Q: 1. Will the V1 accept a HDMI signal from Panasonic HDC-TM700? I see 35' as a length for HDMI cables I tried on the Black Magic and it would't accept any HDMI signal from the Panasonic TM700 over 12'. That being the case I returned it since it didn't state that condition.

A: Generally speaking, an HDMI signal is not strong and weakens exponentially with distance traveled. I would blame the distance and the type of HDMI cable before any switcher. If indeed the switcher is not accepting the signal another does, I would still suggest getting a better cable. HDMI signals peter out 30-35' so if you are anywhere near that, you need HDMI cabling with booster circuitry. Please follow the link for a selection of longer distance HDMI cables. http://bhpho.to/1LRl5rv

Q: 2. Please, how do you do the live titles as DSK? I really would be glad to know. Thank you.

A: I am new to the product but I layout my graphics in Photoshop with a green background. So, my lower thirds are all designed on top of a green layer (1920 x 1080). I export the graphic out as a .jpg. So, I would have my laptop as source, and the other sources are cameras. I apply the key effect on the graphic/laptop imagery (displayed in fullscreen on laptop).

Q: 3. What is the maximum length of the HDMI cable if you the Live Feed?

A: In general the longest length for a standard HDMI cable without any signal degradation is around 35 feet. For anything longer than that you would want to look in to a product to extend the signal, such as a LAN Extender that uses Cat6 cable or an HDMI Super Booster.

Q: 4. Hi !! Is this switcher compatible with all my camera NTSC signal having frame rate 30 fps ? Thanks!!

A: This unit is only listed for 59.94 (60). 30 FPS is not available.

Q: 5. Will this switcher feed hdmi imbedded audio to a device like an Epiphan Webcaster X2?

A: Yes, Audio and Video are available on the HDMI output. You can attach the switcher via USB to a computer (I use a SurfacePro and with the correct software, you will have an audio mixer for the video switcher.

Q: 6. Does this unit output 23.97fps or 29.97 fps at 1080p ?

A: Sorry this unit only supports 50/59.94. You would have to do a signal conversion from those frame rates.

Q: 7. Is there any way of running a Aux signal?

A: The V-1SDI has two SDI outputs, one for Program and the other for Preview. They cannot be changed to an Aux input though for operations like sending out a clean signal or a specific isolated camera only.

Q: 8. How to add Graphic Overlay?

A: The Roland V-1HD has graphics keying capabilities. You could bring in a source with graphics in to one of the 4 HDMI inputs. Datavideo offers the TC-200 & CG-200 HD/SD Character Generator Kit, B&H #DATC200, which can be connected through HDMI. You could also look at connecting a computer or tablet for keying with this unit.

Q: 9. I have 3 Nikon DSLRs D800, D600, D700 and a Canon XA10 what do I need to connect these to work with the V-1HD. (to convert 720p60 to 1080p60 or convert 1080p30 to 1080p60). Or alternatively can I input 1080p60 from the switcher even when my inputs are 720p60?

A: With the Roland V-1, you must select one of these as your input signal: 1080i, 1080p, or 720p. Except for the D700 which is a stills only camera, all the camera's do 1920 x 1080P. Set that on the camera's plus the Roland and you are set.

Q: 10. The only allowable input formats are 60fps at 1080i, 1080p or 720p? Any device having lower FPS attributes will not be seen by the V-1HD? Also, if I had a device that outputs 720p and another device that outputs 1080p, can they both connect to the V-1HD simultaneously?

A: The V-1HD can mix between 1080I and 1080p only. In the 720p mode all HDMI sources must be 720p. Sorry, but the V-1HD will not work with any formats like 480i/P - you can use one of the Roland Multi-Format mixers like the Roland V-40HD.You can however select a output format to be 720p, 1080i or 1080p at all times to downscale or upscale.

[1 GB ] The Korg Minilogue is a SUPER fun & intuitive analog synth for everyone from beginners to seasoned synthesits. I've been programming synths for 20 years and this was just as fun as the first synth I ever used. Its analog sound is wonderful and thick. Almost everything has a knob or switch for control and, for the patches I was making, I never went into the menus for further editing beyond naming patches and setting sequencer settings. The shape control of the oscillators gives a lot of variation to your standard waveforms and the sync/ring-mod, cross modulation, & pitch envelope of oscillator two really open up the sonic possibilities. I very much enjoy the dedicated switch for velocity modulation of the filter cutoff and I like that there are only two modulation depths beyond none. My favorite feature of the Minilogue is the envelope modulation of either the rate or the intensity of the LFO. This really gives a sense of motion to what is already a sense of motion from the LFO. My only complaint is that the LFO doesn't go fast enough for analog-FM style tones. It's not nearly as fast as the LFO on the Monologue but that's more of an observation that a full drawback. I really enjoyed the different voice modes of this synth, really finding mono, which introduces a variable level sub, and chord, which creates various fixed chords, to be the most useful beyond the standard poly mode. This is by far the best poly synth I have ever found for someone who is interested in learning analog synthesis. The knobs and switches along with the actual layout of them makes programming make sense and a joy to use. The Minilogue does have mini-keys but the mini keys Korg has been using for their new synths are really great. Much better than the microKORG. With the Minilogue, Korg really show us that there will always be room for one more analog synth.

[Download] I have been using Roland synthesizer since the 1980s. I am a hard to convince consumer when it comes to analog modeling and this one is probably some of the best I've heard from Roland. The ability to stack all of your different synthesizer models on top of one another is amazing. it's very convincing and is just gorgeous sounding. The keyboard feels good and the flow is incredible with all of the polyphony it sounds huge!

[Yes] If you love the Juno series, this has all of them and yes it sounds just like the old ones. Its buit tough, the action is great. Building your own sounds is very adictive, easy and once get used to the layout and menus its easy. I love all the customisable buttons and sliders on the left. The knobs and sliders are silky smooth and tough. The sounds are very lush and full, the effects are good, but not perfect, the reverb is basic, but its smooth. The delay is very nice and so is the drive. It was easy to update the firmware all you need is a thumb drive. If you want that Juno sound and dont want to risk getting an original, this will do nicely.

[Download] I grew up on the old Roland Junos, and was especially fond of my Juno 60. The sounds from that, the Juno 106 and Jupiter 8 were in a class by themselves. The System-8 brings all of that back. The sounds are there, as is the layout -- with all the controls out and ready to be tinkered with -- making it a great blast from the past. Having both a Juno 106 and Jupiter 8 all in one, along with the System 8 synth, is pretty sweet. I was skeptical of a digital take on analog sounds, but Roland's ACB technology delivers. It too, is in its own class.

[Synthesizer] The minilogue is a full fledged 4 voice polyphonic analog synth with 1 LFO. You can save patches (200) and the oscilloscope is helpful for patch building. When recalling patches, there are several options for the knobs too-- the default is to 'jump' to the value that the knob is turned to, but there is also a 'catch' option that won't change the parameter until you move the knob to where it was in the saved patch-- this is very helpful for live performance to ensure smooth parameter transitions! I have been using in both studio and live setting. Overall a surprisingly well made and feature-full analog synth... hard to believe korg packed everything in at such a low pricepoint for analog polys!
