Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use a Sanken COS-11D with a Zoom FX3 using this adapter?

A: Yes, a Sanken COS-11D Lavalier Microphone that has a 3.5mm TRS connector can be used with the Zoom F3 Portable Field Recorder when connected with an adapter like the RODE VXLR Pro Transformer-Balanced 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom-Power Converter or the RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (B&H # ROVXLRP). You will need to turn on phantom power on F3 to power the mic.

Q: 2. Will the Lav mic came with the "Sennheiser G3" work with the "Rode VXLR PRO" when connecting to a mixer-recorder such as the MixPre ? Does it accept the screw lock from the "G3's lav" TRS connector? Thank you for the answers.

A: Yes, the Rode VXLR PRO adapter can be used with a Sennheiser lavalier microphone to enable connection to an XLR mic input on a mixer/recorder such as a Sound Devices MixPre model. The VXLR PRO has a threaded female 3.5mm TRS connector on one side to attach the mic and a male XLR connector on the other end allows the mic to be plugged into an XLR input. Additionally, the adapter converts 48V phantom power into plug-in power so you can safely provide power to the mic.

Q: 3. Can the RODE VXLR Pro also be used to connect an unbalanced 3.5mm mic to the Phantom-Powered XLR connector?

A: No. It would need to be a 3.5mm TRS connection microphone that requires mic plugin power to be able to work with phantom power and the Rode VXLR Pro.

Q: 4. Will this work w/ Sony PXW-Z90V? I dont understand the whole power converter thing

A: Yes the Saramonic C-XLR+ will connect to a mic input on the Sony PXW-Z90V.

Q: 5. Will it work with my Rode Rodelink filmmaker kit and my Zoom H6?

A: Yes it. will.

Q: 6. Will this work to connect a Deity V.Lav mic to the XLR input on a Zoom H6?

A: Yes it wll.

Q: 7. What happens to the -20 safety channel when the Rode VideoMic NTG is used with this "balanced" adapter?

A: When used with a standard unbalanced 3.5mm microphone cable, the Rode VXLR Pro's extra pin (used for inverted polarity audio signal in balanced devices) would be inert, but unbalanced audio is still passed through the balanced connection.

Q: 8. Does this come with a counterweight?

A: It uses springs for the counterweight (it already comes with one)

Q: 9. Does this work with Sennheiser MKE2 mics?

A: Yes it will

Q: 10. Does B&H sell a locking make 3.5trs to non-locking 3.5trs short cable, as this will be ideal for connecting this adapter to my preferred mic and maximizing connection integrity, at least on the adapter side. Thank you.

A: No. A locking 3.5mm male TRS to a "non-locking" 3.5mm female TRS would be as special order, made to order from a specialty shop, such as Whirlwind. B&H could order for you$$.....

[Yes] Not much to say other than it's a standard XLR cable. I bought it to connect my podcasting mic to an audio interface, and it felt nice and secure on both ends when I plugged it in. Even though it only connects things from one side of my desk to another, in retrospect I would've gone a length or two up rather than pick the 5' option.

[Yes] Don't know about those of you reading this review, but I've had a hard time finding shorter XLR mic cable. Decent quality for Hosa as usual...

[Black] I needed a short, reliable, good sounding cable for my very confined PA system. Because I have my single speaker very close to me, and keep my 2 channel mixer on my mic stand, I don't need allot of cables cluttering up the visual as I stand in front of very close audiences. This cable is the perfect length for this setup. No extra coils!

[Yes] I needed a couple of short XLRs to use between the lavalier, the Marantz, and the shotgun mic. Nice design, with little hum or low noise. Great value, just what I needed.

[Neutrik] I use this as just a patch cord form a studio mic to my mixer for podcasting and it works great.
