Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Since it looks like this lens can be used for astrophotography, can you recommend a dew shield?

A: We recommend using the Ruggard Fabric Rain Shield with the TTArtisan 500mm f/6.3 Lens. You can use the medium size (BH #RURCFC717), or the large (BH #RURCFC723) if you intend to mount the camera and lens on a gimble.

Q: 2. Any idea if this will accept a Nikon Z Teleconverter (1.4X or 2X)?

A: Nikon Z teleconverters are not compatible with TTArtisan 500mm f/6.3 Lens (Nikon Z).

Q: 3. does it have auto focus ?

A: No, the TTArtisan 500mm f/6.3 Lens (Sony E) is a manual focus design.

Q: 4. Will it fit and work with NikonD7200

A: Yes, the TTArtisan 500mm f/6.3 Lens (Nikon F) is compatible with the Nikon D7200 camera. Please be aware that this lens is a manual focus design, so there will be no auto focus while using the lens.

Q: 5. Can this be used with the FTZII

A: The TTArtisan 500mm f/6.3 Lens (Nikon F) can be used with the Nikon FTZ II lens adapter--it won't support automatic exposure or autofocus, but it is a manual focus lens anyway.

Q: 6. Will 2x teleconverters work with this lens?

A: The Kenko TELEPLUS HD DGX 2x Teleconverter for Canon EF/EF-S Lenses, B&H # KEKTPHD20C, is compatible with the TTArtisan 500mm f/6.3 Lens (Canon EF). However, because a 2x teleconverter cuts two stops of light, using the teleconverter is not practical.

Q: 7. Thoughts on using using a EF to RF (Canon brand) adapter with the EF lens on a Canon R50?

A: You shouldn't have any issues using the TTArtisan 500mm f/6.3 Lens (Canon RF) to adapt from EF to RF. The lens is manual focus anyway so focus speed is irrelevant in this current inquiry.

Q: 8. Does this lens have hard infinity focus stop or it needs to be manually adjusted to infinity?

A: The TTArtisan 500mm f/6.3 Lens (Nikon F) has a infinity focus hard stop. The lens is completely manual therefore, you will need to turned the focus ring to infinity focus.

Q: 9. I shoot Sony FF (A7iii) and Fujifilm X (X-T2). Is there an adapter that would allow using this lens on both systems?

A: There is no lens adapter we are aware of that will allow the TTArtisan 500mm f/6.3 Lens (Sony E) to work on a Fujifilm X mount camera.

Q: 10. Does this lens come with a lens bag/case? Or can you recommend one?

A: The TTArtisan 500mm f/6.3 Lens (Sony E) does not include a case. I can recommend the Lowepro Lens Case 13 x 32cm (Black) or the Ruggard Lens Case (Black, 12 x 5"): https://bhpho.to/4dZqef6.

[4.465 lb] I have a Sony a6500, I decided to do street photography this lenses is very compact, manual focusing is fast and stop clicks are firm. I like the contrast of the lens when I shoot black and white on my digital camera easy to control within the camera, very few corrections needed in Photoshop once you understand how the lens works.
One slight annoyance is when you mount the lens it seems to take a little bit more force then necessary, that's why I returned it for an exchange on the same lens.
Functionability in handling getting to the f-stop in the focusing is very easy, I have relatively normal to small hands which makes it easier for me to control. Finding filters for it took a little while but I have a range of colored filters for contrast and black and white.
According to the information I read you can use infrared filters on the Sony 6500 haven't tried it purchasing two filters to see how well it works if the contrast is good as black and white I should have no problems bringing out the contrast when using a infrared filter.
Sorry for being long-winded but that's my opinion of the lens overall I like it I hope this helps everybody interested in doing black and white and infrared photography.

[82 mm (Front)] I'm not a pixel peeper, but I've been into photography for 50+ years and I do know when images please me. The images from this lens please me. I love its diminutive size, the marking are clear, the focusing action is smooth, and the grip on the focusing ring is adequate. The price is outstanding!

[82 mm (Front)] I love the click on the aperture ring and the manual focus works well. All around it produces really great images for the price and it is really fun to use.

[FUJIFILM X] Good build quality, focus ring is tight but good for small adjustment when shooting. The product description didn’t show there’s an arcs Swiss cut out, but there is one in the actual lens. it’s a bit thin, which is a little lose when I put it on my Sirui k30x ball head arca receiver. Anyway great lens

[FUJIFILM X] Decent quality for a bargain price. Some pictures came out sharper than others, which tells me the determining factor in image quality is probably NOT the lens' fault but either mine or UV haze.

[500mm] Like Roger Ebert used to say, read the review not the stars. This lens has to get 5 for its build quality and price. I wanted something for my A7c that was compact and fun – and could also be used for stylized video on my A7s III. I wanted the soft corners and vignetting wide open and am happy with it. The lens is a bit heavier than I expected though. It's heavier than a few Samyang primes I have and as heavy as vintage primes that are more than twice as big (Zeiss Jena/Super-Takumar). It's not heavy in absolute terms, just for its size.

[FUJIFILM X] I've read the reviews of this lens and decided to get it. I considered the few flaws (vignetting, somewhat soft edges, reduced contrast when shooting towards the light, and manual focus) to give it character and produce unique images. My actual experience with the lens is, so far, better than I expected. The build quality is excellent. It feels solid and operates smoothly. The images, when wide open (f2.0) show some vignetting and minimal softness around the edges, which I would have done in post processing anyway. The bokeh is beautiful. The pictures are very sharp, especially when the aperture is above f5.6. The lens is small, light, and fun to use. I had no issue with the manual focus or with getting the exposure right. It took me some time to get used to the narrow aperture ring that is placed in the front of the lens. I replaced the screw-on lens cap with a center-pinch one. This lens is perfect for the Nikon Z f.

[f/6.3] For the price of this lens, it is just amazing. A slight corner distortion is to be expected, but even that is fairly minimal.

[Full-Frame] I bought this lens to use as a 75mm lens on my a6100; it produces sharp and good looking images. Highly recommended.
