  • Produced between 1981 and 1984, the JUPITER-8 was the pinnacle of Roland synthesizer engineering. Master-crafted with a now-iconic design, the eight-voice polyphonic synthesizer boasted deep programmability and a sweeping dynamic range.
  • The JUPITER-8 was a must-have for professional synth players and well-equipped studios throughout the ‘80s. Beloved for its robust analog sound and hands-on programmability, it’s famous for its unmistakably lush pads and cosmic leads.

The JUPITER-8 Software Synthesizer is a detailed recreation of the original, capable of the same rich pads, tectonic basses, and evocative leads as its hardware counterpart. Featuring eight-voice polyphony, 16 individual analog oscillators, and two- and four-pole resonant filters, the virtual JUPITER-8 is a wildly customizable composition tool. From cross modulation to oscillator sync, the synth’s expansive effects parameters reward deep exploration. Newly added modern features include:

  • Onboard reverb and tempo-syncing delay
  • Tempo-syncing LFO that locks to your project
  • Extended oscillator range
  • Condition knob adjusts the sound of the JUPITER-8—clean and pristine to warm and broken in
  • PLUG-OUT compatibility with the SYSTEM-8 hardware synth
  • Premapped for one-to-one control from the SYSTEM-8 or JP-08 hardware

  • The JUPITER-8 also supports Roland's PLUG-OUT format for extended operation with Roland’s SYSTEM-8 hardware synth. Parameters are automatically mapped to the SYSTEM-8’s controls, giving you a full-featured JUPITER-8 you can take to the stage without a computer.
  • It's also possible to use the SYSTEM-8 or a Roland Boutique JP-08 for one-to-one, hands-on control of the JUPITER-8 software plug-in.

  • The Lifetime Key system provides an evolving service that includes free lifetime updates, cloud-based mobility with installation for up to five devices, plus access to current Test Drive promotions of instruments and patch collections.
  • A Lifetime Key is a cloud-based authorization for Roland Cloud instruments. Roland Cloud Membership and Lifetime Keys are managed through an online ID called a Roland Account.
  • A free Roland Account is required to access Roland Cloud Manager and will periodically connect to the internet to authorize your Membership and/or Lifetime Keys.
  • Lifetime Key is active as long as your Roland account is active—even if you’re not a paying member.

Q: 1. Can I use Canon XA10 cameras that only record at 1080 i/p 30 fps with this mixer?

A: You need to convert the signal from the camera. You can use this converter. It take the camera's HDMI signal and turns it into and 59.94 for the mixer. Datavideo DAC-9P HDMI to HD/SD-SDI 1080p/60 Converter B&H # DADAC9P.

Q: 2. What is the best way to color grade the video signals coming? If I have a C100 coming in, am I able to make any adjustments to the color? Assuming need another piece of gear to do this properly but not sure what I need.

A: When using a camera like the C100, which has an HDMI output, and a more basic switcher like the Roland V-1HD there really is not an additional piece of gear that is going to allow you to color grade the camera. However you can always adjust the settings in the camera itself. There are different picture profiles you can adjust and you can even dial in the exact white balance you desire.

Q: 3. Regarding the output of the light, how bright is it at its highest setting? For example, it is comparable to a 500w light, 650w, 1000w, etc. in terms of how bright it can get

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer only offers a lumens rating of 3350 when set to daylight.

Q: 4. Please clarify. Does that mean it ONLY connects to phones or can it connect to other types of cameras that are NOT phones but still have wireless capability?

A: The manufacturer has defined support for only iOS and Android capable devices, which is primarily targeted at smartphones and/or tablets.

Q: 5. One of our camera feeds also sends the audio feed from our mixer. Will this device let me constantly use the audio from camera 1 even if I switch to camera 2?

A: Yes, that is possible. You are able to select the audio you want to be live independent of which camera input is live.

Q: 6. Can this be used with a Siri 50mm T2.9 lens

A: No, the Sirui EF Mount Change to L Mount Adapter cannot work with the Sirui 50mm T2.9 Full Frame 1.6x Anamorphic Lens because there is no EF mount version.

