Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this lens require the Nikon FTZ Mount Adapter?

A: No, this lens is made for the Nikon Z Mount cameras.

Q: 2. I have an infrared converted Nikon Z6. Will this lens create a central frame hot spot if shot wide open?

A: The Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 Lens has not been tested with an IR converted camera. But it should not be much different than other lenses. Cameras in general converted to IR an have hot spots in the center.

Q: 3. See previous questions. Two different answers from "Staff" on FX or DX lens: on FX camera it stays FX sensor or crops to DX size? The lens description is "FX"

A: This is indeed an FX lens.

Q: 4. Will this lens work with the Sony a7-iii or a7s-ii?

A: Yes, you can mount this and shoot with the Sony a7 cameras. However, this is a APS-C sensor lens and on the full frame a7 cameras the camera will select that crop mode. Unless you have a APS-C camera that you wish to use this with and/or the issue is not important for you, I would suggest considering: Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS Lens with Circular Polarizer Filter Kit B&H # SO2424035F (B&H Kit).

Q: 5. How does the aperture change with the focal length? (at 24mm, 28mm, 35mm and 50mm)

A: Aperture or F-stop is is calculated relative to the focal length of the lens. The formula is, focal length of the lens divided by the optical diameter of the lens. at 24mm the diameter is 6 = f4 The optical diameter can change as you zoom based on design. In this lens 50mm the diameter is 7.9 = f6.3 Note this is illustration is just to explain how we get f stop numbers I don't know the technical design of the lens.

Q: 6. Does this lens have a rubber gasket at the mount?

A: While Nikon does describe the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 Lens as 'dust and drip resistant,' they do not indicate that the lens is fully weather-sealed, and I could not detect a gasket at the lens mount.

Q: 7. Would this fit on the alpha a7 camera?

A: While this lens can be mounted and used on the Sony a7, it is not a full frame lens. So, you would need to shoot in APS-C size sensor mode when using this lens on the a7.

Q: 8. Does this have image stabilization?

A: Yes, it has image stabilization. I works great!

Q: 9. Is the bayonet mount ring on the back of the lens made of plastic or metal?

A: From our display model, the mounting ring on the lens is made of plastic.

Q: 10. Will this lens perform well on z7 given the increased megapixels ?

A: Yes this lens would be suitable for use with the Nikon Z7.

[Aluminum] Given the choice I always use Heliopan filters. I bought this
for a new Canon 50mm f1.8 lens. Perfect!

[Aluminum] The Okko 72mm Variable Neutral Density Filter (1 to 9 Stop) works smoothly and does not shift the colors.

[Glass] I love these filters, I used to buy B+W filters for the past 20 years until I bought and used my first PolarPro. I decided to switch given the frequent fake copies of B+W that started to appear in the market via Amazon. But then when I started using PolarPro, I realized the great quality of materials and advantages over other brands e.gr. The rugged side that facilitates removal, great optics and finishing

[Glass] Nostalgia kick. Shooting B&W on an early Pentax H3 SLR with a factory f1.4 that I want to protect. The lens has the atomic glass that I've cleared with some sunlight, and this filter (with a step-up ring) will help keep off any dust and abrasion. I've had problems on other lenses with declining quality in filters from B+W and Hoya. One had loose glass right out of the box, the other had poorly-machined threads (a burr that nearly jammed onto the lens). Tiffen are still good, but seem to scratch easily. Heliopan of Germany may have chosen to raise prices to cover the cost of maintaining quality, which shows. A hat tip to the workers at Gräfelfing for putting pride in product. Recommended.

[Single Coated] Highest standards of fabrication and materials (both glass and brass plus matte-black finish). Take a deep breath and shell out the extra. You'll be glad you did.

[UV] I have read reviews that say it's counterproductive to put cheap glass on an expensive lens. I have always gone the other way, kept a UV filter on the lens at all times, and get the results I'm working for when I do everything right. Would the pictures be better without the filter? Or better in certain situations at the margins... You could spend your entire life testing that. My solution is to pay up for a good quality filter and then focus on taking pictures.
