Equipped with a variety of heat sinks found around the VRM, M.2 drives, I/O, and chipset, the PROJECT ZERO enhances thermal performance on a passive level. Fully Fan Control allows you to view your fan performance profiles and adjust parameters to your liking and also auto detects your fans to optimize cooling while keeping your system quiet. Additionally, dedicated pump fan headers support liquid cooling AiO systems.

A unique 14+1+1 duet rail power system maintains performance across the 2 oz copper, 6-layer PCB, supporting a variety of high-powered components with ease. The PROJECT ZERO incorporates double 8-pin power connectors, full digital power design, and Core Boost technology, all working together to enhance throughput for your components. BIOS settings allow you to engage with overclocking capabilities with Performance Switch, PBO Thermal Point, and Config TDP systems.

Rear-placed connectors make it easy to route your cables, giving your system a neat and clean look. System Saver functionality assists with updating your BIOS and giving you multiple boot options. You also get an XL Clip, EZ Debug LED, Keep Out Zone, a pre-installed I/O shield, and Windows 11 certification, all working together to ensure your system runs properly.

MSI's Lightning Gen 5 technology works along the various interfaces to expand power utility for graphics cards, giving you up to 128 GB/s throughput. Surface Mount Technology PCIe 5.0 slots reduce electrical noise while maintaining throughput.

With multiple software suites and BIOS options, you get programs like CLICK BIOS 5 and MSI Center as well as trials for AIDA64 and Norton 360. Additionally, you get Resizable Bar which opens up the bandwidth between your CPU and GPU for faster performance.

Dedicated audio capabilities ensure optimal sound whether you are playing games or listening to your favorite media. The PROJECT ZERO leverages an HD audio processor with high quality audio capacitors and audio jacks. Isolated Audio Signal separates left and right tracks for cleaner sound. DE-POP protection prevents the loud popping sound when you plug and un-plug your headphones. Additionally, Isolated Analogy Structure separates audio connectors from the internal layout while ensuring crisp audio quality.

Add more color to your system with MSI's Mystic Light software. With support for A-RAINBOW V2 headers, RGB colorization, and Ambient Link technology, you can easily transform your system into the centerpiece of your room.

[4x 288-Pin] There've been no issues with the board. Windows O.S. setup was really easy as the board provided the needed network drivers to get started. The armored PCI slot feels much more solid than the non-armored ones used. Using a card bracket and this board the giant 4070TI card feels rock solid in place. Would recommend to anyone looking for an Intel board.

[5.4] It's a great motherboard. I like the aesthetic (nicer than my previous X570 Tomahawk aside from not having any RGB lighting). The one disappointment I have is that it only has one header for my front USB4 ports, so you would need a splitter if you need more.

Fast, easy tips for undervolting a 14900K build: set a -.125v voltage offset, set LLC4 (it's buried in a menu called DigitALL Power Settings) disable enhanced turbo. If it's not stable, try -0.1v, -.085v, -.075v.

[5x RGB] I just plugged things in and it worked. The bios is simple enough to navigate. It was able to update all of its own drivers through Windows update.

Make sure to follow the QR code on the box to get a PDF of the manual; the quick-start guide that's included in the box is pretty inadequate. (Doesn't tell you which DIMM slots to start with, or how to access the m.2 ports.)

[LGA 1700] This motherboard is very expensive, but it's like buying the top of the line in anything, it costs more.

Pros: I love all the USB options. I love the fancy NVMe slots (5)! I love the Wi-fi which is 6E (DLs 7MB/s more now with no upgrade to old N router.) 6 SATA ports is good. My system went from an I7 4770K to an I9 13900K (runs hot but nothing can help that I think). Love the Bluetooth for my wireless headphones.

Cons: The only problem I had putting it together was when I inserted the CPU it did not work right; my brother had to re-seat it and re-apply the heat goo and CPU fan (which I was loathe to do myself) but then it worked great! Flashed BIOS before re-seating of CPU trying to fix; good idea to flash with newest anyway. The 5.0 NVMe slot shares bandwidth with the video slot so if I go to a 5.0 device it will cut my video bandwidth in half. Not sure this is the MB's fault. But I hate sharing on MB slots.

System now:
*Intel I9 13900K (I7 4770K vs. I9 13900k = Passmark 7120 vs. 60065)
*MSI MPG Z790 CARBON WIFI
*CORSAIR Vengeance 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR5 5600 (4x more upgrade)
*Noctua NH-U12A chromax.black, 120mm Single-Tower CPU Cooler
(Now I'd go with the dual towers and 140mm fans for the 13900K)
*Cooler Master HAF X case (for drive bays)
*Seagate FireCuda 530 M.2 2280 2TB PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe 1.4 3D TLC (boot drive) over the Samsung option for durability stats.
*PCIE 1X to 20 Ports SATA PCIe Controller Expansion Card (because LOL) and I have 2 DVD RW BDR drives and a bunch of SATA HDD drives.
*NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (old but I just spent a truckload on upgrades) Wishing for 3060 or 3070 in future.
*20TB WD HDD
*Several older HGST HDDs (love HGST!)
*Cooler Master 1000W Gold Silent Pro PSU (old but works)
Running Win10 x64 Pro

My hat is off to B&H for super-fast delivery and working well with me on other issues.

[Dual Channel] This motherboard is well made and has all the IO I need. I cannot speak for overclocking capabilities as I do not plan to use the, but the 2.5gb network port is nice along with bulletin Bluetooth. M2. card install was was and so was the setup.

[6x SATA III] I haven't run into any issues with this motherboard yet. Needed to install certain drivers during initial install but that was simple enough. Looks great with my all white build!

[1x 4-Pin Pump] One of my favorite ways to judge a boards stability is whether it sleeps and wakes properly. This one does. Other aspects: I've got reasonably fast ram timings on stock voltage. 6200 Mhz with 32,39,39,102. It did not like the XMP3 out of the box, which would have been the same timing but 6400 Mhz but its because I'm running 2x32 sticks and the manual says to expect no better than 6000. My cpu runs very cool... an i7 13700K cooled with a Corsair H170I Elite Capellix 420 mm AIO cooler in a Lian Li Lancool III White RGB. It holds at 75C for a full load cinebench. I did use a Thermal Right LGA1700-BCF BLACK contact frame for better heatsink seating. Arctic MX-6 Thermal paste. it idles in the ~30C range. Gaming it stays in the 40's most of the time with only incursion into the 50C range. the highest I've seen gaming is 58C which is great.

the boards soundcard the Realtek 4080 is an improvement over the 1220 it replaced. they both sound great but the 4080 is fuller and louder.

I love the intel 1226v NIC. My switch supports and I get the full speed.

4-NVME's is a great option. I'm only using 2 but will add more.

This replaced a Ryzen 9 5950X. It is faster for almost everything, but for my primary box this is a great machine.

I recommend the MAG-Z790-TOMAHAWK-WIFI

[LGA 1700] Its a nice Motherboard for my dream PC, very easy to setup. Its really heavy. I am not a gamer but interested in technology. I like: 7 M.2 slot, DDR5 RAM up to 128, Double USB-A and C port. E-ATX size match to my Corsair 7000D full tower case.

[Windows ] I like futurproof motherboard designs everytime I build a new PC which is not often. Six years after building my last gaming/productivity PC, I decided to go with MSI after looking at the competition closely. This 13th generation motherboard checked all the boxes and slightly beat the ASUS board in value (imho). DDR5 memory, PCIe 5.0 slot, Gen 5 M.2, and Intel Wi-Fi 6E did it for me! Love this thing!
