The Matthews Baby Grid Clamp is made to clamp securely on overhead grids, car rigs, or camera car rails for the mounting of light fixtures.

The clamp can be inverted with the pin mounting onto a grip head for spanning pipe between two stands. It will grip pipes with a minimum diameter of 1 1/4" and a maximum diameter of 1 1/2".

A: The Matthews Baby Double Header is 24, and is designed to allow for up to 4 objects to be mounted on it.

A: No, the 5/8 stud on the top of the Matthews Telescopic Baby Stand Extension does not have threads.

Q: 3. Does this affect the payload capacity of a stand since it increases the height? I.e. if the max payload is 5kg for a stand

A: This would depend on the stand this is being used on. If we are using a strong stand such as a C Stand or Stronger like a Combo Stand then this extension would have no affect on Load Capacity. However if we are using a simple aluminum stand which already has a low Load Capacity of 5kg then it would affect the overall Payload of the stand. It would cause the payload to sway which may cause the stand to tip over. If you need the extra height then it would be better to use a lower payload than what the stand was rated for or use Sand Bags on the bottom of the stand to increase stability.

Q: 4. Support weight?

A: Yes. Not sure how much you want to support. I actually use mine to support the ends of a full size 4' slider when it is on a dolly. So it is partially supporting a 2575 head and full Alexa package.

A: If looking to bolt the plate into the ceiling, you may only do so by using a separate baby plate like the Matthews Baby Plate - 3 B&H # MABP3 with this extension.

Q: 6. If this extension is used to connect a tether table to a runway stand base, will the setup be sturdy enough to use a laptop safely or will the whole thing be too wobbly?

A: It will be too wobbly

A: This product has a 9" long central support bar, which will be the width.

Q: 9. Can this clamp down small enough for a 15mm rod?

A: It will bite the 15mm rod but will not hold this dimension securely, better off using a 2.5" grip head or a Matthellini clamp.

Q: 10. Do these come with wedge inserts? Does Mathewsake wedge inserts?

A: It does not include wedge inserts or any baby pins. The build quality and fit/finish are superior to the Manfrotto version that I also own which do include those. You can purchase inserts as well as a plethora of pins with various thread types and sizes.
