Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a taller version? I'm 6 ft. tall and the max height on this is only 5'3".

A: If you are looking for an option from Fotopro and you are looking for an option with a gimbal head, then no, they do not have a taller option. If the gimbal head is not a requirement, the Fotopro T-Roc MAX Professional Tripod, B&H # FOTROCMAX, has a maximum height of 67.3 inches, and would be the tallest option offered by Fotopro in our inventory.

Q: 2. What is the true height? Manufacture web site says 62Inch whereas B&H say's 51.5inch.

A: It is 51.5" without the center column raised and 62" with full extension.

Q: 3. Is the 63'4" height measured to the apex of the tripod, or to the top of the gimbal head?

A: The maximum height of the Fotopro E7 is taking the gimbal head into account.

Q: 4. Can this tripod be used as my primary tripod, or is it only recommended for travel use?

A: While this is primarily intended for use as a travel tripod, it might serve most photographers in other areas depending on what functions are required. It will all depend on the lens/camera combination, the duration of your exposure, the height required for viewing/shooting and the stability needed, the shooting terrain, etc. All of these and more play a part on determining whether this tripod will work for you, be it in a studio or while you're out adventuring.

Q: 5. What is Max Height without Center Column extended?

A: Just under 49 inches.

Q: 6. Can you just buy the tripod without the gimbal head?

A: This tripod is not available for sale separately.

Q: 7. Is this recommended to be used only as a travel tripod, or can it be used as my primary tripod?

A: This tripod can be used in studio just as well as for travel.

Q: 8. What tripod leg protectors fit this tripod?

A: The top leg section of this tripod has a diameter of 28mm/1.10in. The LensCoat LegCoat Wraps 107 are a good option. These are the correct diameter and cover 7 inches of length of the leg. These come in different colors. Here is a link to a set of these in Black. https://bhpho.to/3cBQS00. On this page you can select other colors and other lengths should you wish.

Q: 9. Can I flip the center column upside down to have the camera mounted under the legs for macro-photography?

A: Yes, you can reverse the center column.

Q: 10. Does this X-GO Max have built in spikes (feet) with the rubber caps that the other FotoPro tripods have?

A: Yes.

[Yes] This is one truly great tripod. I have two other tripods. One is the Manfrotto 055MF4, which is also a carbon fiber tripod. It maybe sturdy but is still somewhat heavy. The tripod alone weights 5.3 lbs. Add a decent Ball Head it would be about 10 lbs. So for non-critical photo trips I would carry a MeFoto 5-section aluminum tripod. Compare to the Manfrotto tripod the MeFoto one is lighter and shorter when fully folded . However it's not as sturdy. When the camera is mounted, the tripod legs would squat outward. Also under windy condition it vibrates. So when I saw the ad for this tripod I was somewhat skeptical. After I read all the rave reviews I decided to take a plunge. Once I received this Fofopro tripod it was love at first sight. I am really surprised how intelligent the design of this tripod is: The way the retractable center column screw head for the hook would come out, The conversion to a monopod, the reverse folding legs, the spikes that hide under the rubber boots, etc. Also I can't believe how light this Fotopro tripod is. It's even lighter than the 5-section MeFoto travel tripod. I attached my camera (D850 with 24-70, F/2.8 lens) to it and it felt solidly sturdy. It has the feel of quality material and workmanship. It's not battle tested yet, but it seems to be a winner!

[Yes] Ordered this to replace list travel tripod I purchased 12 years ago from B&H. Not only is this lighter, stronger and two inches shorter when folded than my old one, it also sets up much easier with one twist of bottom leg. I used this on recent trip and it was great. Much quicker and easier to deploy than models where each leg segment needs to be locked. The real bonus is the price which is half what I paid in 2012!!

[Yes] Very impressive for the price. Very solid and stable, easily raised and lowered. The ball head is easy to adjust and seems quite soild as well. Already used it as a monopod and love that convertible feature! The pouch for belt mounting the monopod is a thoughtful touch as well. I've been eyeing carbon fiber tripods for years, glad I took the plunge!

[Yes] This tripod is amazing! It is unbelievably compact and lightweight. It is perfect for traveling with a small, light camera, such as the Canon R10 with an RF-s lens.

It is not for heavy, full-frame cameras, or pro work. I would never use it with my full-frame battery-grip camera, and a large f2.8 lens. But that's not what it's for.

If you want an incredibly compact and lightweight travel tripod for a lightweight camera, this is it. It is awesome!

[Flip Lock] This tripod design is so well thought out. It weighs nothing, it’s sturdy and it folds down so small. The split center column is great for low shots. The ball head is really well thought out. There’s a panoramic adjustment on the clamp on top and if I adjust the ball to portrait mode and mount my 40-150 f2.8 or 100-400 lens collars on in this position I can shoot like I do with a gimbal. Saves a lot of weight and space traveling with its versatility. Love the quick deployment

[Carbon Fiber] I love this tripod because the tripod itself is very sturdy, yet lightweight. I am 5'6 tall and it suits me well without extending it completely to its limit. I would say if you're 5'9 it would still work really well for you.

The head offers a ballhead, gimbal head, and video panhead together in one. What I love most is that you can loosen the tension on the head and turn it from a smooth pan, to providing you gentle click-stops that clue you in to how much panning is needed before you take another shot. This is AWESOME for night photography especially! No guesswork on your overlapping shots anymore---you can get it just right!

I also love how lightweight this tripod is. At just over 5lbs and collapsing to about 24, it really suits me well. It's durable, no center column so I can get the legs to open up to about 90 and the feet don't fall off like on another tripod brand I've owned.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the instant level feature on the tripod that works with the head. It makes it SO much easier than adjusting the height of the legs when you need to get perfectly level.

The video panhead is awesome as well. Just the right amount of soft tension so that you can do panning without the stuttering and shake that a traditional ballhead or gimbal would give you.

I never heed to switch tripod heads again. This has solved my issues of past tripods and heads.

Lastly, you can set your head in such a way that your lens can shoot on its nodal point for multi-stitched panos---reducing the distortion that you get of traditional ball heads or gimbal heads that do not have this feature.

Great stuff. I've owned this tripod for several years and can't imagine having anything else.
