The Laowa Aurogon FF 10-50x Supermicro APO Lens for FUJIFILM GFXfrom Laowa Aurogon FF 10-50x Supermicro APO Lens for FUJIFILM GFXis a microphotography lens system that can be directly used on cameras without the need to use microscope adapters. It features four seamlessly interchangeable magnification tubes, offering 10x, 20x, 35x, and 50x magnification options. The adjustable numerical aperture (NA) of this microscope lens ranges from 0.5 to 0.1, the high NA providing room for exceptional brightness and minimal diffraction. The lens is designed with a fixed 0.79" long working distance, ensuring both flexibility and convenience for the lighting setup, and you can easily change magnification without having to reset focus and lighting for stable microscopic shooting setups.

The apochromatic lens design minimizes chromatic aberrations in all magnification ratio for outstanding resolution. The eight grades of Numerical Aperture (NA) values from /0.5 to /0.15 indicated on the objective lens addresses the depth of field for microscopic shooting. The wide NA provided combined with ample lighting ensures that when capturing images, a lower ISO value can be used, resulting in a higher resolution image. The Laowa Aurogon is suitable for use in both still and video applications.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi! Aside from the cine gears, what's the difference between this lens and the laowa 100mm f2.8?

A: What sets the Venus Optics Laowa 100mm T2.9 2x Macro APO FF Cine Lens (Sony E) apart from the Venus Optics Laowa 100mm f/2.8 2X Ultra Macro APO Lens for Sony E is that the housing is much more durable with a front mount designed for clamp on matte boxes, the aperture is declicked and measured in T-stops rather than F-stops for the most accurate representation of the light transference of the lens and the filter size on the front is 77mm rather than 67mm.

Q: 2. How are warranty issues handled with this lens?

A: Warranty claims can be sent to the manufacturer via e-mail to support@venuslens.net. .

Q: 3. What is the front diameter for matte box attachment?

A: The front diameter of the Venus Optics Laowa 100mm T2.9 2x Macro APO FF Cine Lens is 80mm.

Q: 4. Will the camera show focus peak highlights with this lens since it is manual focus only?

A: Focus peaking can be used with manual lenses such as this.

Q: 5. What is the difference between the close focus distance and the minimum working distance? Does this spec difference mean you can focus on subjects less than 3" away from the lens?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 100mm T2.9 2x Macro APO FF Cine Lens' (Canon RF) close focus distance is the minimal focal distance form the sensor plane, which is 9.7", and the 2.8" minimum distance is the minimum focal distance from the end of the lens.

Q: 6. shutter isnt working, do I nee to do anuything in my camera settings? GFX series

A: You need to set the camera to shoot without a lens. In this link it shows where in the menu to set that. http://fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/gfx50s/menu_setup/button-dial_setting/index.html#shoot_without_lens

Q: 7. Is it 25mm on Canon mirrorless full frame R6? Thanks

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Argus 25mm f/0.95 CF APO Lens (Canon RF) is a lens designed for APS-C sized sensors. On the Canon EOS R6 Mirrorless Camera this will still perform like a 25mm, but with heavy vignetting. It may make most sense to use it in the 1.6x crop on that camera.

Q: 8. Are the GFX and Canon EF version the same lens with different mounts? Adapted to the GFX, would the Canon version work as well?

A: The GFX and the Canon EF variants of the lens are the same. The only difference are the mounts. Either one will work, although the Canon version will need an adapter.

Q: 9. what would it take to put it on a sony 77a ?

A: Hi--you would need a lens adapter for Fuji G-mount lens to Sony A-mount camera, but we don't have such an adapter.

Q: 10. APS-C or FF? (Does" CF" mean "Cropped Frame, like with Tokina?)

A: Venus Optics Argus 25mm F/0.95 CF APO Lens for Canon RF BH #VE2595RF • MFR #VE2595RF is a APS-C lens and CF means close focus as the lens has a minimum focus distance of 34 cm.

