Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are the turning knobs plastic? Can't decide between this one or the Avenger and this might be the deciding factor.

A: The knobs are plastic.

Q: 2. I'm not quite understanding what is in the description, so one kit processes 8 rolls of film? Also, it's just one chemical? How?

A: You can use the CineStill Film JOBO MONO Film Processing Kit for all your rolls. However, the CineStill Film DF96 Monobath for Black & White Film (Liquid, 530mL) that is included in the kit can process only up to 8 rolls. Yes, the DF96 Monobath is only one chemical that will process black and white film.

Q: 3. Is this strictly 4x5, or could it handle the 3.25x4.25 format? (And if not, any recommendations for what the best solution is for that size?)

A: This will only work with 4x5 film.

Q: 4. Does this work with double sided emulsions like xray film?

A: The Stearman Press SP-445 Compact 4 x 5" Film Processing System (4 Sheet) has not been tested with double-sided emulsion film.

Q: 5. How would it compare to Blackmagic Ultimatte 12 ?

A: They are very similar in capabilities. One thing that is worth mentioning is that Blackmagic is known for their excellent software and integration with their other products.

Q: 6. What's the difference between this and the 420B Combi-Stand?

A: The 420B includes the sandbag and the 420NSB does not come with the sandbag. You would need a sandbag to act as a counter weight when extending the boom arm.

Q: 9. Compared to the 420B, apart from lacking a sandbag, is this also a less robust stand? I notice the maximum load is lower for the 420SNB.

A: The Manfrotto 420B, B&H # MA420B and the 420NSB are the same stand, with the latter not including the empty sandbag.

Q: 10. What is the latency of this device? In other words how much will the output video signal be behind the input signal from the camera?

A: Datavideo says - The theorem path delay of DVK-400's SDI IN to SDI OUT is less than 10 scan lines, but the actual delay can be 10 scan lines ~ 1 frame influenced by frame synchronizer and Genlock feature. This would be the same for INPUT and OUTPUT.

[Optional ] I'm new to developing my own film so any help I can get from things like this Thermometer is very much appreciated. I've never seen a thermometer take a reading so quickly. I've used it to check my developer temp for a couple weeks now and it's been perfect every time at quickly giving me the temperature.

[Optional ] I had been using the paterson glass thermometer which worked great for about a year but the inevitable happened and I broke it. Knowing my clumsiness, I purchased this one made of stainless steel and for my purpose of developing film I actually think this is better. I can attach the included clip and let it sit in the bottle as I heat up my chemicals and the large number dial makes it easy to read. Previously I had to dip the glass thermometer and keep going back to check it. Really happy with this purchase.

[Optional ] I use this to get the temperature to process C-41 film. It developed the film pretty good so I'm guessing this is accurate. Easy to use, although I don't like using the handle it comes with because it just gets in the way.
