Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I mount this lens to a Lumix S5? I understand that I'll have to shoot in APSc mode, but will it physically connect and operate?

A: No, this lens will not go on the Lumix S5 because the camera has a Leica L mount and the lens has an MFT mount.

Q: 2. Does the lens provide exif data to the Sony?

A: This lens does not pass-though lens data to the camera.

Q: 3. Which mount is needed for a canon 80d/90d ?

A: this is an MFT mount lens, the cameras you mentioned are Canon EF mount cameras, they would require a canon EF mount Lens

Q: 4. With the MFT mount do you still get a Super35 image area?

A: The Sirui 50mm f/1.8 Anamorphic 1.33x Lens (MFT Mount) with it's MFT mount covers Super35/APS-C sensors.

Q: 5. Will the HDMI output on BMPCC 4K show desqueezed image?

A: Yes, the camera has support for Blackmagic Raw 4:3 2880 x 2160 (2.8K) anamorphic options with 2x and 1.33x de-squeeze preview functions.

Q: 6. Is the image circle 43mm? (same as the 85?)

A: Vazen has not provided an exact measurement for the image circle on their 50mm T2.1 1.8x Full-Frame Anamorphic Lens, but it does cover RED Open Gate and Alexa LF Open Gate. Therefore, it is at least 46.31mm.

Q: 7. Does this lens have a de-clicked aperture ring?

A: Yes it does.

Q: 8. I hear this lens has a blue color cast, will that be a big issue if I use auto white balance?

A: This lens produces very desirable anamorphic blue flares (streaks) These artifacts are utilized most famously by the director J.J. Abrams. It does not create an undesirable blue cast that covers the entire frame.

Q: 9. If i use the metabones EF-m43 mount speed booster with a gh5 and this lens Sirui 50mm with ef mount with it still work correctly?

A: Because there is no current 50mm model of the Sirui 50mm f/1.8 Anamorphic 1.33x Lens with a Canon EF mount, this combination cannot be made. There is currently no EF-M to MFT speed booster, in regards to the EF-M version of the Sirui 50mm f/1.8 Anamorphic 1.33x Lens.

Q: 10. Does the anamorphic squeeze affect the lens focal length on full frame?

A: No, the anamorphic squeeze does not affect the lens' focal length on a full frame sensor.

[82 mm x 0.75] After reading the review in NewsShooter I thought I'd give these a go. They are my first anamorphic lenses (usually so expensive).

Even though I'm using this on my URSA Mini (super 35) with PL mount, the image captured is lovely - probably the sweet spot of the lens. It's full of character, but not too much. Sharp enough, but not clinical. The mechanics feel good and smooth build quality is solid.

They are quite a nice wide anamorphic 1.8x squeeze. For some recordings of the landscape in our valley, I wanted to capture a full panoramic. So recording to the full sensor (16:9) and then de-squeezing without cropping I ended up with a 3.3:1 panoramic. Obviously I won't be delivering a commercial project in that aspect ratio, but for my home recordings it's lovely to see such a vista captured in one shot.

I can highly recommend.

[1.8x] image rendered so great. with Bmcc6k full frame camera has a bit vignette, but if scale up the clip like 1.1x in davinci resolve can get rid of vignette.and I can live with that. With sigma MC-21 adapter is enoght tight to not worry abot it.

[1.8x] This lens looks great, has interesting flares and has character up the wazoo. I love the distortion of this lens. It may be my PL mount, but the lens is a bit too soft at the moment at distances past 10 meters, and I'll have it checked out soon at a rental house with focus charts. Besides that, so amazing!

[T22] I bought a set of Viltrox anamorphic lenses, which are amazing, but I wanted something smaller and lighter for my FX6/Ronin 4D. These Blazar lenses are a lot of fun. I only have the 65 so far, which I find wide enough for most situations without having the issues in the corners that the 45 had. Waiting to try out their new ones, I just need something slightly wider and another slightly tighter. Waiting to hear what they say about the new additions.

[Blue] Excellent value! Just make sure to buy a 82mm close-up vivitar lens set as well as it will make this lens a lot more useful and also mitigate some of its weaker points. Weight is great as well. Overall this is a very good mix of Anamorphic bliss for full frame sensors and image quality especially when you want flares a little more controlled. I'm using it with the Red V-Raptor VV.

[T2.9] First off. These have to be one of the best budget anamorphics you can get your hands on as of early 2024.

My only small grip is the inconsistent squeeze factor on the 50mm. If you know that it's easy to compensate in post but I would feel a little weary handing off footage from the 50mm lens.

As for the 35mm, I really love how large the FOV is. On the flip side you have to get a subject very close to really feel the anamorphic stuff but outside of that is a very useful focal length

As an owner op these are WELL worth your money

[82 mm x 0.75] Blazar nailed this and no its not a perfect lens... but for under a grand ITS INSANE that a TINY and LIght-weight anamorphic getting you that old panavision c-d series aesthetic but you can actually own these. Are they 2x no obviously not - My Gemini is 30x18mm (rounded) and on 4 perf S35 ie larger S35 chips like my Red Gemini this Lens is a DREAM... Its definitely soft wide open as most vintage anamorphics are and has some CA and flaws but they are very organic... and although the squeeze isnt 2x the Bokeh are CLEARLY oval and the blue streaks (got the blue streak PL ) are great... I always think you need to see how SMALL they are to believe it I dont need a support on My Gemini or when using the FF on my Eos r5. I cant wait for rest have 100 and Hoping the 85 comes soon and then the 33mm FF But this one is a must if you can only buy one.
