Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this strictly for input to a computer. Can it be used in the opposite direction? For example output from computer to an external monitor?

A: While I can't say for certain, it's very likely not to work. Capture cards use software drivers to interpret and convert the video signal from the input into a USB-camera device, i.e. like a webcam. Most external displays would be looking for a video-signal to display. However, you shouldn't need a capture card since you can just use a HDMI cable from the computer directly to the monitor.

Q: 2. Does the audio input insert audio into the hdmi loop through, or just into the usb recording stream?

A: A loop through usually only sends out the same input that was brought in. More than like the 3.5mm audio input would only be for the capture devices stream itself.

Q: 3. Would this work with an Olympus PEN-F?

A: Yes, you will only need an HDMi to Micro HDMI cable to connect the two devices.

Q: 4. Does it work with a MacBookPro running MacOs Catalina, 10.15.4?

A: Yes, this will work well with 10.15.4.

Q: 5. Will this encoder work with Roland V-1HD?

A: Yes it will. The Roland V-1HD will be able output a signal to the Magewell USB Capture HDMI Gen 2.

Q: 6. What input frame rates does it support. Is it only 60p or does it support 30p and 24p input as well?

A: The IOGEAR301 supports up to 60p, including 30p and 24p.

Q: 7. Can this device be used to stream a video from my DSLR to a video streaming service such as zoom?

A: Yes it can.

Q: 8. does the IOGEAR HDMI to USB Type-C Video Capture Adapter support 4k streaming?

A: No, it supports up to 1080p60.

Q: 9. someone at BandH: will this work with OSX Mojave?? and why does it get so hot?

A: Yes, this capture device should work fine with OS X Mojave. However if you are facing issues with it over heating feel free to email us directly at askbh@bhphoto.com.

Q: 10. Does this adapter install a driver on the operating system? I intend to simply hook it up to convert signal from my video Camcorder (HDMI output) to a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 (Type C input) . IF it encodes or requires a codec or driver it WONT WORK for my intention.

A: This product is designed to work with computers. It is not compatible with Tablets.

[0.05 lb] Kondor Blue HDMI to USB-C Capture Card for Live Streaming Video & Audio. I use this as a framing/focusing monitor connection from my Lumix S5 (with a separate small-to-full hdmi connector cable) into my iPad mini 6th. It was a bit frustrating to setup --no instructions-- but I did find out that it required an iPad app (I chose the free CamX) for it to display the camera's hdmi output. Good product, good price, from B&H.

[HDMI/USB] I really didn't have many expectations when I ordered this. But, I am pleasantly surprised at how great the video and sound capture were on this. Keep in mind, USB devices usually only go up to 60FPS so keep your expectations limited to that. But if you think about the quality of plug and play devices that rhyme with toku, they only go up to 60fps IF you have a higher end model. Even the fire devices have very low refresh rate. So, any high quality is going to be brought down to DVD quality. That said, this captures as good as any device in that quality range. I love that I can hook up my DSLR and use it as a web cam! Photo is a capture of HD video streaming into my camera app.