[f/0.5] The lens is well made and sharp enough

[9] This is my first Laowa lens, but it won't be my last. I get that this is a photo lens. And that real cinema lenses have gears for motors etc, but the focus throw on this lens is so long that it makes focusing handheld (and with its shallow depth of field) a breeze.

You can break down your rig as light as possible, as I've done in the photo I've attached and use focus peaking or the manual scales on the lens to focus.

It's built incredibly well. It's all metal, but lightweight and portable, so you're inspired to take it anywhere you just want to document life as it happens around you. The focal length is a little tight on crop sensor, but I find it's the sweet spot to give just enough compression between your subject and background. There's just something about 33/35 mm lens on s35 sensors that look really good.

On the Red Komodo- X, this is about 43mm in 6k 17:9 mode. It;s also APO, which helps reduce chromatic aberration (the purple-ish/greenish fringing around edges in bright conditions). Yes there's still some, but nowhere near as much as you'd expect for an aperture around f/0.95 aperture.

The images look really good, too. For some reason, I feel like there's some barrel distortion... which I love, or maybe just some kind of 3d pop for images framed in the center. I can't explain it, but there's a lovely character to this lens.

I have an R6 Mark II, which is full frame, and this won't work without heavy vignetting on the corners since the image circle doesn't cover full frame cameras. Again, this lens is made only for crop factor (The CF on the side of the lens) cameras (aps-c and super 35,) On full frame or anything else, you'll need to use a digital tele converter or crop-in in post (which ultimately reduces resolution.)

Anyway, hope this helps someone!

[f/0.15] Great lens - great build quality and fantastic performance. Astonishing field of view and can get incredibly close to subjects; much more so than the official spec would suggest! My new favourite for creative medium-format work.

[15.505 lb] I love this lens! I love the long slow focus - it makes it so much easier to get the exact focus I want. Sure, it's not fast, but that's not why I got a manual focus lens. So far, the images I'm getting from this lens are great and I look forward to getting more lenses from Venus Optics!

[10 to 50x] I do emphasise heavily using the lens for landscapes & panoramas but a shift lens also once was used for single frame architecture keeping buildings 'straight'.

Considering current software controls that allow such straightening, is there any reason to spend this much money for a shift lens other than using it for Landscape & panoramas

Large sensors and lenses with better corners used with AI image improvement might make expensive mechanical answers to the problem less important today.

A real added value to each Fuji GFX users

So long Fuji will develop in the time frame of 2023 a Shift lens you can perform at present time to score with High ranking results in as Architectural and Landscape results

[5.56 to 18.5mm] This laowa lens resolves very well on my GFX100 and it literally has no distortion at all. Being an architecture photographer, this lens is a GEM. Love how compact it is when compared to the Canon 17 TS. This will be my go-to lens for architecture job as well as landscape photography. Patiently waiting for the 100mm filter holder to release.

[5.56 to 18.5mm] At the end of the day, I'd have been happy with a junk feel if it produced good images. This does that, but feels good to use as well. Good feel for the aperture ring, the focusing is nice and smooth, the DOF scale printed on the lens barrel is really nice. The metal construction feels really good in my hands, actually a nice change from Fuji's plastic lenses. Even though it adds a bunch of weight it still doesn't feel unwieldy. Close focus and infinity focus both looked great.

[FUJIFILM G] Excited to have these for macro photography, but buyers should know at least mine arrived dark grey rather than black.

[f/0.5] This is a sharp tool for a particular purpose, but once mastered there are many ways to apply it. It is an extreme wide-angle (equivalent to 12mm full-frame) lens with very little edge distortion, and nearly all of the field of view is in focus if you want that. The controls are smooth, precise, easy to reach, and ENTIRELY manual. There aren’t any electronics in the lens, so you must use the camera’s electronics to assess the light coming through the lens.

I used to adore the Canon 17mm T/S lens when I could borrow one, but this lens satisfies that need. It was designed for the GFX, so no vignetting in the corners! I can get into scenes I could not cover before.
