The Sigma fp Mirrorless Camera 45mm Lens 8K Raw Recordingdelivers high-spec functionality for stills and video in an extremely compact body that weighs under one pound. Driven by a full-frame 24.6MP BSI Bayer CMOS sensor, 14-bit color depth, electronic image stabilization, and Leica's L-mount lens interface, the fp and its fully electronic shutter provide a maximum resolution for raw and JPEG files of 6000 x 4000 and a shooting rate of 18 fps, while its focus system employs contrast detection and a 49-point selection mode for AF measurement distance, as well as face detection, eye detection, and focus peaking. A base sensitivity of ISO 100-25600 can be expanded to ISO 6-102400, and its video recording capabilities allow for UHD 4K recording at up to 30p, while Full HD recording can be captured at up to 120p. For raw video data, 12-bit CinemaDNG internal recording is supported. To help shooters fine tune their video content, Sigma's "Teal and Orange" mode is inspired by the color grading techniques of Hollywood and creates high contrast between orange colors, which are found in human skin tones, and teals (cyan blue), which are their complement. So that users may easily switch between still and video modes, there is a switch on top of the camera.

Also available for video shooters in a "Director's Viewfinder" function, which allows for the simulating of different angles of view and how an image looks in a cinema camera. It supports cameras such as the ARRI ALEXA LF and RED MONSTRO 8K, as well as other commonly-used digital cameras, film cameras, and anamorphic lenses.

Compose and review your shots with a 3.15" 2.1m-dot LCD touchscreen, and media is captured internally to a UHS-II SDXC card slot. Thanks to an effective heat sink and a 42-point seal for dust- and splash-proofing, the fp will function well for long hours of use in a wide variety of environments. If you need to connect to external peripherals, there is a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port and a micro-HDMI port.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How well does the camera accept lens conversions? Are there image issues like fringing, cropping, Softness, incompatibilities, etc with certain lens mounts or converters that youve noticed?

A: We've had no reports of any issues regarding fringing, cropping, softness or any incompatibilities when adapting other brands of lenses to the Sigma fp.

Q: 2. What is the native / base ISO?

A: The native/base ISO sensitivity setting for the Sigma fp Mirrorless Digital Camera is ISO 100. The standard ISO range is from ISO 100-25600, while the Expanded sensitivity options are ISO 6, 12, 25, 50, 51,200, and 102,400.

Q: 3. What is the typical power consumption?

A: The instruction manual for the Sigma fp Mirrorless Digital Camera states you can capture approximately 280 images on the provided Sigma BP-51 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 1200mAh) at 23°C (73°F) on a full battery charge, based on CIPA test standard, and continuous shooting capture time is approximately 70 minutes per full battery charge .

Q: 4. Does the Sigma fp have focusing peaking and/or other manual focus assist tools?

A: Yes. The sigma sp offers focus peaking.

Q: 5. Does this camera use a global shutter or rolling shutter?

Q: 6. When it records externally 4K UHD 10 bit does it use 4:2:2 (or which) color depth?

A: The bit depth when recording internally for UHD 4K or Full HD is 4:2:2 8 bit.

Q: 7. Wondering why you don't list cine lenses for this camera. I'm seeing lots of examples of film/video for this camera, not much as a still camera?

A: The Sigma fp uses the Leica/Sigma/Panasonic L mount lenses, which are mainly autofocus lenses. At the moment, the only cine lens we currently offer with a direct L mount Viltrox S 20mm T2.0 Cine Lens for Panasonic/Leica L-Mount, B&H # VI20MMT20LMT. https://bhpho.to/3kBg75K

Q: 8. What I don't understand is the firmware update from June 2020. It states, "12-bit 4K ProRes RAW video to an Atomos Ninja V external recorder". But Ninja V only does 10-bit right?

A: The Atomos website states that the Ninja V records 12-bit ProRes RAW with supported cameras, and I'm happy to say that the Sigma fp is one of them!

Q: 9. Does Sigma fp have B mode and T mode for long exposure? What is the longest time for long exposure?

A: Shutter Speed Electronic Shutter 1/8000 to 30 Seconds Bulb Mode

Q: 10. What is the bit depth of the MOV files?

[Stills & Video] The size, modular expansion capabilities, and color science were what attracted me to this camera. I have no real need for the raw output, but it's amazing a camera in this price range has it. I especially like the menu system on the fp - it's very quick to find what I want. This isn't my primary system, but the ability to add/remove components let this transform for all types of uses. I've also been pleased with the performance of the i series lenses I've tried. If the next Sigma Foveon camera also uses L mount I could see myself going all-in on Sigma for both stills and video.

[2,100,000 Dot] Yeah I'm a bit of gear-head but this thing is just awesome. I love full frame format and their new L mount line of C lenses is just awesome.

[-5 to +18 EV] Please don't think this is a still camera! It's primarily a cinema camera and while it can take stills, there's no physical shutter. The eshutter will get you into trouble taking stills with high motion. Research before you buy things! For cinema I love it!

[Digital] I have really enjoyed this video camera. I have added a cage with a grip and the ability to capture raw in camera on a monopod is fantastic. I recently purchased the Sigma 24-70, 2.8 with a variable ND and this combo is extremely functional for full-frame 4K video capture. I can also extend the reach by using the APS-C crop on the tele end. The images from this sensor are wonderful.

[Stereo ] Love it! I have been looking for a good cinema camera and this is the one for me. After trying all other flavors of cinema cameras, this is a keeper.
I have adapted all of my vintage glass to this camera and they work great.

[S-TTL] I'm fairly new to videography but this camera is a game changer for me. I love the modular approach to where I can add the things I want, though it can be quirky at times. I love the overall quality of the picture, it's been super fun

[-5 to 18 EV] This is a powerhouse of a camera at a bargain price. The footage from this camera + 45mm lens simply can't be beat. Absolutely love this camera. There is somewhat of a learning curve but taking the time to master the fp is well worth it. Highly recommend.
