Build and expand your network with the Ubiquiti Networks EdgeSwitch, part of the EdgeMAX line of products. The EdgeSwitch is a fully managed PoE+ Gigabit switch, delivering robust performance and intelligent switching for growing networks. The EdgeSwitch offers an extensive suite of advanced Layer-2 switching features and protocols, and also provides Layer-3 routing capability.

The EdgeSwitch offers the forwarding capacity of up to 70 Gb/s to simultaneously process traffic on all ports at line rate without any packet loss.

The EdgeSwitch models offers 48 PoE Gigabit Ethernet ports of auto-sensing IEEE 802.3af/at or configurable 24V Passive PoE to simplify your infrastructure. By default, the EdgeSwitch

automatically detects 802.3af/at devices so they automatically receive PoE. For 24V Passive PoE devices, manually enable 24V passive PoE using the EdgeSwitch Configuration Interface.

The EdgeSwitch provides fiber connectivity options for growing networks. For high-capacity uplinks, the 48-port model includes two SFP and two SFP+ ports, providing up to 10 Gb/s uplinks.

Designed for convenient management, the EdgeSwitch Configuration Interface allows administrators to configure and monitor switch features in a graphical user interface.

For advanced users, an industry-standard command-line interface (CLI) is available through

telnet and SSH.

The EdgeSwitch uses an enhanced operating system that provides basic switching features, PoE configuration per port, and a variety of advanced features including:

• MSTP/RSTP/STP

• VLAN, Private VLAN, Voice VLAN

• Link Aggregation

• DHCP Snooping, IGMP Snooping

• TACACS+, RADIUS, 802.1X, MAC Filtering, ACL

• DiffServ, CoS • Static Routing, Policy-Based Routing

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can 2 of these be mounted side by side with the included brackets?

A: No, the included brackets of the Ubiquiti Networks EdgeSwitch 8-Port 150-Watt Managed PoE+ Gigabit Switch with SFP BH #UBES8150W do not allow for side by side mounting.

Q: 2. How can this be considered POE when it meets no POE standard? What the heck is Ubiquiti trying to pull here... This won't work for my Dante - Studio Tech gear...

A: This model is POE compatible and does inject some wattage into the line, which may or may not be enough to power all of your devices: Electrical Power Draw 8.0 W DC Input Power 24 VDC at 2.5 A PoE per Port 15 W

Q: 3. What is the Max AC/watts and amps of the POE 48-port SFP+ with all 600w of POE used, need this info for circuit required load?

A: This Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Pro PoE 48-Port Gigabit Managed PoE Network Switch with SFP+ would use a max of 660W including the power that the switch itself would use. This would be if every Watt of PoE power is also being used.

Q: 4. Why can I see everything connected to this toughswitch like a hub instead of only the device on the port I am connected to? Is this actually a switch?

A: Please clarify your question. If you configure the ports to be on the same (or no) VLAN then you will see all devices on all ports.Switch works very well.

Q: 5. Can this switch power the ltu rockets?

A: Yes, this switch offers up to 34 watts per port.

Q: 6. Can anyone comment on the fan noise? My last 10 GbE D-Link switch sounded like a 747! Thanks...

A: As a whole all the Ubiquiti switches are quiet.

Q: 7. L2 OR L3?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch US-48-500W 48-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed Switch with SFP+ is L2, but not L3.

Q: 8. Does this 24-Port 250-Watt model ES-24-250W PoE+ switch have internal fans? Noise level?

A: Yes, there are internal fans, and for me the noise level is negligible. I only have two devices on it that require POE at this time and I do not notice the fans at all unless I've power cycled the switch. The very first models (2014ish) did have fan issues, but they've since fixed that through hardware and firmware updates.

Q: 9. Does this have to be used for connecting computers to the internet? I want to use it for connecting multiple BMD 4K monitors to 1 computer.

A: the switch is just for Ethernet! So you can use this to connect to the Ethernet ports of the BMD 4k but that will NOT give you any video signal. That is done via the SDI connection. The Ethernet is just for control and monitoring of the monitors. Bottom line You do not use this for video.

Q: 10. Is this item rated for outdoor use?

A: No, this is for indoor use. If you woudl like to use this for outdoor use, you will need to purchase some sort of enclosure for it.

[17 to 34.2 W] Have used the APs for a long time, and this is the first switch I've had the need/$ to try. Management is great through the controller. While I like the cloud keys... I still tend to think a PC installed controller is a tiny bit more stable. Features on the switch are great, SFP+ ports at this price range are also a bonus. Routing is in the layer 2+ range: not truly layer 3, and they don't advertise it that way anyway. Works great with VOIP phones. For the price, you won't get the same features in major name brands. Don't hesitate if you are unfamiliar with the company.

[Yes] There's a learning curve involved, but it's not too much.

[8] Works as expected, Ubiquiti products have been extremely reliable for me since I discovered them about a year ago. The EdgeSwitch 48 is no exception, it's easy to setup and configure to your needs. The fans are far from silent, so beware of that if you don't have a dedicated space for it.

[Yes] First unit I ordered to Canada was DOA, powered up and just flashed the Ubiquiti light, went through troubleshooting with Ubiquiti and they said that its dead.
Contacted B&H and they sent me and RMA with prepaid shipping label to send it back to them free of charge.  They sent back a brand new one, but Canada charged me duty at the boarder for the new one but again B&H covered those costs for me.  Cant say enough good things about the customer service at B&H and the hassle free buying from Canada is amazing.
Now on to the actual switch.  I use Unifi Access points and a Unifi cloud key along with POE CCTV Cameras.  This things handles anything you throw at it with ease.  Super easy to set up and get going, configuring ports is a breeze with the Unifi software.
Bought the Unifi Fiber SFP and SFP+ units which worked great, just plug in and treat it like a patch cable, set up IPs and done.  Used the SFP+ for a backbone to the server which everything talks to and no matter how many clients, cameras etc are writing / reading from the server it never slows down the network.

Overall very happy with the unit but without B&Hs no hassle returns it would have cost a lot to send back to Ubiquiti as they wanted me to pay for shipping back and forth from them...Which would have made this review a lot different tone.

[16 lb] You won't beat the performance and reliability of this switch at the price point. I have no concerns and would highly recommend. I'm using it in a home installation with 60 ports installed (so combined with a Ubiquity 24 port) and powering WAP and security devices over Ethernet. Zero issues and superior performance over a previous Netgear smart switch.

[8K] Setup was not difficult, using it in a medium sized business, and the POE feature and fiber ports are welcome additions. The UniFi controller is mature now and combing the switch with other UniFi devices (Access Points in my case) gives a great console view of the network.
