Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the purpose of the two plastic sliders on each of the shoulder straps?

A: The straps are adjustable.

Q: 2. What are the dimensions of each pocket? Size wise, how does it compare to the Documentary Chestvest? & it is waterproof ( like the Doco version)

A: Dimensions: Two Side Pockets - 5 1/2" inches wide, 6" inches high, 3" inches deep Two Center Pockets- 5 1/2" inches wide, 9.5" inches high, 3" inches deep Exterior Dimensions- 26" inches wide, 10.5" inches high, 3" inches deep It is water resistant. That means that in a rainstorm the gear inside will stay dry during 30 minutes of constant rain. Not longer. For full waterproof, see Mens Foulweather Digital Chestvest.

Q: 3. Am considering this bag for wildlife photography. Are the flaps held down by Velcro? Like the look of the product, but am concerned about noise.

A: Yes. The flaps are held down with velcro and they open loudly. When I shoot wedding ceremonies, I keep the flaps open by folding them back and tucking them in between the pocket and my body. This works for eliminating the noise but opens up the lenses to the elements if you're outside.

Q: 4. Will this fit the nikon z50 with both kit lenses (16-50,50-250) ? (The small bag)

A: Yes, a Nikon Z50 with the Z 16-50mm and the Z 50-250mm lenses will fit in this VEO RANGE 21M Bag.

Q: 5. I am wondering whether the compartments are lightly padded?

A: Not really. The material is a nice thickness, but is not padded

Q: 6. I'm looking for the best option for me (mens documentary chestvest or Mens Digital Chestvest). I always carry two bodies MIII and X1, 3 lenses 24-70, 70-200, 17-55. Im a photojournalist. Which one is the best for me?

A: I would recommend the Digital Chestvest for your needs.

Q: 7. Will it fit an Olympus E-M1X?

A: Yes. This should fit an Olympus E-M1X.

Q: 8. Will both straps go over the right shoulder? I have a pacemaker on my left side and any straps over the left shoulder with chaff again the pacemaker.

A: This is a great vest and very adaptable---I just tried it on like this and because the shoulder straps adjust you can do it and feels fine. The waist strap you could also cinch up so the hips would take a little more weight. It could be that the pulled over strap would come up to high on the neck, so i would maybe sew up the strap against the regular fitting side just lower off the shoulder and more onto the chest. You could also try crossing the straps across the front instead on the back where they are designed to cross over----all in all, I think you make it work fine. Good luck.

Q: 9. I have a canon 7d mark ii with grip, will my camera body enter the first compartment intended for camera bodies?

A: It will be too small for the Canon 7D with grip you will need the larger size vest: https://bhpho.to/2VugXDL

Q: 10. Does Newswear make a women's foul weather digital chestvest? I see a men's version but not a women's. (Which is troubling.) Also, it's not clear from this picture whether there is also a waist strap, or if you have to have the chest straps on at all times. Is there a waist-only strap option?

A: Yes, Newswear does make a women's foul weather chestvest but I purchased the one shown here almost two years ago (not listed as foul weather ) and it's some of the best money I've spent on photo accessories! I always use it when I'm in the field and I've had it in the elements in Yellowstone in Jan and Feb, in the sand dunes in Death Valley and out in the rain - never had a single issue with it.It does have a waist strap in addition to the shoulder straps. The straps are all adjustable and I carry lots of gear in it (70-200mm lens, filters, etc). It's much better on my back than a backpack and I'm 5'7', 120 lbs. I don't think they make a waist strap only option and the shoulder straps cannot be removed (they are sewn in at one end). To me, the shoulder straps help distribute the weight of all the gear more evenly than just around the waist. But you could just fold down the shoulder straps and use the waist strap if you wanted to.If and when this wears out, I will purchase another Newswear Chestvest!! Hope this helps.

[1.3 lb] This was exactly what I needed! I'm a small female photographer, around 5'5' 130 pounds. I was worried it would be too big, but it's all adjustable and fit well. I use to have a big messenger style bag I would carry around with me to change lens etc - but this was great to just have everything I need strapped to me! It held my body, 2 lens, batteries and cards! You could technically fit 3 lens if you carried the body around your neck. Very happy with this purchase, makes shoots much easier!

[1.3 lb] The Newswear Documentary Chestvest was a game changer when I recently photographed two days of pro cycling. I wore it without any discomfort for more than 8 hours each day in 90+ degree weather and was able to fit everything I needed with space to spare. My kit for the weekend included 2 bodies, 4 lenses, 1 flash, extra batteries and SD cards, sun screen, and some snack items.

What I loved: I was able to sit comfortably while wearing the vest meaning I didn't have to take it off to get in a car or eat a meal. The adjustable strap system adjusts to be a perfect fit to any body size.

What I wish it had but didn't: Having D-shaped hanging loops on the suspender straps would be a great addition, allowing the user to connect camera bodies (outfitted with short straps) to the vest straps to eliminate the need for separate camera straps or a Black Rapid-like sling.

