Build and expand your network with the EdgeSwitch fully managed, PoE+ Gigabit switch. Besides delivering robust performance and intelligent switching for growing networks, the EdgeSwitch offers an extensive suite of advanced Layer-2 switching features and protocols. It also supports Layer-3 routing capability.

The EdgeSwitch offers the forwarding capacity to simultaneously process traffic on all ports at line rate without any packet loss. For its total, non-blocking throughput, this model support up to 70 Gbps. Its switching capacity is 140 Gbps and it supports a 104.16 Mpps forwarding rate.

The EdgeSwitch provides 48 PoE Gigabit Ethernet ports of auto-sensing IEEE 802.3af/at or configurable 24V Passive PoE designed to simplify your infrastructure. By default, the EdgeSwitch automatically detects 802.3af/at devices so they automatically receive PoE. For 24V Passive PoE devices, you can manually enable 24V passive PoE using the EdgeSwitch Configuration Interface.

The EdgeSwitch provides fiber connectivity options for your growing networks. This 48-port model features two SFP ports, two SFP+ ports, and up to 10 Gbps uplinks.

Designed for convenient management, the EdgeSwitch Configuration Interface allows administrators to configure and monitor switch features in a graphical user interface. For advanced users, an industry-standard command-line interface (CLI) is available through telnet and SSH.

The EdgeSwitch uses a sophisticated operating system that provides basic switching features, PoE configuration per port, and a variety of advanced features including: MSTP/RSTP/STP, VLAN, Private VLAN, Voice VLAN, Link Aggregation, DHCP Snooping, IGMP Snooping, TACACS+, RADIUS, 802.1X, MAC Filtering, ACL, DiffServ, CoS, Static Routing, and Policy-Based Routing, a maximum power consumption of 750W, and rackmountable 1U enclosure.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this switch power the ltu rockets?

A: Yes, this switch offers up to 34 watts per port.

Q: 2. Can 2 of these be mounted side by side with the included brackets?

A: No, the included brackets of the Ubiquiti Networks EdgeSwitch 8-Port 150-Watt Managed PoE+ Gigabit Switch with SFP BH #UBES8150W do not allow for side by side mounting.

Q: 3. is the switch configured with a web browser of the controller software?

A: The Switch will try to auto setup its IP via DHCP if that fails it will default to 192.168.1.2. You can use that address to use the interface.

Q: 4. does this switch provide the power over Ethernet to your devices or does it just let it voltage pass through?

A: The switch gives you actual POE on any of the ports. You must enable the POE for the individual ports in the configuration. For instance, I use one port to connect/power a Ubiquiti NanobeamAC and another to connect/power a Ubiquiti Nanostation LOCO M5 (as AP) and the other ports I have disabled POE as they have not POE devices connect. A cool feature is besides the LAN activity led on each port there is a POE indicator LED. Hope that helps.

Q: 5. Does this have to be used for connecting computers to the internet? I want to use it for connecting multiple BMD 4K monitors to 1 computer.

A: the switch is just for Ethernet! So you can use this to connect to the Ethernet ports of the BMD 4k but that will NOT give you any video signal. That is done via the SDI connection. The Ethernet is just for control and monitoring of the monitors. Bottom line You do not use this for video.

Q: 6. Do we need additional power supply to use the switch or will it consume power over LAN (input) using PoE?

A: The main unit needs a power supply. All 5 LAN ports are PoE.

Q: 7. can you configure maximum bandwidth for individual ports?

A: Haven't tried that

Q: 8. Is this item rated for outdoor use?

A: No, this is for indoor use. If you woudl like to use this for outdoor use, you will need to purchase some sort of enclosure for it.

Q: 9. Does this auto sense 48 volt POE devices also?

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks EdgeSwitch ES-48-750W Managed PoE+ Gigabit Switches with SFP BH #UBES48750W has auto-sensing PoE.

Q: 10. Would this be good for gaming on multiple devices, streaming on twitch, and other workloads at the same time? would my ping go up ingame?

A: This device will handle gaming workloads without any issues. It is a business class device designed for higher throughput.

[17.2 lb] I started using the Ubiquiti products this year and glad I made the switch. This switch works great I use it to power a UBNT access point. The interface is easy to setup.

[Yes] Works as expected, Ubiquiti products have been extremely reliable for me since I discovered them about a year ago. The EdgeSwitch 48 is no exception, it's easy to setup and configure to your needs. The fans are far from silent, so beware of that if you don't have a dedicated space for it.

[8K] You won't beat the performance and reliability of this switch at the price point. I have no concerns and would highly recommend. I'm using it in a home installation with 60 ports installed (so combined with a Ubiquity 24 port) and powering WAP and security devices over Ethernet. Zero issues and superior performance over a previous Netgear smart switch.

[17 to 34.2 W] Ive purchased and deployed several of these and love them. Interface is super simple, but highly configurable. Very clean UI. Of course works great with other Ubiquiti items, but just a super little switch.
