A: Unfortunately, the specific stands offered in this kit are not available on their own.

Q: 3. will the new cine fabrics fit on the old style scrim jim?

A: No, the new Scrim Jim Cine standardized it's sizing from the previous version. The Scrim Jim Cine frames are now easier to connect, and provide a sturdier frame.

Q: 4. How do you get a seamless backdrop off once it's on? This is so silly, but I put one on when I first got this and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it off.

A: Lift the crossbar off one side and then pull the background off.

Q: 5. Do both sides have velcro?

A: The Westcott Scrim Jim Cine Unbleached Muslin/Black Fabric (4 x 6') only has Velcro touch attachments on one side of the fabric. However, the Westcott Scrim Jim on which the fabric is used does have Velcro touch fasteners on both sides of the frame once assembled.

Q: 6. The top collar is supposed to slide when you extend the legs. When I fully loosen, the metal inside collar is still fully engaged which doesn't allow me to slide the legs. What am I missing?

A: You must loosen the bottom collar and make sure that the column is pulled up.

Q: 7. Can the muslin side be painted for use as a background?

A: Ryan, The muslin is a very loosly threaded fabric and it is likely paint would bleed through affecting the Black Fabric. Therefore I would not suggest painting the muslin side of this fabric.

Q: 8. Can you Iron out the wrinkles/ folds ? what power ? thank you

A: Yes, the Westcott Scrim Jim Cine Unbleached Muslin/Black Fabric (4 x 4') can be ironed at a low setting with a towel between the product and the iron, treat the fabric gently.

Q: 9. How do you think this backdrop will do if kept outside in the rain? I will use mine only outdoors and it is convenient for me to just leave it set up there with heavy sandbags. But if it will get ruined quickly, I'll just have to bring it in. Thanks.

A: Since I have not left my back drop out side, through all types of weather, I can not answer your question truthfully. I have looked over the two tripods and the cross bar and I think the enamel coating would be safe from rust from rain and snow - I think, but I can not say for sure. The possible concern for rust would be the threads of the screws for the tripod sections and the holders at each end of the cross bar. I can not tell if they are galvanized, or resistant to moisture. If you are concerned for possible rust, you could possibly wrap electrical tape around the exposed threads. This would probably not be so easy to do on the screws that secure the cross bar. Just my opinion, no guarantees. The construction of the back drop is sturdy and well made.

Q: 10. What’s the maximum weight for this?

A: The maximum supported weight is 38 lb.

[11.055 lb] Compact, lightweight and easily assembled. The footprint is adjustable and can be used in tight spaces. I do recommend using the 8×8 backgrounds instead of the longer ones. Either one works though, so I do recommend this. Also I believe that this is easily transported. 5

[Black] Excellent backdrop stand. The original X-Drop was well designed but extremely flimsy, too easy to accidentally break. This new one the pro hits that sweet spot where it is still very lightweight but also robust. As an added bonus it also takes Westcott's new line of wider backdrops designed for the new pro model (as well as the prior backdrops). One of the components was damaged in shipping, but still usable. I sent a copy of my B&H order to Westcott and explained the problem. They Fedex'd to me a replacement component that arrived within a couple of days. Excellent customer service. Very highly recommended. 5

[1] I recently purchased the X-Drop Pro backdrop system and it's a well-designed product. It's lightweight and portable and can be set up in a few minutes. One feature that makes this system very practical is the option to snug up the rear leg to get the stand within about a foot of a wall. That's extremely useful in tight spaces. The unit comes in a durable case that has enough extra room to hold a few cloth backdrops. I bought two backdrops and I noticed that the canvas version photographs with slightly more detail than the cloth version. The cloth version is easy to fold whereas the canvas backdrop must be rolled. Any creases from folding the cloth backdrops are virtually eliminated once the backdrop is under the tension of the stand. Even though it only takes a few minutes to swap out backdrops, I plan to buy another X-Drop Pro stand for my studio so I don't have to change backdrops as often. I highly recommend the X-Drop Pro, despite the fact that it's a proprietary system. On the plus side, it's reasonably priced and for a modest investment, one can have beautiful and versatile backdrop options. 5

[11.055 lb] I was a little worried, this was the second most expensive backdrop I have ever purchased. The other one was a 14'x10' White backdrop. When I first opened it up I was struck by two thoughts. First, the material was very nice and felt high quality, there were no creases, and was easy to hang. Second, the printing looked poor and highly pixelated. Once I got it up on my stand and took a step back I realized that the pixelated look was just because I was inches away. From even 3 to 4 feet away the pixelation disappears and then I was struck by how good the printing was. Usually, when you order a cheap 30-50 amazon special backdrop the colors are not as they are shown on the product page, but this was exactly as shown. The grommets are very well-placed and strong. I was not using a Westcott stand so I uses a clamp instead of the grommet in the middle but it worked very well. Next time I am looking for a backdrop I will check Westcott first and will probably get an X-Drop stand so I can set everything up faster. 5

[Black] This system is super light weight, and comes with a backpack type carrying case. Can easily set this up in just a few minutes! Love the fact that you don’t have to extend the back base out all the way, great for smaller spaces! Definitely Recommend! 5

[1] I've read a lot of reviews about disappointments with the low quality of some backdrop fabrics that are too thin and wrinkle or rip. This is good stuff at a very fair price. Very large and worked flawlessly as a backdrop for my brother's furniture photo shoot. Eliminated the glare from the light colored back wall. It took a long time for me to realize just how harmful that back wall was reflecting too much light onto the surface of his beautiful wood tops, and washing out the color and hiding the grain. Now I just have to paste in whatever background looks appropriate with Photoshop. 5
