[100 Ohms] Easy to set up. Easy to use. The turntable sounds fantastic now. Which is going to cost me money as I'm on a vinyl purchasing kick!

[aptX, aptX LL] This replaced my 18 year old Cambridge Audio pre-amp/amp setup. Spent time debating between pre-amp/amp vs integrated amp and then this vs Marantz PM8006. Finally settled with this due to features and price point.


I use this mainly to listen to Vinyl collection but now also have my old Cambridge Audio CD connected to Optical and love the DAC on this amp. Phono amp is outstanding and sound quality is just amazing. Bluetooth is also helpful for streaming from your smart phone. I have old pioneer Elite Tape deck connected and this has got live back into the old tapes.


Only negative is that this in not Made in UK or Europe but is made in China but build quality is solid.

[23.77 lb] I bought this to amplify sound from my outdoor TV. Hooked to Yamaha outdoor speakers, it provides a good quality sound.
Easy to install and set up.

[5.0 LE] I had been testing in my 2-channel system Yamaha and Denon integrated amps, as well as an older Marantz AV receiver I had on hand, and was not fully satisfied with the music reproduction playing a variety of genres on CD from classical to jazz to folk to pop/rock. After researching and reading for many hours I decided to try the Audiolab 6000A and was delighted to see B&H's excellent sale price on the black model. The amp has very nice build quality, and more importantly to me it has elevated my Q Acoustics 3050 towers to another level of sound quality. Great soundstage, neutral tonality top to bottom, instruments sound real with the space and ambience of the recording reproduced, cymbals are delicate and detailed, bass notes are powerful when called upon and always under control, the midrange is very pure with no hint of coloration. I feel like the Audiolab has provided a taste of the high end for a budget price.

[ARC] Very nicely made, well conceived. Enough power and great sound. Really happy with my purchase, expect for use for a long time.

[aptX, aptX LL] A week into this amplifier and I’m pleased with its performance
and value.  The A-S301 replaces a Denon PMA-600NE which I had -- briefly.  The main problem with the Denon was the dodgy motorized volume control.  Like the motorized volume control on the A-S301,
it rotates clockwise from about 7:00 to 5:00 either by hand or by using the remote.  The problems with the Denon were (1) it had almost no volume between 7:00 and about 8:30, and then the volume came on with a rush and (2) the steps using the remote were too coarse (an online review of a Marantz amplifier – same parent company – noted the same things).  I was curious how the Yamaha volume control would work, but I need not have worried.  I stuck a little orange dot on the volume knob and it was easy to tell that both the knob movement and the volume levels were aligned, and that the amplifier was capable of fine adjustment manually or with the remote. 


The other nice feature about the A-S301 (and its siblings) is the loudness control.  I haven’t needed it much for contemporary CDs or FLAC files, but recently I got some FLACs and CDs of re-mastered Arturo Toscanini/NBC Symphony recordings from the early 1950s. These are mono, but adjusting both the volume and loudness greatly improved the listening experience.  Kudos to Yamaha for that feature at this price point. 

I’m using a pair of Polk ES15 speakers, which is a combination

that several online reviews recommend.  I also have a Polk XT10 down-firing subwoofer. My living room is not large, and the Yamaha/Polk setup makes for a very good listening experience. 


The only thing I miss from the Denon is the built-in Bluetooth for listening.  I like to play music from the speakers, and also use a pair of on-ear headphones around inside the house.  I still haven’t found a good solution for that, but it certainly wasn’t a deal breaker.

Taking all into consideration, and as others have noted, the A-S301 punches way above its weight.

[ARC] I wasn't sure I liked it at first, it didn't sound like the amp I was replacing, but the more I listen to it, the more i realize it sounds better, the differences are subtle, but i like it more and more

[ARC] Old school integrated amp with digital inputs. That's a good thing. It gives me a feeling of quiet confidence.




It replaced an old Onkyo receiver that died. I bought an internet radio, so I didn't need a receiver. I use it in my bedroom stereo, so I don't need massive power; I doubt that I'll ever strain the 60 WPC power rating.




I'm not an audiophile, and it sounds just fine to me. I wish I could offer glowing flowery reviews, but this thing just sits there and works just fine. It just sort of exudes understated quality and, hopefully, reliability. I've only had it for about three weeks, but so far I'm more than satisfied.
