Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What are the dimensions of the platform?

A: The dimensions of the Dana Dolly Portable Dolly System with Universal Track Ends platform are 14 x 10" (35.6 x 25.4 cm).

Q: 2. Can I put a jib on this dolly system? Like a Kessler Crane Pocket Jib PRO?

A: There are options available for you to mount a small jib to the Dana dolly but you're going to run into some obstacles. The Dana dolly will support 100 pounds so you'll have to make sure your overall weight doesn't exceed that. Also, balance will be an issue so you'll have to make sure you have a person available to standby and support the rig. Personally, there are better options. But if you want to attach a small jib to the Dana dolly you can get a half-ball adapter to fit any 3/8 tripod or jib head to the dolly. I recommend Manfrotto's half-ball adapter with the short handle.

Q: 3. Does this come with a mounting accessory to be able to attach a tripod/fluid Benro Head?

A: The Dana Dolly Portable Dolly System Rental Kit with Universal Track Ends comes with bowl adapters for the following size tripod head bowls: 75mm, 100mm, 150mm. If your tripod head has a bowl with one of these sizes, it should mount appropriately. Otherwise, you may need a bowl for your head, such as the Benro 75mm Half Ball Adapter BH #BEBL75S https://bhpho.to/3JHWjMV

Q: 4. What would be a good hard case for this kit?

A: The Pelican 1560 Case with Foam Set (Black), B&H # PE1560FB would be a very viable hard case option for use with the Dana Dolly Portable Dolly System with Universal Track Ends.

Q: 5. I want to mount it to two regular Matthews C-stands. Do I need an adapter?

A: The Dana Dolly Portable Dolly System with Universal Track Ends (B&H# DADDUK1) comes with two Universal Track Ends and a Center Support which may be installed on 5/8" male spigots (A.K.A. baby pins) or into 1 1/8" receivers (A.K.A. junior receivers), both being common connectors on the tops of many light stands. For example, the Matthews Century C Stand with Mini Base, Black - 5.25' (1.6m) (B&H# MALSC20MBB) or Matthews Mini Slider Stand (38") (B&H# MALSMS) may be used for that purpose. Please keep the weight limits of any stand used in mind, and use a sandbag with the stand whenever appropriate.

Q: 6. Is it worth paying extra for the universal track ends instead of the original ?

A: As a long time movie professional, I can tell you Murphy's law applies to what happens on set. If you are in a controlled set up and you know for a fact what size of speed rail you always will be using, do save your money and get the original style. However, if you are working freelance, and someone else will be supplying the speed rail, save your self the grief of failure on set because the ends you have don't fit and you can't shoot. Get the universal. They are worth the piece of mind in that situation.

Q: 7. What track do I need to go with this, and how does the track attach to stands?

A: This system uses piping with a outside diameter between 1.5 to 1.9 . The kit includes the track ends and middle support to connect the system to stands like B&H # MASSLIDER. For assistance locating the proper track for this system feel free to email us at ask@bandh.com.https://bhpho.to/2IXDfai

Q: 8. what's the difference between speed rail and o.d. pipes?

A: O.D. stands for outside diameter. It is a spec for the kinds of pipes it is compatible with. This works with 1.5 to 1.9" O.D. Pipe.

Q: 9. What is the width of the track from the center of each pole support?

A: You can order the pipe in any length you want...after 7' you will need support...go to the Dana dolly site they provide you supplier info.

Q: 10. will the middle support support curved track?

A: It will support any standard 1.5 speed rail as long as the rails are no further than the standard 12 apart center to center. If you had speed rail custom shaped to be perfectly even curves on each rail across a 10' span, the center support would have no problem ensuring it holds as long as it is rigged properly.

[16.145 lb] When will I receive the item?

[Black] Dana Dollies are workhorses of the film industry. I've used the 1.25 model quite a bit, but always wanted extra stability offered when using wider diameter speed rail. I'm very please with the refinements made to the slider design. If using a 100mm bowl tripod, I highly recommend also getting the upgraded Dana Dolly 100mm Adapter for Sachtler as it screws into the slider and negates the need to use the awkward and clumsy ring below the slider when mounting the tie-down to the head. Don't worry if you don't have a Sachtler head, it'll still work with any 100mm bowl head.

[16.145 lb] All you need,

The Dolly system is very well-built and ready for professional use.

The included 8-feet of rails are rigid and have no flex with my camera rig (Canon c200b). Even though the unit comes with legs I purchased two

Impact Turtle Base C-Stand (Chrome-plated, 5.9') cstands to use as mounts. Very happy with the purchase!!

[16.145 lb] Works as advertised. Easy to setup and is buttery smooth. Seems very well built and the soft wheels keep transition areas from ever being an issue. Love it.

[Aluminum] I like real well built sturdy gear like this., when you have big cameras with big lenses, you can't afford to mess around with cheaply made equipment.

[Black] I love it, well made, perfect for small to medium productions

[16.145 lb] It is rather sturdy. It is portable, but heavier and bulkier than it looks. Certainly makes sense for larger cameras and rigs. Simple. Perfect. There is not much that can be done to improve it. It is slightly wobbly when using a standard 5/8 inch stud used on most light stands, but I suspect it would be more rigid in a 1 1/8 receiver.

[Aluminum] Great build quality, very sturdy, and smooth. I would recommend Proaim products to anyone.

[Aluminum] After renting a variety of dollies over the years, I decided it was time to pull the trigger and own one. I went with the Dana Dolly since it was the smoothest and easiest to operate of all of them. My only regret is not initially getting the rental kit which includes the hard case. Transporting it without is definitely awkward to do since you have so many parts scattered and you want to protect the wheels.

Could not recommend this dolly system enough.

[Aluminum] We've been very pleased with this system. It's easy to set up, and the dolly rolls very smoothly. Considering what some systems cost, this is a great way to add movement to your shots at an affordable price.
