Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do they fit completely over the ear so nothing is touching any part of the ear?

A: Hi, Greg! Depends on the size of your ears. ~Ralph

Q: 2. What is the brand of the leather and deep earpads that are listed with the Sony mdr 7506 ?

A: The sheepskin ear pads are made by Auray.

Q: 3. Are the earpads leather?

A: The previous ten or so answers were perhaps before a clear leather option was available. There is a button for that option now (which adds to the price, but is probably worth it). The description when choosing the leather cups option reads: '...genuine sheepskin leather earpads for improved comfort in long sessions.'

Q: 4. Do this phones work for listening televisions ???

A: Yes. Provided the TV has a headphone connector jack (3.5mm) these headphones may be plugged in. Below will allow an extension of either 10 feet or 25 feet: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/392841-REG/Rode_VC1_Stereo_Mini_Male_to.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/160694-REG/Hosa_Technology_MHE_125_Stereo_Mini_Male_to.html The Sony MDR 7506 headphones are excellent quality; I own these fo 15 years and are great sounding and comfortable!

Q: 5. Does the base "headphones" selection come with a soft carrying pouch/bag?

A: Yes, this comes wirh a vinyl pouch.

Q: 6. I saw some Sony headphones advertised as Hi-Res audio capable. Are these headphones capable of that?

A: In a word, no. They are not rated to exceed 20kHz in their upper frequency response. That doesn't mean they can't reproduce these frequencies in some capacity, it means they are not flat (however that is being measured) past 20kHz. In fact, these headphones have a significant drop off past 15Khz, but that does not equate to a more muffled or low-fi type of sound. You'd have to hear the difference between these and something like a Beyerdynamic DT880 to know what I mean. There is no loss of fidelity, but they are not rated up to 25 or 30kHz, which I would consider the minimum to be Hi-Res capable.I'm answering this in case it helps someone else out.

Q: 7. Can these be worn comfortably for a long period time when wearing glasses? My other Sony headphones press on the arms of my glasses resulting in an eventual headache.

A: Absolutely you can wear glasses comfortably with these headphones. I wear wire rim glasses and have used the Sony MDR-7506 phones for many hours over many, many years.

Q: 8. It works with Sony NW-A105 Walkman Digital Audio Player ??

A: Yes these will work with any device with a headphone output.

Q: 9. Where are these headphones made. China or Taiwan?

A: The pair I bought were made in Thailand. They are very good headphones, though. I use them for monitoring in my small studio when doing vocals. I have done rough mixdown late at night as well, and find the results pretty good the next morning.

Q: 10. Does this fit on head with hat size of 6 5/8"?

A: Yes, the Sony MDR-7506 Headphones will fit on a head with a hat size of 6-5/8".

[Yes] Px7 S2e combine a great sound with decent noise cancelation and other features. Unlike rivals, I also preferred physical button controls giving the experience a more analog feel (call me old fashioned :)). Furthermore, B&H had a great promotion for these headphones in blue that just helped me make my decision!

[9.7 x 8.7 x 3"] I am a longstanding Bluetooth user with in-ear headphones. I first used the various Shure devices with Bluetooth adapters, then the Shure Bluetooth adapter and finally the TW1. this is just information as a foundation to my review of the PI7. Bowers and Wilkins has been on my radar for some time as I also own the PX. Finally, I pulled the trigger on the PI7. There were on sale for $298
The sound is far superior to the Shure TW1 (with SE425). this is my comparison as the Shure devices combined were $189 +$299. The Shure TW2 with SE215 is now about $239 but the sound quality is not as good as the PI7. Yes, I have the SE215 as well.
The PI7 has better noise isolation. active canceling. There is no leakage. The room just disappears. The sound is three dimensional in my head. Listening to Ray of Light (Madonna) gives a good range of music as that song has so much production, one can hear it all.
I was debating whether or not to hold out for the next version as the battery power might be better but bought it anyway.
Not sure if I would have bought them for $399, but for $298, yes.
Also note the case acts as a Bluetooth transmitter. The volume needs to be pushed up a bit, but it still transmits. Good for flights. I already used one of these, but the combination means one less thing to carry.

[2 Hours] I've owned many types of headphones over the years. Wired as well as wireless. Frankly speaking you get what you pay for, though until now I would be reluctant to say that about wireless/Bluetooth headphones.

If your value the quality of sound over the bells and whistles of other brands then the PI7's will make you smile. It did me!

Now, having said that, and as others have said, ANC, and battery life are more than adequate, but not equal to some other brands. The iPhone app. isn't going to blow you away as it has few tweaks.

But I still insist the sound quality out of these wireless, In-Ear headphones are the very best I've heard. And that is coming from someone that usually uses a desktop amplifier and DAC. No, it doesn't beat them, BT technology is not there yet.

But when I go mobile I don't leave the house without the PI7. They even come in handy when I need to wander around the house, or relax on the deck, or cook in the kitchen.

If you can afford the price, they are well worth the price!
