Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. In terms of the size of the pouches, how does this Womens Digital Vest compare to the Newswear Womens Medium Chestvest?

A: Both have the same amount of pouches. The Medium version has two longer pouches and two smaller ones. And the Womens Digital Chestvest has one long and the three smaller ones. They are very similar but the Digital can hold telephoto lenses like the Nikon 80-200mm zoom or the Canon 70-200mm lens (without lens shade attached). And the Medium can hold most telephoto lenses like the Nikon 80-200mm zoom lens and the 300mm F4 as well as the Canon 70-200mm zoom lens and the Canon 300mm F4 telephoto.

Q: 2. Having migrated from large Nikon bodies and lenses to a Fuji Xe2 with 18-55, 55-200, 14mm,23mm,35mm,60mm I am wondering which Newswear would better fit my needs. I am looking at the documentary and the medium. Not having any experience with this product perhaps you can steer me in the right direction.I teach photography and find myself involved with all kinds of image making. Hiking, street photography, etc. Thanks,Elliot Stern

A: I think that the Newswear Mens Documentary Chestvest will be a better choice for your equipment, as the Medium size Chestvest is more accommodating for longer lenses rather than small primes such as those in your arsenal of equipment.

Q: 3. Will you be stocking the Newswear Women's Foul Weather Waterproof Digital Chestvest anytime soon?

A: Yes, we will be selling the Newswear Women's Foul Weather Waterproof Digital Chestvest, see product code NEWFWDCVBLK.

Q: 4. Will this short poncho work with nikkor 300mm 2.8 vr2 + tc1.7?

A: This short poncho will work with the 300mm f/2.8 VR II, however with the added length of the teleconverter, this lens poncho will be too short.

Q: 5. I'm looking for the best option for me (mens documentary chestvest or Mens Digital Chestvest). I always carry two bodies MIII and X1, 3 lenses 24-70, 70-200, 17-55. Im a photojournalist. Which one is the best for me?

A: I would recommend the Digital Chestvest for your needs.

Q: 6. Does the eye piece fits any camera ? d600 ?How is the material compared to aqua tech or lenscoat raincoat ?

A: This Rain Poncho fits the the D4, D800E, D800, D3, D3x, D3s, D700, D2x, D2H with a Nikon Wide Angle lens, 70-200mm f/2.8 or 300mm f/2.8 telephoto Lens. Unfortunately, it will not fit the Nikon D600. The material is waterproof nylon and is similar to Aquatech and Lenscoat.

Q: 7. I have a canon 7d mark ii with grip, will my camera body enter the first compartment intended for camera bodies?

A: It will be too small for the Canon 7D with grip you will need the larger size vest: https://bhpho.to/2VugXDL

Q: 8. I have a Nikkor 20-500mm telephoto lens and am wondering if this will hold it. I also have a kit and wide-angle lens, so the problem is if I switch to one of them what do I do with the Nikkor? I only have one camera body, so the holster systems I have seen are useless. The backpack I use carries all the lenses, but is to bulky. Thank you for your help!

A: Not sure if one that large will fit, Ive fit my canon 72-200 fine, but not sure how those 2 compare

Q: 9. Is this modular? Can I remove some of the pouches and keep just two pouches with the harness and belt? Thanks

A: The Newswear Men's Documentary Chestvest is not modular; you can't remove some of the pockets.

Q: 10. Will this pouch fit my Tamron 16300 lens with lens hood reversed? Thanks, Blair

A: I'm not quite sure because I don't have a Tamron 18-300 lens dimensions = 2.95 x 3.92 (75 x 99.5 mm), but I tested the pouch with my Nikon 18-140 lens dimensions = 3.07 x 3.82 (78 x 97 mm) and the pouch fitted the lens with the lens hood reversed.I bought my Lens Pouch (Medium Wide, Black) for protecting my Tokina 11-16 lens (in this case, the lens hood fits outside the pouch).

[1.25 lb] Is it a bag? Is it a belt? Whatever, it's wonderful. It gives you good freedom of movement, your gear is not likely to fall out and your body doesn't ache as much it might with other solutions.

Yes, you will sweat under it. Yes, it's kind of military-looking. ('Cause those guys know how to carry stuff, I guess?)

And yes, it shares the same major failing as all camera bags - 15 pounds of gear still weighs - 15 pounds! For some reason, every bag I've ever had, from my 1977 second-batch Domke onwards, has had that issue.

