pick it up. 5

[Black] I bought 5 of these cameras for my HS photography class and the kids love them. They are very user friendly and they love the touch screen. An excellent starter camera for my students. The simple descriptions of each setting in manual mode is very helpful for the beginners that tend to forget what does what. 5