Q: 7. Will this video switcher work with a Sony HDV Handycam HDR-FX100?

A: If the HDR-FX100 can output a live camera signal through its HDMI socket, I don't see any reason why it would not make a direct connection with the HDMI input of the Roland V-H1D and be a switched-able input. This Roland switcher is great and easy to operate.Enjoy.

Q: 8. Does this cover full frame?

A: Yes, the Sirui Jupiter PL-E Adapter for PL Mount Lenses will support full frame lenses.

Q: 9. Please clarify. Does this mean it only connects phones? Can it connect to other types of cameras that have wifi capability?

A: No, At this time the Roland AeroCaster Livestreaming System will only support phones/tablets as cameras. Here is more info from Roland - Connect your iPad to an HDMI input and switch wireless camera feeds from iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, as well as screen shares from computers and mobile devices. Use images from up to four wireless devices simultaneously, plus the camera on the host iPad.

Q: 10. I don't see any mention of being able to record the event on the app. If not, it sounds like there's no way of recording it. Correct?

A: The Roland AeroCaster Livestreaming System and its app do not record.

[4 GB] This Roland AX-Edge package is a great deal. I am super impressed with the instrument and even more impressed with the speed of shipping and the quality of customer service that I received. I had a minor connectivity issue with the product and b&h customer service were able to help resolve it.

[4 GB] I grew up on the old Roland Junos, and was especially fond of my Juno 60. The sounds from that, the Juno 106 and Jupiter 8 were in a class by themselves. The System-8 brings all of that back. The sounds are there, as is the layout -- with all the controls out and ready to be tinkered with -- making it a great blast from the past. Having both a Juno 106 and Jupiter 8 all in one, along with the System 8 synth, is pretty sweet. I was skeptical of a digital take on analog sounds, but Roland's ACB technology delivers. It too, is in its own class.

[Synthesizer] If you love the Juno series, this has all of them and yes it sounds just like the old ones. Its buit tough, the action is great. Building your own sounds is very adictive, easy and once get used to the layout and menus its easy. I love all the customisable buttons and sliders on the left. The knobs and sliders are silky smooth and tough. The sounds are very lush and full, the effects are good, but not perfect, the reverb is basic, but its smooth. The delay is very nice and so is the drive. It was easy to update the firmware all you need is a thumb drive. If you want that Juno sound and dont want to risk getting an original, this will do nicely.

[4 GB] I use the JD-Xi to compose music rather than play live or jam. Although all the demo patches are of the EDM genre, the device is capable of so much more. It is wonderful for generating ideas quickly using the loop sequencer. The JD-Xi is not hard to learn, even though a fair number of functions require some shallow menu-diving (all parameters are immediately below the menu sections). Mercifully, each menu section remembers the last parameter you tweaked and brings it up first, which is a nice touch. Most importantly, there is a stunning variety of current and retro electronic sounds in this box. The drums are samples, but you have so much control over each drum sound when creating a kit that you'll be blown away. The other three parts (it's 4 part multitimbral) are true synthesizer engines, one analog (simple but nice), and two digital (very, very deep). Listen to some of the demos online to see if the sounds are in your wheelhouse. My main complaint is the lack of swing quantization (AKA, shuffle or groove) in the built-in sequencer. Most beats I naturally play have swing to them, and they don't sound right after quantization. There is no option to turn off quantization. My favorite beats so far have been made by setting the steps-per-bar to 12 (triplets). This can give beats a swing-like feel. Of course, if you use an external sequencer (the JD-Xi makes a great 4-part sound module), you can swing all you want. This is my first Roland instrument, and I have to say, I think the JD-Xi is destined to become a classic (like my MicroKorg). If you do your research and like what you see in the demos, I think you'll be very happy with it.

[1280 x 800] I have been using Roland synthesizer since the 1980s. I am a hard to convince consumer when it comes to analog modeling and this one is probably some of the best I've heard from Roland. The ability to stack all of your different synthesizer models on top of one another is amazing. it's very convincing and is just gorgeous sounding. The keyboard feels good and the flow is incredible with all of the polyphony it sounds huge!