I've had my Newswear bag for many years. So long I think it was a prototype, actually. On a lark, I just looked here and I'm thrilled to see the brand going strong.

[1.25 lb] i've worn the Newswear in the front. I was out for 10hrs and never had to take it of. A friend who goes out with to photography noticed that unlike other bags I wasn't taking it off or adjusting it. unlike using other backpacks or slings bags I don't ache or feel sore the next day. I wished that I had found this at least 3 bags earlier. i recommended it to a friend who's purchased it as well. I can't stop telling other photographers about it.

[1.25 lb] This is the best way to carry your gear in numerous different situations. I'm currently a photojournalist student after freelancing for a couple years and have 5 different bags to show for it. The Newswear is the BEST solution. If you're not in action, it can be carried like a shoulder bag, without the bulk and hugs your body. Although the straps are not padded, I've never carried so much gear so comfortably. You can also easily drive with it on. Great for transporting all your gear if you have a 1 cam system. Great for wearing/carrying all your gear with a 2 cam system and one body is tucked away. The body pocket is big enough for a D4 and my sync cable with room to spare. You can totally hold two prosumer bodies without their grips as well. I've also carried my gripped d800 WITH a small prime on it (AF-D models) in that pocket. The telephoto pocket is roomy for my 70-200mm 2.8. One of the two side pockets are big enough to carry two SB-910 flashes when they're L-shaped. The other pocket can carry my 16-35mm f/4 AND my 24-70mm without hoods on their sides. I've also shoved my Tascam DR-40 and a Rode Mic in their. Meaning, this works great for visual journalist. I accidentally purchased the small press pouch. I did want a second pouch for my headphones but the press pouch is for a belt system than the chestvest. All told, I love it. Each pocket has a flap pocket for cleaning cloths, batteries, notebooks, pens, phone, business cards, memory cards... you get the idea. I look forward to memorizing where everything is as this system is built for speed.

[1.25 lb] I was looking for something easier to carry additional equipment when shooting sports photography assignments. I ran into a friend who shoots for Getty Images at a college game we were both covering. After looking this over and getting his opinion of it, I purchased this from B&H after looking for it on several other sites due to pricing and availability. It is great for hauling extra gear-batteries, lens, body, flash head, LED light and doesn't get in the way when filled with the gear.

[1.25 lb] I just love this vest. The pockets are varied in size and perfect for needed accessories and the large pocket is big enough for my backup camera a mirrorless body with a small lens. When I wear the vest, I can easily get what I need unlike my backpack which I have to take off, or my sling bag which I have to reposition in order to reach inside. It's an intelligent design, comfortable, and very well made. And because it is completely adjustable, the vest will work in the winter over a bulky down jacket, and in the summer.

[1.25 lb] This was recommended strongly by a friend. My was delivered the day before an 8 day trip to Haiti where I knew I needed to carry my stuff around pretty much all day every day. This vest worked perfectly for me. Took about 1 minute to adjust the straps, the pockets fit my lenses well, extra room for batteries and such, even carried sunblock and bug spray in one pocket. The only thing I might do is trim a couple inches off the front velcro straps because on my frame they're a bit long and I folded them down on themselves so they weren't flopping around. This is nothing to do with workmanship or design though, so no complaints from me. I think I'll be using this vest quite often.

[1.25 lb] This was exactly what I needed! I'm a small female photographer, around 5'5' 130 pounds. I was worried it would be too big, but it's all adjustable and fit well. I use to have a big messenger style bag I would carry around with me to change lens etc - but this was great to just have everything I need strapped to me! It held my body, 2 lens, batteries and cards! You could technically fit 3 lens if you carried the body around your neck. Very happy with this purchase, makes shoots much easier!

[1.25 lb] The Newswear Documentary Chestvest was a game changer when I recently photographed two days of pro cycling. I wore it without any discomfort for more than 8 hours each day in 90+ degree weather and was able to fit everything I needed with space to spare. My kit for the weekend included 2 bodies, 4 lenses, 1 flash, extra batteries and SD cards, sun screen, and some snack items.

What I loved: I was able to sit comfortably while wearing the vest meaning I didn't have to take it off to get in a car or eat a meal. The adjustable strap system adjusts to be a perfect fit to any body size.

What I wish it had but didn't: Having D-shaped hanging loops on the suspender straps would be a great addition, allowing the user to connect camera bodies (outfitted with short straps) to the vest straps to eliminate the need for separate camera straps or a Black Rapid-like sling.
