[T2.9] I've been re-using my existing photo primes with my video camera, but when I discovered anamorphic I immediately knew that I must have one -- I love that look. So this has been my first dedicated cinema lens -- that is, not something that was originally meant for still photos.

Since I don't have other cinema lenses yet, I can't say how this compares to others. But I can definitely say that it's a dramatic difference from photo lenses! The size is impressive, and the adjustment rings are far more useful to me than anything I've used before. I'm looking forward to adding follow-focus.

I think the 1.3x ratio is probably just a bit less impressive than the exaggerated effect that I was perhaps hoping for, but nonetheless it still looks great -- especially for the price.


All in all, I am very satisfied with the purchase.

[Full Frame] This lens is awesome, and produces clean images with real cinematic effects. I have the entire set (35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, 135mm, 150mm plus the 1.25 adapter that produces a 2x squeeze when paired with the 1.6x anamorphic squeeze of the lenses). The lenses produce uniform colors all throughout the set, and images are sharp wide open at T2.9. Somehow SIRUI has managed to make these primes sharp wide open, but not too sharp, given you that movie like look without any diffusion filters on the front of your lens. If you haven't tried the anamorphic look, you have no idea what your projects are missing. As result of purchasing this set, my G Masters and spherical Cine primes are collecting dust. The SIRUI 1.6x T 2.9 Venus Anamorphic lenses are a great set of glass.

[Full Frame] Alright, this is my first anamorphic and cinema lens. I went back and forth for about a year on what would be my first cinema lens and i went this route based on the few videos i have seen on youtube. I'm not a professional in the filmmaking world (trying though) however I know quality and art when I see it. There's not a lot of info on these, and after figuring out how to monitor them correctly, and color grade the footage (I have a canon r5c and use final cut to grade them) I tossed it up on my big screen TV and was shook... i dont know if BH will take this down but here is some test footage and a quick color grading.

[Full Frame] This thing is sharp at t2 which is not common amongst anamorphic lenses. Paired with a z cam e2, black magic 4K or GH5 and you have a killer anamorphic setup for an affordable price. Well built and a ton of fun to use.

[4.065 lb] Excellent value! Just make sure to buy a 82mm close-up vivitar lens set as well as it will make this lens a lot more useful and also mitigate some of its weaker points. Weight is great as well. Overall this is a very good mix of Anamorphic bliss for full frame sensors and image quality especially when you want flares a little more controlled. I'm using it with the Red V-Raptor VV.

[82 mm x 0.75] Just shot a very low light concert with this lens and wow, really looks amazing.

[Canon RF] After reading the review in NewsShooter I thought I'd give these a go. They are my first anamorphic lenses (usually so expensive).


Even though I'm using this on my URSA Mini (super 35) with PL mount, the image captured is lovely - probably the sweet spot of the lens. It's full of character, but not too much. Sharp enough, but not clinical. The mechanics feel good and smooth build quality is solid.


They are quite a nice wide anamorphic 1.8x squeeze. For some recordings of the landscape in our valley, I wanted to capture a full panoramic. So recording to the full sensor (16:9) and then de-squeezing without cropping I ended up with a 3.3:1 panoramic. Obviously I won't be delivering a commercial project in that aspect ratio, but for my home recordings it's lovely to see such a vista captured in one shot.


I can highly recommend.

[82 mm x 0.75] image rendered so great. with Bmcc6k full frame camera has a bit vignette, but if scale up the clip like 1.1x in davinci resolve can get rid of vignette.and I can live with that. With sigma MC-21 adapter is enoght tight to not worry abot it.

[4.065 lb] This lens is nothing short of amazing. Sharp - even wide open, at 2.8/4 you wouldn’t want the image any sharper.
Flare is beautiful, squeeze and bokeh looks amazing...
A real anamorphic lens for this price - paired with a Blackmagic pocket 4K - it’s an amazing combo ! My favorite - personally.
