Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How does this differ from the VXLR+?

A: Both the VXLR+ and VXLR Pro are 3.5mm TRS female to XLR male adapters with a phantom power converter that can convert 12 to 48V phantom power down to 3 to 5V plug-in power. The VXLR Pro differs from the VXLR+ because it also provides a transformer-balanced output which preserves the signal quality and prevents it from degrading when using a long cable run.

Q: 2. I'd like to connect my on cam cold-shoe shotgun mic (sennheiser, takes AAA) to audio mixer (zoom F4). Is this what I'm looking for?

A: You can use that but it isn't necessary. You can use a simpler adapter like B&H # KOAXMMF or B&H # ROVXLRB&H # ROVXLR

Q: 3. Will the Lav mic came with the "Sennheiser G3" work with the "Rode VXLR PRO" when connecting to a mixer-recorder such as the MixPre ? Does it accept the screw lock from the "G3's lav" TRS connector? Thank you for the answers.

A: Yes, the Rode VXLR PRO adapter can be used with a Sennheiser lavalier microphone to enable connection to an XLR mic input on a mixer/recorder such as a Sound Devices MixPre model. The VXLR PRO has a threaded female 3.5mm TRS connector on one side to attach the mic and a male XLR connector on the other end allows the mic to be plugged into an XLR input. Additionally, the adapter converts 48V phantom power into plug-in power so you can safely provide power to the mic.

Q: 4. Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Mic With a Sennheiser 3.5 EW connector work properly with this adapter please?

A: My previous answer may be inaccurate. Some COS-11D microphones are 48V Phantom and some are +3V to +10V. You will need to determine the power requirements of your microphone. The VXLR Plus provides 5 Volts.

Q: 5. If I am wanting to connect a Sennheiser Lavalier 3.5mm directly to my Zoom F3, should I get the VXLR or VXLR+?

A: Since the Sennheiser lavalier mic requires a small amount of voltage, you can either use the RODE VXLR Pro Transformer-Balanced 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom-Power Converter or the RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (B&H # ROVXLRP), which both have a built-in phantom power converter that allows you to use phantom power from an XLR mic input and converts it to the proper amount of plug-in power that the mic requires. The RODE VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter (B&H # ROVXLR) does not work in the same manner and will only converts the plug for the microphone from 3.5mm to XLR, but it will not convert phantom power to plug-in power.

Q: 6. I bought this to use with Tascam DR-40 and Audio Technica AT8024. The input level is too low for recording even with maxed out preamp level. How do I use this combo? Is this adapter right for AT8024?

A: The Tascam DR-40 only accept mic level devices via its XLR inputs. This adapter is incorrect. To connect the AT8024 in mono to the recorder, you would require an XLR adapter such as the Kopul A-XMMF. To use the mic in stereo, you will need a stereo mini to dual XLR Y cable such as the Kopul SMYC-M2XM06 and then an additional 3.5mm stereo turnaround adapter to connect to the mic. See the Hosa Technology GMM303.

Q: 7. Will this work to connect a Deity V.Lav mic to the XLR input on a Zoom H6?

A: Yes it wll.

Q: 8. Will it work with my Rode Rodelink filmmaker kit and my Zoom H6?

A: Yes it. will.

Q: 9. Can this be used as an adapter for PA's or DJ's desks into a XLR input on a recorder?

A: The Rode VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter is typically used to adapt microphones with 3.5mm wiring to XLR inputs, however this adapter could presumably work in the same manner with a line level 3.5mm connection from a DJ deck into a line level XLR input on a recorder.

Q: 10. Will this work w/ Sony PXW-Z90V? I dont understand the whole power converter thing

A: Yes the Saramonic C-XLR+ will connect to a mic input on the Sony PXW-Z90V.

[1.2 lb] I use this cables for microphones and Links from speaker to speaker , like any wire no matter how expensive they are , are not meant to tow or pull a car , just take care of them & will give you good years of service and for this price you should get a few.

[20 AWG] For a few dollars more, you get metal XLR's instead of plastic. With as much as these get stepped-on, the price is more than worth it.

[Black] I needed a short, reliable, good sounding cable for my very confined PA system. Because I have my single speaker very close to me, and keep my 2 channel mixer on my mic stand, I don't need allot of cables cluttering up the visual as I stand in front of very close audiences. This cable is the perfect length for this setup. No extra coils!

[20 AWG] I am using these in my club for on stage microphones. For the low price, the cables are great. The locking connector doesn't wobble in the mics at all. Outer coating is durable. They work well with our mics.

[Yes] Not much to say other than it's a standard XLR cable. I bought it to connect my podcasting mic to an audio interface, and it felt nice and secure on both ends when I plugged it in. Even though it only connects things from one side of my desk to another, in retrospect I would've gone a length or two up rather than pick the 5' option.
