Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How would this cable work for connecting a preamp to an audio interface, or connecting a Mesa Boogie Cab Clone to an audio interface in a recording studio environment? Would this work or do I need a Balanced patch cable? Thank you.

A: Line inputs on an audio interface are generally balanced connections or able to use both if the input doubles as a guitar/instrument input. It is best to check the specs on both devices being connected for the proper cable. In most cases using an unbalanced instrument cable will not be an issue for connections that require relatively short runs.

Q: 2. How long is the cable (excluding connectors)?

A: 10 Feet, reasonable with looking at the photo. The listing on Amazon provides the length.

Q: 3. Is the XLR part made of metal or plastic?

A: Sescom manufacturers their own XLR connectors which are metal.

Q: 4. Could I connect this to a wireless mic receiver and record into a Tascam DR-40?

A: Certain wireless mic receivers are specific as to what output cables they are compatible with. While the above cable may work with your receiver, we would suggest looking up the specific output cable used by the system and attempt to purchase that.

Q: 5. Will This work with 6D MII ?

A: Thank you for your question. This will work to connect a microphone to any DSLR with a 3.5mm mic input.

Q: 6. How sturdy is the strain relief on the 1/8in connector?

A: You should find it to be very reliable cable with a good quality molded connector, we have had no claims of failure.

Q: 7. will it deliver phantom power that Canon 80D generates?

A: The Canon 80 D will not deliver phantom power. It offers a very low voltage known as plug-in power . Power will not be carried over this cable successfully.

Q: 8. will the work with sony a92?

A: If you are using a dynamic microphone yes. It will work.

Q: 9. Do these adapters fit properly in Neutrik XLR jacks (used in Sound Device MixPre-6 II field recorders) or do they get stuck?

A: Yes, the Kopul XLR Twist-360 Angled XLR Adapter is compatible with Neutrik XLR jacks.

Q: 10. To get additional length to the cable can I add an additional cable such as another XLR cable or another 3.5mm cable? If so will it affect sound quality?

A: You would need to do a calculation based on the electrical characteristics of your cable and the length to ascertain if the loss will be noticeable. But realistically your loss should be negligible using most balanced. I suggest a star quad type cable (4 conductor, shielded individually).
