The black Shure AD2/K11B is a digital handheld wireless microphone transmitter compatible with Axient Digital series receivers.

The AD2/K11B comes equipped with a KSM11B condenser capsule featuring a cardioid polar pattern with consistent off-axis rejection that focuses audio capture on the talent and picks up less background noise. The capsule offers an aluminum and steel grille that protects the mic and provides a 3-layer pop filter to help reduce breath and plosive noises. The built-in shockmount helps reduce handling noise during live performance for clearer vocals. The deep cardioid pattern offers solid gain before feedback, with minimal off-axis coloration, for a warm, full sound.

The transmitter operates in a single 146 MHz ultrawide UHF bandwidth with selectable 2/10/35mW RF output power and a transmission range up to 330'. It provides up to 8 hours of operation on two AA batteries and up to 9 hours with an SB900A lithium-ion rechargeable battery (available separately).

With a durable, moisture-resistant, lightweight aluminum case, the AD2/KSM11B transmitter delivers pristine audio quality and RF performance, AES 256-bit encryption for secure transmission, and advanced rechargeability options, making it ideal for high-profile, sound-reinforcement applications.

  • The KSM11B is a proprietary wireless condenser microphone capsule utilizing a 3/4" gold diaphragm and premium electronics for exceptional dynamic range and transient response.
  • The capsule features a highly consistent, deep cardioid polar pattern that reduces off-axis phase distortion for pristinely focused vocal reproduction to provide rich and full low-frequency response, linear and transparent midrange, and natural high-end detail.
  • The dent-resistant, three-stage "pop" protection grille reduces plosives, wind, and other breath noise.
  • The interchangeable capsule design allows you to replace the KSM11B capsule with a Shure capsule that’s ideal for your application and simply screw it onto the transmitter—including KSM9, KSM8, SM58, Beta 58A, Beta 87A, Beta 87C capsules, and more.

  • The unit quickly syncs with a wireless receiver via infrared at the touch of a button.
  • The power button conveniently doubles as mute switch, while preserving RF lock.
  • Frequency and power lockout functions prevent accidental or unauthorized changes during events.
  • A backlit LCD with easy-to-navigate menu and controls lets you quickly access frequency, group, and channel settings, along with mute and lock status, RF output, and remaining battery life.
  • Offset function lets you balance mic levels when assigning multiple transmitters to a single receiver slot. Adjustment range: -12 to +21 dB.
  • 2/10/35mW selectable RF output power allows you to increase either the transmitter's range or the number of mics operating simultaneously.
  • Two transmission modes: Standard for optimal coverage with lowest latency and High-Density for maximum system channel count and robust coverage.

  • Optional SB900A rechargeable battery offers intelligent power management with precision metering in hours and minutes, and zero memory effect.
  • External charging contacts allow for docked battery charging.
  • SBC220 two-bay and SBC840 eight-bay networked chargers (both available separately) allow for remote power monitoring via Shure’s Wireless Workbench software.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you use this system with an analog EW100 system for panel discussion or is the delay going to cause out of sync problems?

A: The Sennheiser EW-D 835-S SET Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone System has a latency of about 1.9 ms, so the offset will not be substantial when used alongside an analog wireless system.

Q: 2. Can you change the capsule of this transmitter to something like an sE electronics v7 capsule or a telefunken capsule

A: The Sennheiser SKM 825-XSW-A Handheld Transmitter is specified for use with Sennheiser Evolution series capsules and is not compatible with third party microphone capsules from brands such as sE Electronics or Telefunken.

Q: 3. I have 5 of these, do you sell a small rack they can all go in? Shelf and rack mount screws are included.

A: For a rackmount case that will hold five of the Sennheiser EW 100 G4-835-S Wireless Handheld Microphone Systems, you may like the SKB 4U Roto Shallow Rack Case with Steel Rails (B&H # SK1SKBR4S) or the SKB 3U Roto Shallow Rack Case with Steel Rails (B&H # SK1SKBR3S), the Gator Pro-Series Roto-Molded Military-Grade Rack Case - 13" Deep, 4 RU - B&H # GAGPRO4U13) or the Gator Pro-Series Roto-Molded Military-Grade Rack Case - 13" Deep, 3 RU (B&H # GAGPRO3U13), the SKB 4U Soft Rack Case (B&H # SK1SKBSC194U) or the SKB 3U Soft Rack Case (B&H # SK1SKBSC193U). The five wireless receivers will fit in a 3RU case, but if you want an extra space for storage, then the 4RU is the better option.

Q: 4. My samsonch99 lost Network after it fell down.what can i do ?

A: You can purchase another Samson CH99 Handheld Transmitter to replace the broken one that you have.

Q: 5. will this item can be added to my existing "Sennheiser XSW 2-865-A Wireless Handheld Mic Sys w/ e865 Cap (A: 548 to 572 MHz)?

