[QD] I use EF lenses on the Canon R6Mark II with the EF-EOS R mount adapter. I was worried that the SmallRig rotatable mount plate might not work with that adapter in place. It does, although you will lose the functionality of the control ring. I wanted to be able to rotate the camera into portrait mode with a wide angle lens for night sky photography, and it works just great. L brackets interfere with the flip screen. This rotatable mount plate is a good solution.

[Aluminum, Steel] I didn't expect much at this price and was skeptical.

Pleasantly surprised ... very well made and extremely well thought out from an engineering perspective.

Allows rotating my A7R-IV camera from landscape to portrait orientation quickly and while keeping the lens centered the same ... I use it on a tripod especislly wityh a macro lens, and a monopod when doing location portraits.

If Really Right Stuff made this, it would be 3X the price.

[7.4 x 4 x 2.4"] I have struggled with L-brackets for years - forgetting them, changing them, losing them . . .

Now, with the SmallRig kit, I struggle with none of it! I put the rig on my Sony body, and I just leave it there. It is light, unobtrusive, and easy to use.

The design lets me get to my SD cards, my batteries, and all the side plugs without removing the rig. My favorite part is that, with a simple twist of one knob, I can rotate my camera from horizontal to vertical and never take it off the tripod. What a fabulous design.

I am also grateful to the really lovely tech guy who helped my select the SmallRig (I came in for another brand that turned out to be not as sufficient for my needs). He got both brands out, helped me assemble and understand them, and was patient the whole time that it took for me to decide on the SmallRig.

Thank you!

[Yes] I received the updated item and it works as desired. The locking mechanism now works and the lens release correctly will release the lens. So, as I thought, it was a manufacturing issue on the previous one. This works as advertised and am excited to use it.

[Yes] I photograph the Northern Lights using a gimbal mount on a tripod. This means the camera is always in the horizontal position and that's very limiting. This rotating mount works perfectly. It's sturdy. All my Canon lenses fit. I can change rotation fast to compose images of rapidly-changing Northern Lights. I love it. Which I had it 10 years ago.

[7.4 x 4 x 2.4"] Until now I've relied on Kirk L-brackets. However the pivoting screens on the a7iv and a7rv are more easily used with this new rotating plate.

Most of all I appreciate how much better control I now have on ball heads with the arca foot forward and thus closer to the center of gravity of the camera + lens. This is excellent with longer lenses lacking tripod collars, such as my Sony 2.8/90 macro and my Tamron 2.8/70-180.

Today I was in the field doing wildflower close ups using a monopod close to the ground. Monopods don't stand by themselves. With an L-bracket on a monopod, switching from landscape to portrait is awkward. Position, framing and focus are lost in the process. But with this rotating bracket I could loosen the friction control with my left hand and rotate the camera with my right, while continuing to view my composition through the EVF.

Access to the electrical ports is unobstructed, nice for in camera USB-C charging.

To stabilize the bracket against horizontal rotation there is an anti rotation pin which must be screwed through the bottom plate to enter a matching hole in the bottom plate of the camera, alongside the battery door. My first Smallrig bracket was delivered missing this tiny part. B&H exchanged it. Be sure to use the pin.

When not using a tripod or monopod this rotating bracket looks clumsy. However the Arca foot can rest in my left palm with the camera balancing well, thus facilitating steadier camera control and less muscle fatigue.

[0.735 lb] I have a boxfull too. Not counting L-plates. RRS, Kirk, cheapo no name, ,etc etc collected over the years for various cameras/rigs. Could I find anything that fit the 50R? Well, one tiny thin one made in China as auniversal plate but I did not want to put a $3.5K body with a $2.5K lens on that - so we know Acratech is bullet proof and B&H had it in stock..... It fits, its robust, I use it with the 50R on a RRS/Sirui head/monopod for some landscape work (no in body IS in the 50R) this locks 'em up good 'an proper. Thought about one star off for the price but the cost is probably worth the peace of mind if you are an anxious/neurotic like me.

[Aluminum, Steel] Really like the design of these quick rotating vertical mounts. Smallrig did a great job with the design.

[QD] I was amazed by the precision and fine details that this unit fits my A7R IV body. I must emphasizes here that if your model is not ones listed, do not get it. There are other makes available that may fit better.
The fit is perfect to the degree that the center of your lens stays in the center for either horizontal or vertical shooting.
