  • The JUNO-106, released in 1984, was a standard-setting analog polyphonic synthesizer. Following the JUNO-6 and JUNO-60, it was the third and most advanced model in the affordable JUNO series, and the first to incorporate the new MIDI standard. The 106 built on the innovations introduced with its predecessors, offering easy programmability, digitally controlled oscillators, expanded patch memory, a fat-sounding stereo chorus effect, and more.

  • With its simple synthesis architecture and distinctive sound, the JUNO-106 quickly became a staple of early '80s production. In the years since, up-and-coming producers and seasoned veterans alike have become hip to the storied JUNO-106. This classic synth brings new life to any composition, and many top contemporary artists put it high on their list of must-haves.

Roland Cloud is the only authentic software resource for the true JUNO-106 sound. While the original hardware version is scarce, expensive, and in need of frequent tune-ups, Roland's plug-in is always ready to play, whenever you need it. There are some great feature enhancements too, which are only available in the virtual instrument:

  • Available polyphony increased to eight (or keep it old school and limit it to six or less)
  • Condition knob to adjust the age characteristics of the virtual hardware
  • Two fully adjustable envelopes
  • Famous JUNO chorus, modern reverb, and tempo-syncing delay
  • Onboard tempo-syncing arpeggiator
  • All-new modern presets in addition to classic and original factory tones
  • Multiple skins including classic and SYSTEM-8 layouts in light and dark
  • PLUG-OUT compatibility with the SYSTEM-8 hardware synth
  • Premapped for one-to-one control from the SYSTEM-8, JU-06, and JU-06A hardware

  • The JUNO-106 also supports Roland's PLUG-OUT format for extended operation with Roland’s SYSTEM-8 hardware synth. Parameters are automatically mapped to the SYSTEM-8’s controls, giving you a full-featured JUNO-106 you can take to the stage without a computer.
  • It's also possible to use the SYSTEM-8 or a Roland Boutique JU-06/JU-06A for one-to-one, hands-on control of the JUNO-106 software plug-in.

  • The Lifetime Key system provides an evolving service that includes free lifetime updates, cloud-based mobility with installation for up to five devices, plus access to current Test Drive promotions of instruments and patch collections.
  • A Lifetime Key is a cloud-based authorization for Roland Cloud instruments. Roland Cloud Membership and Lifetime Keys are managed through an online ID called a Roland Account.
  • A free Roland Account is required to access Roland Cloud Manager and will periodically connect to the internet to authorize your Membership and/or Lifetime Keys.
  • Lifetime Key is active as long as your Roland account is active—even if you’re not a paying member.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi, What's the capacity of the backpack in liters?

A: The Roland CB-RU10 Utility Backpack has multiple storage compartments that vary in size. The manufacturer only provides external dimensions for the bag which are 21.2 x 13.1 x 9.2" (538 x 333 x 234 mm). The storage capacity is not provided in liters. The bag is intended for carrying one or more Roland electronic instruments, such as the TR-8S Rhythm Performer, MC-707 Groovebox, SP-404MKII, and others, along with essential performance accessories such as a laptop or tablet, microphones, cables, footswitches, headphones, etc.

Q: 2. Is everything included to use this with my Ipad and three iphone 11's and getting sound to the ipad from my Rode wire II mic?

A: You will need a fast wireless AC or WiFi 6 router which is recommended. Also, you would need to download the following Roland Aerocaster apps for your phones, and iPads. Apps: https://bit.ly/3SItsNd

Q: 3. Is an AC adapter included?

A: The Sangean SG-106 Compact AM/FM Digital Radio does not come with a AC adapter.

Q: 4. I'm in CANADA Toronto. Do you have a store?

A: Hello there, we do have a store, located in New York City. We also ship all around the world and would be happy to assist you with questions about this product or any others you may be interested in. You could give B&H a call at 1-800.606.6969. Thank you for your interest!

Q: 5. Please clarify. Does that mean it ONLY connects to phones or can it connect to other types of cameras that are NOT phones but still have wireless capability?

A: The manufacturer has defined support for only iOS and Android capable devices, which is primarily targeted at smartphones and/or tablets.

Q: 6. Can the device work on 220V?

A: Yes !

Q: 7. Anyone know what a orange square on the monitor means?? It's in the upper right corner of one of the 4 HDMI preview screens.

A: The lit red means final output video. Lit green means preset video (the video to be output next).