A: The Sennheiser SKM 865-XSW-A Handheld Transmitter with e865 Capsule (A: 548 to 572 MHz) is the compatible handheld transmitter for use with the EM-XSW 2 Receiver from the Sennheiser XSW 2-865-A Wireless Handheld Mic System (A: 548 to 572 MHz). Since the receiver is single-channel, only one transmitter can be used at a time. You cannot use two transmitters at the same time with the EM-XSW 2 Receiver.

Q: 6. Does this system have phantom power protection? For example, if you accidentally turn on phantom power on the mixer to use a condenser mic, will it damage the system?

A: The receiver in the Sennheiser EW 100 G4-945-S Wireless Handheld Microphone System with MMD 945 Capsule does not make any specific indication regarding phantom power precautions. Clearly you do not want to have phantom power engaged on the input it is connected to, but it will likely not damage the receiver either.

Q: 7. Are the included 1/4 wave antennas interchangeable between Q- and R-band receivers or are they different?

A: The included antennas are limited to the frequency band of the receiver they come with.

Q: 8. If I was to build a 4 unit system for panels discussion, how would I identify each mic without it having a display?

A: The Sennheiser EW-D 835-S SET Digital Wireless Handheld Microphone System can be labelled with the Sennheiser EW-D COLOR CODING SET (BH #SEEWDCCS).

Q: 9. We have an old sennheiser mike, ew-100, SKM 100, with frequency range 518,000 - 550,000 Mhz. It works with the Sennheiser diversity receiver EM100, with same frequency range. Will this mike SKM 825-XSW-A, work with the above receiver?

A: This is the XSW series which operates on the 2.4GHz frequencies and is not compatible with the EW series, which are UHF Based systems. You have 2 options for a handheld for your existing system: 1) Get the SKM 100 Transmitter Item# SESKM100G4SA + Capsule Item# SEMMD835 (or if there is another capsule you prefer. 2) Get the SKP100 Plug on transmitter SESKP100G4A and use any Dynamic microphone of your choice. Sennheiser has some great mics but if you already have other mics in your arsenal, it will work perfectly with this plug on transmitter. NOTE: The frequency range on your existing system, and the items I recommended are a little different, but they are in the same range so you will have plenty freqancies to play with.

Q: 10. Is the AA battery 1.2v or 1.5v?

A: The Sennheiser SKM 500 G4 Wireless Handheld Transmitter can run on either a pair of 1.5v AA batteries or the optional rechargeable battery pack.

[Handheld] One of our mics disappeared the day before an important event. B&H had the unit in stock, and I was able to pick it up on my way home! These mics are sturdy, easy to use and sync with the multiple receivers in our facility, and we can get good levels before feedback.

[71.5 dB ] The Ulxd series from Shure is incredibly fast to setup and sync. After using the uhf-r, these are just way better. You also get 3 transmit power levels in this handle which helps out when your antennas are far away from stage. They are metal housed and very strong. The display is very easy to read, ALTHOUGH, I do like the display on the SLXD better, especially on the transmitter. SLXD has better contrast and easier to read. I have also used the Dante on the Ulxd series. Works great. I have 6 in a rack and one cat6 cable puts them all on the network. No xlr needed if you have a Dante enabled mixer. The available frequencies after a scan in WWB6 are usually around 40-50 in Los Angeles in the g50 band, which is plenty for me. The only thing I would like to see Shure improve on is the battery tray contacts. My frantic customers have broken them several times jamming batteries in sideways. Maybe curl the sides of the contacts more so when they do try and sideways insert it might take the battery without snapping off. Other than that, these handles have been rock solid in the many live performances I have used them on.

[50 Hz to 20 kHz] We had an old ULXP from 2007. it still works and everything work fine, but the way this digital captures the audio is so much better.
on the old one i had to give it lots of eq. this new one i only have to eq a little bit. i had to apply lots of gain and high gate on the old one but with this one my gain is not as much and my gate has been lowered significantly. the mic does great at adjusting its own gain. i have not had issue with feedback yet. i love that it uses AA batteries.
so even if you dont buy the rechargable battery pack, you wont spend a fortune on batteries. the old ULXP uses 9v batteries and those are pricey. THe mic feels great in your hand, the metal housing really gives it a different feel. I use the mic on 10mw setting and i havent had issues with transmission. RX is 70 feet away and no issues. i Believe its worth the extra 250 to go from QLXD to ULXD models. if your debating if Q or U, spend the extra 250 and get the U, you wont regret it.

[Cardioid] Shure SM58 continues to be a reliable workhorse. Great sound and singers love them. Also, the staff at B&H was EXCELLENT. As they always do, they were very helpful in explaining the products and making recommendations with NO pressure to buy. They are my go to resource for all audio/video products.
