Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it cover the c70 sensor?

A: This lens does cover the C70 sensor. This is an APS-C lens.

Q: 2. Is it weather sealed?

A: Unfortunately Venus Optics Laowa Argus 33mm f/0.95 CF APO Lens for FUJIFILM X is not weather sealed.

Q: 3. Does this lens transmit EXIF data to the camera?

A: Yes, this lens transfers EXIF data to the camera.

Q: 4. Does this lens work with focus peaking on the Nikon Z camera bodies?

A: Focusing peaking is a camera feature so any lens can use the focus peaking.

Q: 5. What is the difference between the close focus distance and the minimum working distance? Does this spec difference mean you can focus on subjects less than 3" away from the lens?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 100mm T2.9 2x Macro APO FF Cine Lens' (Canon RF) close focus distance is the minimal focal distance form the sensor plane, which is 9.7", and the 2.8" minimum distance is the minimum focal distance from the end of the lens.

A: No, the 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm f/0.95 Lens for Canon RF is a completely manual lens that does not communicate with the camera. As such the camera does not know whether it is a crop lens or not. It is designed for a smaller sensor so you would have very significant vignetting wehn used on full-frame if you do not manually set the camera to crop.

Q: 8. What's the T-stop of this lens?

A: The lens has a maximum aperture of F/0.95.

Q: 9. Is there any way to get this Canon RF-mount lens to use it in a EF MOUNT body like the blackmagic cinema pocket 6K ? Any speed booster or lens adaptare ?

A: Unfortunately mirrorless lenses are not able to mounted on any camera that has a DSLR mounting system. Mirrorless lenses mount much closer to the sensor than DSLR lenses do.

Q: 10. Why is it called 33 when it's really 50?

A: The focal length of the Venus Optics Laowa Argus 33mm f/0.95 CF APO Lens for Nikon Z is based on the APS-C format, which is the equivalent angle of view of a 49.5mm Lens on a full frame camera.

[Canon RF] The r5 makes manual focus so incredibly easy, I can confidently capture bride groom portraits with ease and know they're in focus. The bokeh has a vintage reminiscence to it which I absolutely love

[f/0.95] This is my first Laowa lens, but it won't be my last. I get that this is a photo lens. And that real cinema lenses have gears for motors etc, but the focus throw on this lens is so long that it makes focusing handheld (and with its shallow depth of field) a breeze.

You can break down your rig as light as possible, as I've done in the photo I've attached and use focus peaking or the manual scales on the lens to focus.

It's built incredibly well. It's all metal, but lightweight and portable, so you're inspired to take it anywhere you just want to document life as it happens around you. The focal length is a little tight on crop sensor, but I find it's the sweet spot to give just enough compression between your subject and background. There's just something about 33/35 mm lens on s35 sensors that look really good.

On the Red Komodo- X, this is about 43mm in 6k 17:9 mode. It;s also APO, which helps reduce chromatic aberration (the purple-ish/greenish fringing around edges in bright conditions). Yes there's still some, but nowhere near as much as you'd expect for an aperture around f/0.95 aperture.

The images look really good, too. For some reason, I feel like there's some barrel distortion... which I love, or maybe just some kind of 3d pop for images framed in the center. I can't explain it, but there's a lovely character to this lens.

I have an R6 Mark II, which is full frame, and this won't work without heavy vignetting on the corners since the image circle doesn't cover full frame cameras. Again, this lens is made only for crop factor (The CF on the side of the lens) cameras (aps-c and super 35,) On full frame or anything else, you'll need to use a digital tele converter or crop-in in post (which ultimately reduces resolution.)

Anyway, hope this helps someone!

[62 mm (Front)] Optically excellent even on my 60mp camera. I thought I would find F5.6 a limitation, but for macro use I have been operating at F8 to F11.
The small physical size and low weight is a big plus!
I bought Leica M mount version because with adapters I can use it on all my mirrorless cameras.

[9] for shooting northern lights this is great. this is the widest lens for fullframe sensor at F0.95 . I shoot northern lights realtime video with this baby, handheld thanks to IBIS, And even photo of northern lights , handheld - no tripod , at 1/5 sec shutter thanks to IBIS ... for portrait work the 45mm f/0.95 is probably better but for wider sky view this is a great lens .

[25mm] This little lens has really impressed me with its build quality, optical quality, and the excellent feel of both focus and aperture rings. It's a real pleasure to use (and to carry!) on a daily basis. It's easily small enough to just carry along in your bag so that you're prepared for unexpected opportunities. I honestly couldn't be more pleased with this lens.

[58.8°] I love this lens! I love the long slow focus - it makes it so much easier to get the exact focus I want. Sure, it's not fast, but that's not why I got a manual focus lens. So far, the images I'm getting from this lens are great and I look forward to getting more lenses from Venus Optics!

[APS-C] This is an incredible 2x macro lens. Laowa makes incredible lenses and this is no different.

[25mm] Not for everyone, as they say, but surprisingly good for the price for what it is. If you want it for super thin depth of field and creamy smooth bokeh you may be happy. Stopped down, sharpness is good, especially in the center. Works very well for urban scenes at night as well and keeps the ISO down. At the current price of $650 I'm very pleased, but at list of $999 maybe less so. If you want an all around 35mm there are better choices, mostly slower by a stop or more, but then with AF or at greater expense. Beautifully built as well.
