[49 mm] Works exceptionally well for a variable ND. It's pricey, but if you are using a quality lens, then it doesn't make sense to use anything of lesser quality.

[Glass] Being able to blur the motion of running water, ocean pictures in bright light or even the movement of clouds over an extended period all in bright daylight provides a new world of photographic and creative opporunity. The Syrp variable ND is a great value offering a full range from 1 to 8+ stops of light. Using Live View it is possible to compose the scene with the ND filter on and adding / substracting levels of ND filtration is simple. Having a single filter compared to adding cokin or lee filter into a holder avoids vigneting, and is faster.

[49 mm] I love the attention to detail in the design and packaging. I did run into a slight vignetting at 16 mm in some extremely harsh lighting but I would still buy again and again.

[49 mm] I've used this on some older Nikkor Primes (with extra step up rings) as well as a Canon Zoom I use for photography and videography and it is a saviour outdoors or where you want to keep shallow focus in bright lighting conditions. Also it beats the dailights out of switching out individual NDs in a mattebox, in my opinion anyways. I don't find that it impacts the image quality in any significant way and having the low end of it at 1 stop means that it basically just skips from one of my lenses to the other constantly unless I'm shooting nights. (The knurled ring makes it easy to remove and tighten.) The two included step-up rings are pretty well made aluminum, though I prefer the Sensei Pro rings as they have two minor grips to aid in tightening or removal.

[0.155 lb] this is by far the best variable nd filter in this price range. if you're will to spend the money than go with a schneider. this is better than hoya, tiffen, and even b+w which is slightly more expensive. i use it for video and there's no noticeable color shift. the range is from 1 to about 7 stops so you never have to take it off when going from outside to inside. the others start at 1.5 or 2 stops. the included step-up rings are nice. they're not brass but they work. and everything fits inside the leather pouch. i would recommend buying a filter wrench though.

[49 mm] This is better than I thought it would be. I've owned a Heliopan Variable ND and this one is sharper and has less of a color cast. The Syrp is really a 1-8 stop filter not a 1-8.5 since you get some artifacts at 8.5.

[0.155 lb] I gave it five stars for build, value and performance within its capabilities. It did not work well with my mirror less Zeiss 12mm. But was fine with 18mm and greater. You must stay a little before the end indication to avoid the polarized X. The step down rings were well made just the sizes I needed.

[49 mm] I have taken a few shoots outside with this product and so far I truly love it. The only bad thing I can really say about it is that you must get the threads carefully aligned before screwing it on and with a gloved hand that's a little challenging. I don't see any image softening at all & I've used it on 2 lenses so far: the 50mm 1.4 G & the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8LD Xi which I just bought used. I bought this for taking pictures of black cows & horses, as well as in situations during the middle of the day under the trees with the high sun at the subject's back. I'm attaching two images, the first with the 50mm & the 2nd with the zoom. I believe I achieved what I was after. Please note the images are unedited.

[Glass] Syrp seems to always have well made stuff and this is no exception. It's build quality is excellent and the images are clear and sharp. You have a good range before you start to notice the usual variable ND x shape.
