The Laowa Aurogon FF 10-50x NA0.5 Supermicro APO Lens Sony Efrom Laowa Aurogon FF 10-50x NA0.5 Supermicro APO Lens Sony Eis a microphotography lens system that can be directly used on cameras without the need to use microscope adapters. It features four seamlessly interchangeable magnification tubes, offering 10x, 20x, 35x, and 50x magnification options. The adjustable numerical aperture (NA) of this microscope lens ranges from 0.5 to 0.1, the high NA providing room for exceptional brightness and minimal diffraction. The lens is designed with a fixed 0.79" long working distance, ensuring both flexibility and convenience for the lighting setup, and you can easily change magnification without having to reset focus and lighting for stable microscopic shooting setups.

The apochromatic lens design minimizes chromatic aberrations in all magnification ratio for outstanding resolution. The eight grades of Numerical Aperture (NA) values from 0.5 to 0.15 indicated on the objective lens addresses the depth of field for microscopic shooting. The wide NA provided combined with ample lighting ensures that when capturing images, a lower ISO value can be used, resulting in a higher resolution image. The Laowa Aurogon is suitable for use in both still and video applications.

Q: 1. If the lens needs warranty service, do I have to send it to Hong Kong?

A: For more information regarding warranty service on this Laowa 85mm f/5.6 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens, you may e-mail the manufacturer to support@venuslens.net.

Q: 2. Will this lens also have soft corners like most Laowa lenses?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f/5.6 FF RL Lens for Sony E is one of the smallest super wide angle lens ever made. With an angle of view of 135 deg you have to expect slight darkening of the corners when shooting with a Full frame sensor. You can see sample images at Peta Pixel here: https://petapixel.com/2020/06/30/the-laowa-9mm-f-5-6-is-the-worlds-widest-rectilinear-full-frame-lens/

Q: 3. why choose this vs the 90? or vice versa?

A: The 85mm is much smaller and lighter weight than the 90mm. Dimensions (ø x L) 2.1 x 3.2" / 53 x 81 mm, Weight 10.3 oz / 291 g vs the 90mm Dimensions (ø x L) 2.9 x 4.7" / 74 x 120 mm Weight 21.8 oz / 619 g. But the 90mm is better for low light and better bokeh.

A: What sets the Venus Optics Laowa 100mm T2.9 2x Macro APO FF Cine Lens (Sony E) apart from the Venus Optics Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens for Sony E is that the housing is much more durable with a front mount designed for clamp on matte boxes, the aperture is declicked and measured in T-stops rather than F-stops for the most accurate representation of the light transference of the lens and the filter size on the front is 77mm rather than 67mm.

Q: 6. Laowa 85mm f/5.6 macro lens m mount how well does it woerk with an adaptor if want to use wit Fuji, Sony and Leica L mount have all 3 and ddwant m mount if can use for all 3?

Q: 7. Laowa makes a custom filter holder for this lens. Can I purchase it at B &H?

A: Sorry , we don't sell it

Q: 8. Does this have hard focus stops?

A: The focus is smooth but it does have Selectable Clicked / De-Clicked Aperture. Photographers might prefer the clicked aperture ring while de-clicked would be better for video.

Q: 9. Will this work on a Sony a7siii? Or will I need some sort of adapter

A: The Canon RF mount version of the Venus Optics Laowa 100mm T2.9 2x Macro APO FF Cine Lens will only mount on a canon system, you have to go with the Sony E mount version made for full frame cameras.

[Manual Focus] For the money this lens is pure gold. Full manual mode so you must have a basic knowledge of photography. Not weatherproof so be careful. I've seen a lot of reviews bashing this lens but I feel as if those reviews are from inexperienced photographers. If you're looking for a great Macro lens at a smaller price tag this is the ONE. Add a flash and a diffuser and BAM you will create some jaw dropping images.

[10 to 50x] Requires very precise positioning of camera, subject and lighting to get the best out of it.

[Manual Focus] The Laowa 100mm is a nice investment for someone who is looking to upgrade out of the kit lens. I've been eyeing this lens for almost a year, and after seeing reviews and breakdowns, this lens is well worth it. The manual focus is a great exercise in pushing camera users to learn the in's and out's of their camera settings and more. I encourage any user who wishes to pick up this lens to take into consideration your familiarity with (1) ISO, lighting and settings, (2) and hand strength and control. Any little movement will greatly affect the blur / sharpness radius of your subject whether it's an insect, flower, or other knick-knack.

[Full-Frame] Excited to have these for macro photography, but buyers should know at least mine arrived dark grey rather than black.

[10 to 50x] After shooting with Canon L and Sony macro lenses I wasn't expecting much from this lower priced lens. I've been impressed and the 2x aspect is very beneficial at times. If you don't need AF this is a strong consideration.

[Manual Focus] I own the canon 100mm macro lens, which is great, however I was getting frustrated not being able to get as close as I wanted to certain subjects or details. When I learned about Laowa 100mm 2:1 lens, it really only took a month for me to decide I needed to give it a shot (haha get the pun?). There was a slight learning curve going back to a fully manual lens, but let's be honest, you really should take time to practice and learn any new lens you purchase. In no time I was loving the unique images from this lens paired with my Canon R6.

[f/0.5] I have been looking for a macro lens that I could use for other than macro photography and the Venus Optics Laowa 100mm f2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO lens fits that bill perfectly. Again B&H photo had the best lens I could have imagined at the right price. As a 100mm lens it is sharp and easy to use and as a macro it is unsurpassed. My use of this great lens has been limited as I was sidelined with serious heart surgery that i still am recovering but I did get to use it enough to know that I have exactly what I want thanks to Venus Optics and B&H photo.

[9] This lens is everything Laowa promises it to be. Please see the picture I have uploaded so see how sharp this lens is while rendering saturated colors. Yes, it is a manual lens and it requires a tripod to achieve best results, but this lens is also excellent for subjects other than macro photography. Congrats Laowa! I can highly recommend this lens with confidence.

[Sony E] The Laowa 100mm, combined with the Sony A7IV, represents a great macro solution. This lens is built like a tank. The ability to zoom in at 2:1 offers an advantage over most other macro lens offerings. I found the Laowa to be incredibly sharp from f/2.8 - f/11. Even at f/16, diffraction barely impacts photo quality.
The Focus Peaking and Zoom features on the Sony A7IV work well with the Laowa to ensure your subject is in focus.
Macro photography with a manual-focus lens such as the Laowa does require some patience and practice, however, so expect to spend some time refining your technique.
The only improvements I would suggest would be: 1. A slightly firmer clicking mechanism for the aperture ring and, 2. Changing the gear ratio of the manual focus ring to provide more incremental adjustments.
