Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If a nanolockit its connected to my panasonic gh5 will the camera internal mics still record audio and if the Panasonic DMW-XLR1 XLR is connected?

A: If the camera has no XLR adapter and you plug the NanoLockit's time code cable into the 3.5 mm jack, the camera's internal microphone is off.If they feed it into one of the inputs of the Panasonic DMW-XLR1 XLR Microphone Adapter B&H # PADMWXLR1 , you can still connect a microphone to the second XLR.

Q: 2. Does this require an audio recorder or some other device to send timecode to it?

A: The Ambient Recording NanoLockit Miniature Timecode Synchronizer with Logging Feature generates its own timecode.

Q: 3. Do I need a special cable to connect the NanoLockit Miniature to a Sony FX9 camera?

A: Yes, you will need the Ambient Recording LTC-OUT Lockit Time Code Out to BNC / L5P-BNC(BH #AMLTCOUT) to connect the Ambient Recording NanoLockit Miniature Timecode Synchronizer with Logging Feature to your FX9.

Q: 4. If I am plugging this into a dslr to jam timecode on the camera, am I still able to record audio on the camera, or this unit takes up BOTH camera audio channels?

A: The Ambient Recording ACN-NL-L NanoLockit Miniature Timecode Synchronizer with Logging Feature (2-Pack) (B&H# AMACNNLLD) can deliver timecode to one channel of the audio recorded by a typical two channel (typically called stereo) audio recording capable camera. As such, you would still have the other channel free for recording audio from a microphone or other audio source.

Q: 5. will it work with Sennheiser mmd 935?

A: No, the HHAII-S is not compatible for use with the Sennheiser MMD 935. The Ambient Recording HHA-SSH Handheld Microphone Adapter (B&H # AMHHASSH) is the correct model to use to convert a Sennheiser MMD 935 mic capsule for use with Sony/Shure/Lectrosonics handheld mic transmitters.

Q: 6. You can get two Atomos UltraSync Ones for less than this, and those have displays. Is there some advantage to NanoLockit?

Q: 8. Can this use with C300MKII and Sound Devive Premix6 as the C300mkII has a timecode input with sdi cable, does NanoLockit has a SDi adapter?

A: According to Ambient: The NanoLockit does not have a SDI port. To supply the Canon C300 MKII with time code, you have to use the camera's BNC TC port. For syncing up this camera with the new Sound Devices MixPre-6, you will need the ACN-ML-D double pack and the LTC-OUT cable. Ambient Recording LTC-OUT Lockit Time Code Out to BNC / L5P-BNC B&H # AMLTCOUT

Q: 9. Can the battery be user replaced when necessary?

A: The battery is built into the NanoLockit and not user serviceable.

Q: 10. Can this record a timecode sequence on its own, not connected to any cameras or other devices, and then have its’ data overlayed over a separate timecoded sequence in post, with the green or red markers showing on the timeline?

A: The Ambient Recording NanoLockit Miniature Timecode Synchronizer with Logging Feature (Single Unit) will log markers based on timecode. As long as the timecode is jammed before recording, those markers can be imported into an Adobe Premiere Pro timeline. You can read more about that process here: https://bhpho.to/3xNZtLi

[Polyurethane] Like all Ambient products, well-made. And I don't have to mess with wiring up the fiddly bits of the Lemo connector.

[Yes] Bought to sync my NanoLockit to an Alexa Mini. Worked without issues and took a reasonable amount of abuse.

[Polyurethane] I've been making, testing and using different hydrophones since 1968, and this is one of the best sounding and noise-free devices I've used to date. While expensive, it's a fine tool to work with.

[Polyurethane] It took me years to decide what pole to buy. I’ve used the ktek Klassic a ton for shoots but I never really liked the feel of them. A couple years ago I bought the travel boom by Ambient and it quickly became my “go to” boom for “run and gun” shoots.

However, there were a few shoots the travel boom could not reach talent. So I had to use my old pole. I recently bought this and it has been amazing. The new 1/4 turn locks have made it the fastest locking pole I have used. The internal cable so far hasn’t given me any noise issues. And the new easy to take apart system gives me confidence that I won’t have to struggle with any potential “coil-jamming”.

I really love the slick look of the carbon fiber design. I always get asked about my boom by other audio people on set who haven’t seen an ambient boom.

I will probably be ordering another soon for dual boom op situations.

[Polyurethane] This is one of those products you set and forget. Once you mount the adaptor it works and advertised and you never have to think about it again which is credit to it's excellent manufacturing. The adaptor performs it's intended function flawlessly. I have four of these adaptors. My original two are still going strong, after several years of heavy touring, and I just bought two more. Extremely satisfied with this product.
