The Tiffen 95mm Coarse Thread Pro-Mist 2 Filterhelps to reduce the value of the highlights while noticeably lowering the overall contrast. This filter is especially useful for smoothing out and softening facial wrinkles and other blemishes. While designed for use with movies, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or soft focus filter, Pro-Mist filters provide little loss of detail across the image. The 2 density provides more contrast and highlight reduction than the 1, but less than the 3, while also allowing for a soft, pastel-like quality of light.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

A: I've been using this type of pinch cap for a long time. They snap into place on the filter thread at the front of the lens. As long as you match the filter thread diameter to the diameter of this cap it will work. The Sensei brand being carried by B&H Photo is a good quality cap, well worth the inexpensive price in my book. Provides much more protection for the front of a lens than the lens hoods so many people feel comfortable relying upon.

[Aluminum] I bought this filter to photograph my daughters and friends at their martial arts school. The lights are fluorescent. The floors have bright blue & red padded mats that reflect off the white uniforms. Sometimes a white uniform will even appear pink in a photo. This polarizing filter significantly reduces, if not totally eliminates, this unhelpful reflections from the brightly-colored floor mats while only having to step down 1 stop. I highly recommend this filter to eliminate unwanted reflected light from bright colored backgrounds and objects in or out of frame. 5

[Aluminum] For years I have used Tiffen filters on all my lenses. Over the past 4 years they have saved me thousands of dollars by protecting my lenses. While putting my camera on a tripod I did not get it as secure as I thought and my camera fell off the tripod. I know it was stupid, but I tend to focus more on what I am trying to photograph rather than my equipment. On two separate occasions the camera fell to the ground, once on a concrete floor. Both times the camera landed on the front of the lenses breading the glass in the filter. Fortunately for me the filters absorbed the brunt of the impact. I removed the broken filters and continued my photo shoot. Once I had to change lenses until I could get some tools to remove the filter because it was bent making it too tight to remove by hand. In addition, I like to keep my lenses clean. I find it protects the expensive coatings on my Nikon lenses. I would rather clean a filter than be constantly rubbing chemicals on the front element of my lenses. 5
