Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is there a reciprocity factor with this film due to long exposures?

A: I haven't noticed anything significant out to 30 seconds. I use it a lot for city night photography where exposures are around 4-16 seconds with great results. I'm not doing anything too technical though.

Q: 2. Can this film be used with non-lomography cameras? I shoot with a 35mm Olympus O1 and typically use black and white film, but I want to explore the color range of this film. Will it work?

A: That film can be used with any camera which accepts 35mm film.

Q: 3. hican you guys ship film to the united arab emirates ?

A: Yes we can. You may calculate your actual shipping options/order totals by adding the items you want to a shopping cart and entering a destination zip code or country. You will then see a list of shipping options and Estimated Shipping Times to your location.

Q: 4. what type of camera can be used for this film?

A: Its 35mm film. Its for 35mm cameras.

Q: 5. Does the 5 rolls come in the Kodak box as illustrated on the website?

A: Yes, this is a 5 pack of the Kodak Pro Image 100 Color Negative Film.

Q: 6. Where can I get the film developed without paying an arm and a leg?

A: Please visit our film development for your processing needs.

Q: 7. is negative film the same as slide film?

A: No. Negative film has an orange base and produces a negative image (highlights are dark, shadows are light). It requires scanning and conversion from a negative to a positive image as well as accounting for the orange base.Slide film, on the other hand, produces a positive image on the film and can be scanned much easier as such (the image does not need to be inverted). +Compared to slide film, negative film has more latitude, meaning that it is more flexible and is less likely to give empty shadows or highlights. It also has more dynamic range than slide film.-Conversely, negative film is also lower contrast than slide film, lower saturation, has more grain, and is less sharp.Ektar 100, in particular, is less flexible than the Kodak Portra family of negative films (160/400). It behaves more like slide film than negative film in that it is higher contrast, less flexible, sharper, and more saturated. It is still, however, a negative film. For a film with more latitude (i.e. easier to use), stick to Portra which will also have better skin tones.

Q: 8. What country is this film made in?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is China. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 9. Is this film DX coded?

A: Yes

Q: 10. If this film is NAFTA Qualified, do you complete the paperwork for shipping to Canada?

A: Yes, B&H does all the paperwork.

[35mm] I shoot film for two reasons:
1. Film lets me shoot with old cameras. (My favorites right now are the Nikon F2 and Nikon S2. I also shoot a Nikon FE which I like very much.) Older cameras don't necessarily take "better" pictures, but I think I take better pictures with them. I have to slow down and be more deliberate. This doesn't mean I can't shoot something that is happening at high-tempo, but I just have to plan better.

2. Film renders images differently than one of my digital cameras. Colors, contrasts, dynamic range -- all different. Not necessarily "better," but different. Better is a matter of opinion based on whatever criteria you establish. Sometimes "better" is not technically superior; it just looks really nice.

So, this review is following my first roll of Lomo100. I was shooting my F2 with a 50mm f/2.

Lomo100 has a nice clean look about it. Contrast is pretty good in strong outdoor light where you'll probably be using 100 speed film anyway. Colors are not super-saturated, but nice. It renders color somewhere between Portra and Ektar. It's a tad bit grainy for a 100 speed film -- but see note 2 above -- NBD. It's inexpensive and fun to shoot. Although I shoot more expensive films on occasion, I have a hard time justifying it in a 35mm camera when you can have a great time with stuff like this, Fuji C200, and Agfa 200 (if you can still find some).

[100] The best film I've used so far. The colors are so vibrant and saturated. Will definitely try other Lomography films (400 & 800 ISO) next!

[C-41] I bought a 3-pack not know what to expect, an inconsistency perhaps. The film performed beyond my expectations. I think Kodak makes this film for Lomography, where as Ferrania (now defunct) used to make it for them until a few years ago. I shot it in separate cameras, Minolta and Konica with both giving me slightly varying results. Overall, the film handled very well, especially when overexposed about 1/2 of a stop. I'll be buying more when it is back in stock.

[0.065 lb] Great colors, especially in studio work. I develop and scan myself and find it easy to work with as it's super flat and has a clear base.