Q: 8. Has anyone used the Chroma Key features and does it work well? Does anyone have experience to know how it might compare to the Blackmagic ATEM Switcher Chroma Key features?

A: Yes, I have used the chroma key. And it works better than I thought it would. The only difference in this versus BM atem is the user interface. For the roland you just turn on the effect and move the dial till it keys out what you need.

Q: 9. Is there any program out? Connecting program out to external monitor/tv?

A: The, Roland AeroCaster Livestreaming System does not offer HDMI output. The IPad that you use to control the switcher is your preview display and controller for the switcher.

Q: 10. Would there be any problem connecting HD cameras via HDMI cables of 150+ feet? Some switchers I've researched have problems with this.

A: Actually, it is not the switcher but the signal that cannot handle long cable runs since HDMI becomes too weak after 30-50' or so. Booster cable can get this up to 100' but for longer runs we suggest signal conversion to SDI or Cat5/6 cabling. Please email us so that we can further assist you. provideo at bhphoto dot com.

[4 GB] If you love the Juno series, this has all of them and yes it sounds just like the old ones. Its buit tough, the action is great. Building your own sounds is very adictive, easy and once get used to the layout and menus its easy. I love all the customisable buttons and sliders on the left. The knobs and sliders are silky smooth and tough. The sounds are very lush and full, the effects are good, but not perfect, the reverb is basic, but its smooth. The delay is very nice and so is the drive. It was easy to update the firmware all you need is a thumb drive. If you want that Juno sound and dont want to risk getting an original, this will do nicely.

[Download] This Roland AX-Edge package is a great deal. I am super impressed with the instrument and even more impressed with the speed of shipping and the quality of customer service that I received. I had a minor connectivity issue with the product and b&h customer service were able to help resolve it.

[4 GB] I'm new to the world of synthesizers. I decided to start my journey with the SH-01A because of its compact form factor and straight forward design. I paired it with the Roland K-25m keyboard, which was really easy to setup.

I also love that this synth is usb powered and can run off 4 AA batteries. It offers more than enough features to be enthralled with the vast array of audio possibilities.

[100 MB ] I use the JD-Xi to compose music rather than play live or jam. Although all the demo patches are of the EDM genre, the device is capable of so much more. It is wonderful for generating ideas quickly using the loop sequencer. The JD-Xi is not hard to learn, even though a fair number of functions require some shallow menu-diving (all parameters are immediately below the menu sections). Mercifully, each menu section remembers the last parameter you tweaked and brings it up first, which is a nice touch. Most importantly, there is a stunning variety of current and retro electronic sounds in this box. The drums are samples, but you have so much control over each drum sound when creating a kit that you'll be blown away. The other three parts (it's 4 part multitimbral) are true synthesizer engines, one analog (simple but nice), and two digital (very, very deep). Listen to some of the demos online to see if the sounds are in your wheelhouse. My main complaint is the lack of swing quantization (AKA, shuffle or groove) in the built-in sequencer. Most beats I naturally play have swing to them, and they don't sound right after quantization. There is no option to turn off quantization. My favorite beats so far have been made by setting the steps-per-bar to 12 (triplets). This can give beats a swing-like feel. Of course, if you use an external sequencer (the JD-Xi makes a great 4-part sound module), you can swing all you want. This is my first Roland instrument, and I have to say, I think the JD-Xi is destined to become a classic (like my MicroKorg). If you do your research and like what you see in the demos, I think you'll be very happy with it.

[Standard] I grew up on the old Roland Junos, and was especially fond of my Juno 60. The sounds from that, the Juno 106 and Jupiter 8 were in a class by themselves. The System-8 brings all of that back. The sounds are there, as is the layout -- with all the controls out and ready to be tinkered with -- making it a great blast from the past. Having both a Juno 106 and Jupiter 8 all in one, along with the System 8 synth, is pretty sweet. I was skeptical of a digital take on analog sounds, but Roland's ACB technology delivers. It too, is in its own class.

[4 GB] I have been using Roland synthesizer since the 1980s. I am a hard to convince consumer when it comes to analog modeling and this one is probably some of the best I've heard from Roland. The ability to stack all of your different synthesizer models on top of one another is amazing. it's very convincing and is just gorgeous sounding. The keyboard feels good and the flow is incredible with all of the polyphony it sounds huge!

[Synthesizer] This is a fantastic sounding single oscillator synth. It offers something unique compared to BOTH hardware & digital synths. It’s almost like it should be mandatory in everyone’s synth kit.
