It operates at a 2.4GHz frequency and has a range of up to 66', line of sight. It allows you to switch between different adjustment options, including brightness, color temperature, and hue & saturation, by pressing the turntable and turning the dial clockwise or counterclockwise. The remote control can also switch various lamps on or off by long-pressing the turntable.

The Remote Dimming Controller runs on an included CR2450 lithium battery.

However, do note the lights are controlled line-of-sight via infrared optical output, so use in bright sunlight can reduce the maximum operating range. The Nikon WR-R11a Remote Controller would allow you to control up to 18 Nikon SB-5000 speedlights on three (3) channels. When communicating with off-camera speedlights, you have a range of 98 feet. As it uses radio transmission, you do not have issues with line-of-sight communication.
