Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. So if I put this on the Sigma 24mm f1.4 Prime Lens, what would it make the aperture on it? Also does it work with that lens?

A: This is compatible with the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon, and it'll be roughly equivalent to a f/0.9.

Q: 2. Will this adapter work for conversion to a super 35mm sensor? Particularly to pair with a RED Komodo 6K.

A: Yes, it'll work. When you attach a 50mm lens to the adapter, it'll be equivalent to a 35mm. Once you attach the lens + adapter to a Super 35 format camera, it'll be roughly a 49mm equivalent lens. Focal Length * 0.71 * Sensor Crop Factor = Equivalent Focal Length

Q: 3. I am using Canon 5D Mark IV. This mount is using for rf lenses. Camera mount EF Lens mount RF This mount is supporting?

A: No, this is meant to put EF lenses on an RF camera.

Q: 4. Metabones says EF50mm F1.2L (II?) USM works fine without hard vignetting. It has a 55mm image circle much like EF40mm F2.8 STM also with 55mm image circle; so, it should work fine without vignetting, too. Will it work with TSE 24mm F3.5L II with 67.2mm image circle? At what image circle diameter does the SpeedBooster cut off between 55mm and 67.2mm cause a hard vignetting; since 0.71x proportionately works already for EF Lenses with 55mm image circle: 55mm 0.71x = 39.05mm (S35 minimum is ~31.6mm; APSC minimum is ~28.85mm). Inverse of FF 43.27mm is 60.94mm; does SpeedBooster not fully cover at least 60.94mm out of 67.2mm image circle available on Canon FF TSE Lenses, or just 55mm image circle of Canon EF Lenses? Metabones offers nothing "specific" (exact details missing) in its official "specifications" online. Please help with exactness.

A: As long as you are using an EF lens that is designed to cover a full frame sensor there will not be any vignetting with this lens adapter.

Q: 5. Would it vignette on the Canon EOS R5/6?

A: No, you shouldn't get any vignetting.

Q: 6. will the assignable wheel be recognized by komodo? Can you assign it to adjust iris?

A: According to the manufacturer, the RED Komodo camera (firmware V1.5.3) is not compatible with the Control Wheel function of the Metabones T Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x Adapter for Canon Full-Frame EF-Mount Lens to Canon RF-Mount Camera.

Q: 7. I noticed on 10 Sep. 2020 Sean had asked if FD lenses could work with this booster and received a negative answer. If an FD lens has a FD to RF mount adapter on the back of the FD lens would the optical path produce sharp images at infinity focus? Of course the legacy FD lens functions would be fully manual meaning no auto focus or auto aperture.

A: The FD to EF adapters have a 1.4x teleconverter which would almost negate the 0.71x factor of the booster. For example 50mm x 1.4 (with the FD to EF adapter) equals 70mm. The booster reduces is by 0.71x thus making it 49.7mm. Metabones makes this adapter for mounting FD lenses to the RF cameras (just an adapter, not a booster): https://bhpho.to/2XeOOHG.

Q: 8. For use with an R5, any advantage of this vs. Canon's $100 Mount Adapter EF-EOS R?

A: You must read the overview. the Metabones adapter is an optical system that modifies your lens. The Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x Adapter from Metabones allows a full-frame Canon EF-mount lens to be used on a Canon RF-mount camera. While providing a one-stop increase over the lens's aperture range, up to a maximum output aperture of f/0.9, the adapter's optics help to maximize the connected lens's apparent angle of view during UHD 4K video capture. It will also change your lenses angle of view. You are comparing totaly different product designed for totaly diferent outcomes.

Q: 9. the Sigma 18-35 seems to give me fairly bad auto focus, eye auto focus doesn't seem to work well either. Canon EF lenses are working fine, anyone else have this issue with the speedbooster?

A: the sigma 18-135 lens is an EF-S lens and is not supposed to be used with the MEBSEFEFRBT1

Q: 10. is this lens compatible with the lumix g7?

A: Yes, the Yongnuo YN25mm f/1.7 Prime Lens for Micro Four Thirds is compatible with the Panasonic Lumix G7.

