The Short Lens Rain Poncho for Canon from Newswear is a 100% waterproof nylon cover designed to protect your camera and lens combination from rain, sleet or snow. Slip the cover over your camera and lens, remove the camera's original eyepiece and screw on the one that comes with the poncho. The back window of the poncho contains a window that allows you to view the LCD screen of your camera.

Q: 1. I just used mine, this first time. Window is powdery and doesn't wipe off. Thought it was humidity onsite at first. Thoughts?

A: The Sachtler Rain Poncho could be cleaned by hand with dish soap and warm water. If the poncho has been left wet and mold has grown on the window, an all-purpose cleaning spray (like "Fantastik" or similar) could be used. Don't use too much, and scrub carefully. Just be careful not to get anything with bleach in it on the fabric, or you may cause unsightly stains.

Q: 2. I am wondering whether the compartments are lightly padded?

A: Not really. The material is a nice thickness, but is not padded

Q: 3. What is the purpose of the two plastic sliders on each of the shoulder straps?

A: The straps are adjustable.

Q: 4. Is this modular? Can I remove some of the pouches and keep just two pouches with the harness and belt? Thanks

A: The Newswear Men's Documentary Chestvest is not modular; you can't remove some of the pockets.

Q: 5. Is this one size fits all? No women's size? I'm petite and will be overwhelmed with the poncho down to my ankles!

A: Yes, the Canon ET-155B Short Lens Hood will fit on the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens.

Q: 7. I own one of these and I was wondering whats the best way to wash them? Mine is kinda getting stinky from lots of use

A: Check the care label inside of the Sachtler Rain Poncho to see if there are any instructions provided by the manufacturer. If not, it is safest to hand wash it in cold water with a mild detergent intended for use on delicate fabrics or even dish soap (Dawn dish soap works very well on many items). Do not use bleach and do not put the Rain Poncho in the dryer. Hang it up and allow it to air dry.

Q: 8. Will this short poncho work with nikkor 300mm 2.8 vr2 + tc1.7?

A: This short poncho will work with the 300mm f/2.8 VR II, however with the added length of the teleconverter, this lens poncho will be too short.

Q: 9. Does the eye piece fits any camera ? d600 ?How is the material compared to aqua tech or lenscoat raincoat ?

A: This Rain Poncho fits the the D4, D800E, D800, D3, D3x, D3s, D700, D2x, D2H with a Nikon Wide Angle lens, 70-200mm f/2.8 or 300mm f/2.8 telephoto Lens. Unfortunately, it will not fit the Nikon D600. The material is waterproof nylon and is similar to Aquatech and Lenscoat.

[Yes] I'm now on my second one of these, after unfortunately losing the first one while on documentary shoot in the jungles of India. This poncho is easily one of the best investments you'll ever make for your kit. It allows you to see and access your entire bag, while keeping you and your gear dry as a bone. I've mixed and boomed in the poncho everywhere, in every kind of downpour, from cold windy city streets, to tropical rain forests, to the walkways below Niagara Falls. It's never failed. You do, however, have to get used to the rest of the crew referring to you as Darth Vader, or Guy From Unbreakable. But hey, they're wet; I'm dry. Pretty sure I get the last laugh every time. 5

[Yes] I recently started doing extreme weather live hits with a national network and knew I would encounter heavy downpours at some point. Fortunately, we've been setting up under overhangs or near doorways. The southeast hurricane season is fast approaching. Plus, taking on another project, and hearing rumors that the job required working in the rain, it was time to make a purchase to protect my investment. I'm satisfied with Sachtler Rain Poncho. Goes on easily. Conveniently stores away. However, I have the Betso Bowtie Fins on the front of my bag. So, the front edge of the poncho sits a little higher. Not a problem at all. [Yes] I own some of the other more expensive rain gear. They work, but they're quite bulky and a bit of a pain to use. I purchased this rain poncho and I used it for two end of the season high school football games. It was easy to set up and worked beautifully in the pouring rain. 5
