    Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with BeFree Compact Travel Carbon Fiber Tripod (Carbon) , B&H # MAMKBFRC4BH?

    A: how would I know?

Q: 2. How solid is the locking mechanism? Has anyone ever had issues with the camera/camcorder slipping out?

A: Pretty solid. There's a second push-in release button that only allows the plate to slip off after the main nob is released.

Q: 3. The mfr does not state load capacity. What is estimated load capacity in pounds?

A: Don't know exactly. But I think it's weight capacity not less than 5 kg. It's CNC machined and seems to be very solid. Also it's wider than the original Manfrotto 577 which is also die cast aluminium. Also be aware that Shape company just repacks Hongkong made product. Mine even didn't come with Shape label. It's original price twice less than on this site.

Q: 4. Does this work with the plates from the Ronin S?

A: The Ronin S is compatible with 501 plates. This is a 501 plate. Yes, this plate will be able to work with the Ronin S.

Q: 5. Will this work with the miller DS-20 Fluid Head plate?

A: No, the Axler QRA-501L Quick Release Assembly (B&H# AXQRA501L) is not compatible with the Miller DS-20 Fluid Head (75mm Ball Base) (B&H# MI184).

Q: 6. How much weigth can this assembly carry / hold?

A: There is no listed weight limit for this adapter. We would however, feel comfortable up to 20 maybe 25 lbs.

Q: 7. Will this work with the Sachtler Ace XL 75/2 D Tripod?

A: Yes. This Axler Quick Release Assembly is compatible with Sachtler ACE XL tripods.

Q: 8. The Axler QRA-501S and QRA-501L adapters look the same. Other than the plates that come with them, what is the difference?

A: BH #AXQRA501L is a longer option. The width and height of the plats are the same and interchangeable.

Q: 9. can you lift the plate straight up from the adapter or can you only slide it out?

A: Its slides out in a wedge shape.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with 500plong plate?

A: Yes this has the Manfrotto 501 QR system.

[Silver] Good morning,Five stars for the quick release plate from Shape.......-outstanding qualityOne star to B&H chat operator that suggest me to buy this for my camera Rig by saying yes this should work.....Unfortunately.....the quick release plate is not working well with my camera rig.....Because is not built for it! Ok, I will use for something else. For shoore i could buy somethink else instead of this unnecessary tools.Beside that everythink fine as always B&H is the first place where you need to look before you decide to buy somewhere else.

[Silver] This is easily the highest quality 501 style base I've ever used and this includes the bases built into fluid heads costing hundreds of dollars. The Azler just reeks of quality. Highly recommend.

[Silver] Makes life much easier when moving the camera from one means of support to another. I appreciate the handy features like built-in level and extra mounting screw storage.

[Yes (Included)] I got 4 of these w/o any reviews having been yet written, so a slight risk. I had looked at all the other options in this price range, and they all basically found one key flaw: hard to assemble---and this coupled with the necessarily less robust construction in a less expensive product meant premature tears, separations, & etc. What this meant for most was that others were fine for single set up in a studio, not great for location work. But location work was something I really needed these for.

I noted that these were quick setup boxes with the rods already inserted. What was not as clear was that the rods were also permanently connected to a clamshell ring that you open up and lock, and in so doing unfurl the softbox. Unbelievably easy! Literally takes seconds. There is then an included Bowens adapter ring that mounts on your light, which you then slide/twist into the back of the clamshell. There are 2 wide head screws already mounted in the clamshell that grab the Bowens adapter flange, and a third, separate larger knurled screw that goes into the third hole and tightens down. Again, a matter of seconds. I'll be able to have 4 lights, 4 softboxes, all mounted on my stands I'll bet in under 3 minutes, no exaggeration.

The only caveats (not going to call them cons) are that the clamshells have a little weight to them---not a ton, and they need it to be robust---and i think the rods end in a loop, secured by a small screw, in the clamshell (but I did not take apart to make sure). This means that you can't use the softboxes themselves in another ring. I don't care, really, and if I find I do I'll bet I can get a set of separate rods.

Sirui doesn't make junk in my experience, and I was actually pretty surprised at the low full price of these. I would highly recommend them in this price range.
