[Plastic] Before buying this lens, I read some reviews which complained about the difficulties to fit this lens with filers. I decided to see if I can use the Sony digital filer application with this lens. I have to say that I am very pleased with the results. Now I dons have to buy an expensive filer system and carry it around with me on the trips. This is a great lens, if you use it carefully. I dont think it has too much of distortion. It is very sharp in the middle, bit soft at the edges, which is fine with most of the photos. As I beginner, I dont have much experience on using filers, hoping  someone can also share your experience with the Sony Applications.

[Plastic] I found that I was able to take new photographs from new perspectives with this lens. I normally travel with the F4 24-70, and F4 70-200, so this lens added focal lengths and perspectives that I wasn't able to access before. Great for architecture, and on a recent trip to New York, I was able to get all of buildings in, without having to tilt the camera upwards, which would cause converting Lines issues with a focal length of say 24mm

[Plastic] I have not seen the vignetting that others have reported... The focus has been accurate and fast... Mounted on an a7rii, this lens is a joy to work with... These images have been cropped and minimally processed in PSE 2018

[Plastic] This replaced my Zeiss 16-35mm. I use it primarily for video. Sharp as hell. I love it.

[Plastic] My first ultra wide zoom in this focal length. In the past I have only used ultra wide primes. The biggest drawbacks with ultra wide lenses is the tendency for flare and ghosting. This lens at all focal lengths has very little if any, even shooting into the sun. The images are so sharp corner to corner and has amazing clarity and contrast. I shoot mainly stills, but it has a wider throw for manual focus video if that's your thing. The light weight body of the lens makes it a wonderful lens to keep attached and shoot all day. It's an f/4, but with landscapes I don't shoot anything less than f/4 and usually much higher. I have had it for just a few weeks and have kept it on my body the entire time. It has less of the flaring/ghosting of any of my prime ultra-wide lenses and is much sharper. As far as any chromatic aberration, I have not seen any.
My only drawback is no filter ring which unfortunately is too common in ultra wide lenses. I enjoy using ND filters for long exposure images. Hopefully an attachment will be available soon.
If landscapes, architectural or astrophotography is your genre this is definitely a winning lens. I know I will get many years out of this gem!

[Plastic] I've seen other reviews that indicated installation was difficult. It isn't really if you take your time, do it in a good workspace and carefully align things. I suggest before doing so, you should review the online installation videos as there are several available. Look at them all because each are slightly different and it will give you a different perspective. Believe me it will make the process much easier. As a final note you will only need to buy one set of filters but you must use the correct adapter ring for the lens you will be using with the filters.

[Plastic] I use to work with Sigma 12-24 on A mount and it was a great experience, When I switch to E mount I bought the converters from A to E mount. The Sigma keep doing a great job on my A7RII but Sony decide to launch the 12-24 native e mount and I just have to have it....
With both in my hand I took several pictures to compare. Sigma always was a great and sharp wide angle for Sony A mount, I use to love that lens, but this one is more sharp, is better controlled on corners, it is light, well build, compact, silent, and Sharp, very sharp again!! people complain about the lack of filter thread but there is a lot of filters system that fits on all your lens, it is better than buy filters for any lens diameter that you have, it is my opinion. The design of the lens doesn't allow put a thread to put a filter, it was not because sony did not wanted, it is the front element that doesn't allow that thread, anyway, if you need a wideangle not too fast , this is it, Great great lens.

[Plastic] I purchased the lens for urban photography, for a trip to NYC. It will work for landscapes and interiors as well. I love that the lens is f/4 throughout the 12-24mm zoom range. The lease is tack sharp and because it is a Sony lens, its algorithms match perfectly with my alpha a7R III. A great lens at a fair price.