[1.3 lb] I was looking for something easier to carry additional equipment when shooting sports photography assignments. I ran into a friend who shoots for Getty Images at a college game we were both covering. After looking this over and getting his opinion of it, I purchased this from B&H after looking for it on several other sites due to pricing and availability. It is great for hauling extra gear-batteries, lens, body, flash head, LED light and doesn't get in the way when filled with the gear.

[1.3 lb] Carrying my big backpact is not always practical. If I'm on location or know what I'm going to be shooting, this allows me to easily carry a couple of lenes plus accessories. Great for landscape and nightsky shots where the setup is a few hundred meters to a few kilometers from the car.

[1.3 lb] I have been wishing for something like this for years. The Chestvest allows one to carry extra things on an airplane without taking up the under seat space or the overhead bin.

For a recent trip, it was home to 2 sets of Rode Lavalier microphones, an extra lens, spare batteries, an ND filter, two camera lights, business cards, passport, a fold-up white balance disc, memory cares, a 1 Tbyte solid disk drive, and more. This gave me more room in my backpack for other equipment.

As importantly, when out in the field, all these things were easily accessible. No hunting through my backpack as they were right in front of me. And going through customs was a dream, as my passport and ticket were in my front pocket. Heck, I even had my sunglasses in a pocket.

It appears like it is made to last. It is adjustable. I am 5'10 and 160 pounds and it fit well. When bending over, the straps would occasionally fall but I attribute that more to my slim build and that I didn't have them tightened as tight as they could be. Even when the straps fell, the pack remained around my waist.

My raincoat fit around it, which provided extra protection (although it is well protected from the elements).

This is a must-have for my kit and I highly recommend it to anyone who travels and needs to carry a lot of stuff and doesn't want to check it with the airlines.

Finally, it provides a nice resting spot for one's hands when sitting on a long flight.

[1.3 lb] I just love this vest. The pockets are varied in size and perfect for needed accessories and the large pocket is big enough for my backup camera a mirrorless body with a small lens. When I wear the vest, I can easily get what I need unlike my backpack which I have to take off, or my sling bag which I have to reposition in order to reach inside. It's an intelligent design, comfortable, and very well made. And because it is completely adjustable, the vest will work in the winter over a bulky down jacket, and in the summer.

[11 x 9.3 x 2.5"] This is the best way to carry your gear in numerous different situations. I'm currently a photojournalist student after freelancing for a couple years and have 5 different bags to show for it. The Newswear is the BEST solution. If you're not in action, it can be carried like a shoulder bag, without the bulk and hugs your body. Although the straps are not padded, I've never carried so much gear so comfortably. You can also easily drive with it on. Great for transporting all your gear if you have a 1 cam system. Great for wearing/carrying all your gear with a 2 cam system and one body is tucked away. The body pocket is big enough for a D4 and my sync cable with room to spare. You can totally hold two prosumer bodies without their grips as well. I've also carried my gripped d800 WITH a small prime on it (AF-D models) in that pocket. The telephoto pocket is roomy for my 70-200mm 2.8. One of the two side pockets are big enough to carry two SB-910 flashes when they're L-shaped. The other pocket can carry my 16-35mm f/4 AND my 24-70mm without hoods on their sides. I've also shoved my Tascam DR-40 and a Rode Mic in their. Meaning, this works great for visual journalist. I accidentally purchased the small press pouch. I did want a second pouch for my headphones but the press pouch is for a belt system than the chestvest. All told, I love it. Each pocket has a flap pocket for cleaning cloths, batteries, notebooks, pens, phone, business cards, memory cards... you get the idea. I look forward to memorizing where everything is as this system is built for speed.

[11 x 9.3 x 2.5"] This was recommended strongly by a friend. My was delivered the day before an 8 day trip to Haiti where I knew I needed to carry my stuff around pretty much all day every day. This vest worked perfectly for me. Took about 1 minute to adjust the straps, the pockets fit my lenses well, extra room for batteries and such, even carried sunblock and bug spray in one pocket. The only thing I might do is trim a couple inches off the front velcro straps because on my frame they're a bit long and I folded them down on themselves so they weren't flopping around. This is nothing to do with workmanship or design though, so no complaints from me. I think I'll be using this vest quite often.

[1.3 lb] if you're looking at this item, its probably for you. Niche item. Have the fanny pack version as well. Well made but simple construction, only the essentials. Strong velcro.

[11 x 9.3 x 2.5"] i've worn the Newswear in the front. I was out for 10hrs and never had to take it of. A friend who goes out with to photography noticed that unlike other bags I wasn't taking it off or adjusting it. unlike using other backpacks or slings bags I don't ache or feel sore the next day. I wished that I had found this at least 3 bags earlier. i recommended it to a friend who's purchased it as well. I can't stop telling other photographers about it.
