Electro-harmonix Lizard Queen Octave Fuzz Pedal

Electro-harmonix Lizard Queen Octave Fuzz Pedal
  • Product Code: eq171329
  • Availability: In Stock

$297.00 $362.34

Co-designed by Josh Scott of JHS Pedals and graphic designer Daniel Danger as an homage to the '70s heyday of Electro-Harmonix, the Lizard Queen Octave Fuzz is a nano-sized, fixed-gain distortion pedal with a unique, analog octave-up circuit that produces a fuzz sound unlike any other. With simple yet powerful controls, you can adjust the overall output volume, increase the octave effect from subtle to chaotic, and use the balance knob to set the tone for everything from smooth to raspy and biting.

The single, metal footswitch engages or disengages true bypass, with a simple LED providing indication of effect status. The Lizard Queen can be powered either by an optional 9 VDC power adapter (not included) or with the included 9V battery.

[Analog] This is the best delay / slap-back echo / mod machine I've ever heard. There are versatile sounds for every need, with responsive controls to dial in the perfect effect. Plus, the secret secondary controls make this even more customizable. The looper is lots of fun, though might be a little difficult to pull off live onstage. Basically, if you're looking for a versatile delay, with some added modular swirly/shimmery sounds and a looper thrown in for good measure, stop reading this and buy this pedal. Just be prepared to sit in front your amp and enjoy exploring the sounds this pedal provides, for hours! Highly recommended!

[5 mA] For the price, it is a basic EQ that I bought last minute to use in line for a mono feed to a series of speakers in a loud gym space production. I was short for equipment in this production that involved multiple spaces for production. This EQ was only used for EQ on 7 wirelss LAVs in this loud boomy room. I was able to cut all the hot frequencies with 4 very cheap low quality self powered speakers (all 300-500w). For its price range, it is basic and simple and did the job. XLR in/out was a must.

[Analog] This Graphic Equalizer works great, easy to set up and has intuitive controls. This unit replaced another brand that had failed. The best part is that ART makes great equipment that is 1/3 to 1/2 less than other brands with the same features. This is the second ART 351 that I have used and would recommend this unit without reservations. This unit is installed in a medium-size church to control feedback on the public address system.

[Metal] The Electro Harmonix Platform Compressor is a fantastic stereo compressor pedal that works quite well. It runs on a standard 9-volt pedal power supply that it comes with. I used three of them for a live techno set I was doing. I had a Roland TR-8, Roland TB-3, and Novation Circuit all synced and running together. I had Platform Compressors on the stereo out of each piece of gear and they worked perfectly. They were very reliable but I did have a user error once which I will mention so you can avoid it. The Swell knob got bumped and my attack times began fading in completely throwing off the timing of the TB-3. I couldn't figure out what happened till after my set. So be careful to not hit this knob mid performance. To remedy this possibility, I used electrical tape to hold my knob settings in place after this incident and never had this issue again. The Platform Compressor is fantastic for the money and for the functionality. Stereo compression has never been more convenient with the Platform Compressor.

[1 Megohm] Yes, this pedal is pretty cool! I particularly like the orchestra and choir voices, though the rest are interesting too. I got it, added it to my pedal board, and tried it out at a gig. Audience members were looking around trying to figure out where all the orchestral sounds were coming from. My bandmates thought it was hilarious that our scrappy garage band suddenly had this new big production sound.

[True Bypass] I got the last one in stock (time to reorder, B&H!) and I can see why... the Mel9 pedal adds a completely new vibe to any electric guitar setup. It's very dynamic and responsive, only slightly losing track with very soft notes. Send the dry out to one amp, and the effect out to another (or the sound board) and your sound palette gets very big very quickly. Like everyone else probably did, I immediately dialed in the flute sound and learned Strawberry Fields Forever, but it doesn't stop there. Strings, cello, orchestra and choir sounds are super-fun and very authentic - even down to the warbly tape sound. One thing I'm considering is putting an EQ pedal on Mel9 as its sounds can be a little harsh in the midrange. Dial that back, add some reverb, set the attack and decay at about 1 o'clock, and you have a string pad like keyboard players have always enjoyed - at a fraction of the cost of MIDI guitar synth. Play around with pickup settings too, as the effect sound definitely responds differently to neck vs. bridge pickups. Playing speed is also a factor... most of the sounds take a little time to bloom, so staccato, rapid picking probably won't let the sounds fully develop. But for adding a huge layer and vintage texture to your sound, the Mel9 is where it's at. I can't wait to try it on bass guitar too. This one will be used a lot.

[Metal] I love this at the end of my pedal chain. Silence....

[True Bypass] Easy to get classic overdrive and muddy modern tones. Somewhat lead tones can be achieved by pushing mids with a tube overdrive pedal or eq. Great pedal overall.