[77 mm] Fits great with the Blazar Remus Anamorphic lenses with the R5C! Have had no issues with the mount seizing to the lens like I have seen in one or two reviews. I think as long as you don’t over tighten it you are good. Everything fits snug too so no play between the lens and the adapter or the camera. It even has a waterproof seal between the camera and adapter which is cool. Would recommend if you don’t need autofocus or ND.

[10] The Rokinon/Samyang cine lenses in this price range are basically their photo lenses with cine gears. Nice for starters--I have two of them--but these Meikes are bonafide cine lenses and not much more money. Main differences are less focus breathing and longer focus ring throw. Much easier to nail focus pulls.

[Full Frame] Recently got these lenses and have used them for almost two months across various projects, from commercials in New York to a short film in Miami. Here's what stood out:

- Exceptional build quality.
- Impressive brightness with an aperture of 1.9, resulting in beautiful bokeh.
- Consistent weight across the lenses – a real game changer when working with gimbals.
- Comes with a good quality practical carrying case for five essential lenses.
- Top-notch optical performance: no focus breathing noticed, acceptable distortion.

For indie filmmakers, these are a top pick. Highly recommended.

[10] These lenses are phenomenal for the cost. If you've worked with a variety of the more budget-friendly cine lenses, you'll tell the difference as soon as you hold this lens, but then you'll be blown away as soon as you see it through the monitor. I've been putting my gfx100ii with one of these lenses in the hands of my filmmaker friends and asking for first impressions and watching their response echo my own says it all.

[Full Frame] I got this NiSi lens with a few others to have in my kit for commercial and branded content work. The image is super clean and neutral which gives a lot of flexibility in the type of work I can do with it - whether corporate or something more artistic. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a versatile lens!

[Full Frame] I won’t say that the other reviewer is wrong, cause he very well could have gotten a bad one, but this PL adapter fits my 6k full frame perfectly. Extremely snug fit with minimal to no wiggle. Have to really pull at it to get wiggle. My Blazar Remus PL’s fit extremely well and snug on the adapter end (as they should since it locks). All in all it’s a perfect adapter for me.

[Full Frame] Been ulsing the drop in black mist filters on Athena Cine lenses, and they're awesome.

[Canon RF] I own the 16,35,50,85,and 105 (but wanted to call attention to this full kit)

These lenses have been absolutely incredible and some of my favorite to use. They are clean, yet not “clinical.” Built incredibly well, nice and fast lenses, with a nice range.

I think for the price, these are the best bang for the buck, and have outdone any lens set I’ve used even near this price.

[T1.9] The NiSi PL adapter for DJI DL Mount is currently the lightest PL adapter out for the DJI system. This works perfectly on my Ronin 4D system. I'm using it to adapt Cinema and Anamorphic PL lenses. The NiSi Athena adapter works without any calibration needed, just remove the DL mount and install this and you are good to go. You do still need the DJI X9 Counterweight when adapting heavier lenses. Overall very happy as it works perfectly.

[Canon RF] Love this lens! But I have it setup with the DJI Lidar RS as well and haven't used it on it's own outside of basic testing.

The lens itself is very nice - solid construction with a decent front loaded weight, and an easy enough to balance shimming system for mount swapping. The glass offers a lot of character with minor fringing and fairly low distortion, get it for that classic softer cine look and don't expect it to be the cleanest/sharpest lens around. I personally love how it rolls off the highlights and still gives details in the skin but also a bit of softness, when paired with my c70.

All that said, I bought this lens as part of a whole setup to solve a specifc problem, and for that purpose I couldn't be happier! I shoot mainly with a c70 in solo operating conditions as a b-cam op. This lens not only solves most of my focusing issues, but it also serves as the fastest setup with it's auto calibration feature when paired with DJI's Lidar RS. Now I get a decent jump in hitting focus while in auto via the Lidar mod, and I have the added benefit of more unique cine lens look vs my native Canon DSLR glass. It's awesome, and has performed perfectly for me so far! I only wish that they'd release a wider 21mm Cyber or maybe a 16 or 18 instead.
