Q: 1. What is the outer diameter of the lens if I want to mount a clamp-on matte box?

A: This camera has a design that only allows for the included hood to work. You will not be able to add a clamp on matte box to this camcorder.

Q: 2. Can this camera record to the SSD and the SD cards at the same time? I'd love to record ProRes to the SSD, but I need redundancy for the (live) projects I work on.

A: The manufacturer's Operating Manual does not state any restrictions for simultaneous recording. Please note that the appropriate caddy https://bhpho.to/31OFytd and SSD drive must be used to be able to record the higher codec.

Q: 3. Is the lens optically stabilized (3- or 5-axis)?

A: This camera has Optical Image Stabilization. JVC does not specifically list if it is 3 or 5 Axis though.

Q: 4. The GY-HC500 specs indicate this camera only records ProRes in UHD. Can it record ProRes internally in HD (1080p)?

A: At this time JVC only shows ProRes settings as available for UHD 4K recording. For HD recording settings they do not list ProRes as possible.

Q: 5. How does it compare in terms of physical size with the GY-HM620?

A: The JVC GY-HM620 is 7 x 7.8 x 16.3" / 17.8 x 19.8 x 41.6 cm. The JVC GY-HC500U 7.68 x 9.06 x 17.52" / 19.5 x 23.0 x 44.5 cm making it a little bigger.

Q: 6. Does it have a Date/Time stamp?

A: This specification is not stated by JVC. However, most built-in LCD monitors do not reach above 1000 nits and if you are filming in extremely bright daylight scenarios, we recommend using a high-bright external monitor.

Q: 10. Can this model only display sports overlays or can it also display more generic lower 3rd and full screen graphics for non sports live streams?

A: the templates are designed for sports but can be modified to display other text.

[Extended] As my old Pentax cameras have lasted forever and are built like tanks I am not expecting to need this warranty but I purchased it because of the reasonable price and length of the warranty ($50 and for 2 years after the Pentax warranty ends). 5

[Extended] One of the reason why I purchased the K-70 from B&H was the availability to purchase the Pentax extended warranty (extends it to 3 years) at a reasonable price. B&H has an excellent reputation and being able to purchase the extended Pentax warranty was icing on the cake. 5
